The hostel is a bit far from the center (Around 1 km walk away). we were envying our friend who stayed at a hostel a lot closer to the center and at a similar cost. The benefit staying at this hostel is that you get a free rental of the bikes which they got a few of and they are... More

A nice hostel if you want to be away from tourist central, it's clean and beautiful inside. However given a choice I will not stay here again. 1) Hot water very unstable. Either extremely hot that it will burn your skin or it's freezing cold. Sometimes even wait for an hour+ it's still cold water 2) Extremely slow Wi-Fi to... More

I stayed one night, and the owner tried to get me to pay 50% of the nights I didn´t use. But the place was out of town, and I felt unsafe walking back at night alone. I was one of just a few there, so I didn´t get my own dorm room for 10K pesos. Breakfast was supposed to be... More

To start, the hostel was spotless. Despite tracking in mounds of desert sand and dirt every day, the staff took great care of the rooms. The staff was very friendly. It's a 10 minute walk from the center of town, but the hostel provides free (great-quality) mountain bikes for you to use which is awesome not only to get to... More

I'm grateful to the friend who recommended this hostel to me. Fairly priced, nice rooms, good outdoor seating, a steamingly hot shower and included breakfast, which once even was prepared and brought to our room in the evening before so we had something to eat before we left for our break-of-dawn tour. The location is about a 10-minute walk out... More

My girlfriend, two Swiss friends and I went to Rey Lagarto to spend 5 days making tours in San Pedro. The hostel is located in the outskirts from San Pedro (10 minutes walk) which is good 'cause it gives you a better appreciation of the stars and is very quiet. (The best part is that you will be the last... More

Yes, it's a little bit out of the centre, but in San Pedro that means about 10 -15 mins walk. We had warm water, nice breakfast and the room got cleaned every day. And the staff was super friendly! We had a key to our room. Also, there were lights on the way so you don't feel unsafe. :)

We had a great experience at the Rey Lagarto Hostal. The two sisters who run the hostal were so friendly and accommodating, making sure that we had everything we needed and keeping the whole place really clean. They went above and beyond what would normally be expected. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and the kitchen, bathroom, and common areas... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Rey Lagarto. Sandra and other staff are incredibly warm and accommodating. The hostel is simple, but very comfortable and relaxing. We opted for a room with a private bath which was equipped with plenty of hot water and towels, and was cleaned daily. We spent most of our trip out in the incredible natural... More

“The shared bathroom is off the courtyard, and it can be cold at night and in the AM walking to it, FYI.”

“It's boring sometimes to have a bedroom without a private bathroom. So if you can pick one inside and with private bathroom, it'll be better. :) The room outside (the one I stayed) is nice when there's nobody outside...but when guests decide to stay in the yard talking, you may have some troubles to sleep... But they have nice rules and sleeping around 23:00 is not that bad in this city!”
