We stayed here for one night after hiking up. Some rooms have been refurbished, so we had an ensuite bathroom. The room was fine, although the plumbing was rather a mess. We enjoyed the supper they made for us (no choice but well cooked) and breakfast with baba, fried egg and chips! The setting is extraordinary - looks like an...

We stayed 2 nights at Wenhai Ecolodge in August 2014. The location is great, the lake beautiful, the horse-riding memorable. Our room, especially the bathroom was very dirty, the bedsheets had not been changed before our arrival. On our request, the lady was reluctant to do anything about it (we don't speak chinese - that does not help of course)....

"Past it's prime" doesn't come close to describing the wretched condition of the property. What probably was once a nice courtyard was overgrown with weeds. There were two outdoor sinks. One was white. One was covered with green slime. Bottled water was nonexistent - all cooking and tea water came out of a faucet next to the slime sink. We...

I recently have been there and much say that it is a beautifull place. Very relaxed and surrounded by the mountains. Green with lot of cattle, and very peacefull. Unfortunately they are building a dam there acrossed the lake to controll the water. This dam will be 30 meters!!! high, it's a very crazy thing to do this. This will...

Apart from the two solar panals, I didn't get any impression that the owner (s) of Wenhai Ecolodge give any consideration to the environment. When I arrived after the 3 1/2 hour hike into Wenhai, the lodge was locked and I had to wait around for one hour for someone to open it. The rooms, bathrooms and the courtyard were...

This is the real exprience of Wenhai with a little bit of luxury. The bedroom was new, clean, spacious and the bed is very comfortable with pine wood finishing and loved the smell as well. The separate bathroom was new, modern, large and clean but I think design should be relevant to its surrounding. Mr. Cun's cooking was delicious. Walk...

Since New York Times brought publicity to this place, we always wanted to visit this Ecolodge, more so, given its meaningful purpose as a cooperative serving the larger Wenhai's rural agriculture community. This is despite recent adverse commentaries and concerns over the fate of the cooperative nature of this Ecolodge. We finally make our trip this week although Mr. Cun...

Arranged a 2 night stay via email and the correspondence and service was good although some things that I specifically asked about (both via email and then later on a phone confirmation call) were not answered definitvely. Example being the cost of an airport pick up and transfer to the lodge. We had a jeep transfer to the lodge and...

We intended to stay for 3 nights at the lodge but only stayed for one! The area, Wenhai, is absolutely stunning – incredibly beautiful. We just really got the impression that the lodge itself is really only just surviving and all the energy and good ideas had been left to decay. For example the glasshouse for growing vegetables is broken...

We stayed for two nights at the Wenhai Eco Lodge outside of Lijang. The organisation of our stay was very efficient. Breakfast and dinner, which is included in the price was great, fresh ingredients and very tasty. A pack lunch provided for treks. The scenery is spectacular and Wenhai is a perfect place to get away from the crowds. Your...
