We had an incredible adventure at Cuyabeno Lodge. The rare floodplain forest of Cuyabeno offers a unique opportunity to visit the rainforest by boat. We saw loads of wildlife - many species of monkeys, dolphins, birds, even a sloth. Our guide, Roberto, couldn't have been better. He was friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgable. We were all sad to say goodbye to him...

We had read quite a bit about the reserve before arriving and so we know how beautiful the area would be. Cuyabeno had arranged a car from Quito and a hotel in the hot springs at Papalacte. The driver was excellent and the hot springs and the hotel framing them were a surprising luxury at 13000 ft. The staff carried...

What an incredible trip. I feel so lucky that I was able to find and partake in this amazing tour. With Gilber as our guid, we saw a magical abundance of animals, from anacondas, to caiman, to banana spider, to river dolphins! The tour is extravagant, and the cuyabeno lodge prides itself on being the first lodge in the area,...

(Written as a backpacker) We stayed at the lode for 4 days/3 nights. We had a fantastic time, the lodge was great and the staff were fantastic. The accommodation was really basic and really neat. For the price I feel like we got a really good deal. Our guide, Gilver was absolutely amazing, he seemed to love his job, the...

Cuyabeno Lodge has provided me with the most exciting adventure in my life! The guide was great, he was very knowledgeable. Food was amazing with vegetarian options. The lodge was completely eco lodge, with solar panels providing the energy. Since it is owned by two naturalist scientists, the focus is on increasing people's knowledge on environment rather than making money....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1989, the Cuyabeno Lodge was the first lodge in the park; the owners believed that the rainforest traveler should be accommodated in conditions which would be both in harmony with the surrounding environment and attuned to the needs of the modern visitor. At Neotropic Turis, we, the owners of the Cuyabeno Lodge, are the pioneers in the tourist operation and we built the first Eco friendly lodge in the Cuyabeno National Park. The Cuyabeno Lodge is one of two lodges located right on the lake and one of the few lodges that never gets flooded. We recently built a canopy watch tower and 3 new deluxe rooms. We have 24 hours electricity from solar energy, the only silent electrical motors in the park for excursions and hot showers. ... more   less
