The neighbourhood isn't great, but the security, care and attention from the staff is above reproach. The staff is friendly and helpful and know how to take care of their clients. The rooms are clean, while very simple. Sometimes the good price attracks some less than desirable neighbours, but again the staff is very helpful. The location is fantastic relative... More

Great value for money, clean, safe, amazingly friendly and helpful hotel staff, centrally located and comfortable. I loved staying in this hotel, it reminded me of my family holidays in the 90ties to the south of Spain. The hotel is probably around 30 years old, but its kept in tip-top shape. I absolutely recommend this hotel!!

Very good hotel in a good location in Quayaquil. Friendly and very helpful staff throughout our stay who assisted us with baggage storage during our Galapogos trip. Rooms are spacious, wi fi is good and the air conditioning is quite and effective. Rooms are also cleaned throughly everyday. Excellent value for money.

Maybe all the negative reviews I'd read about this place made it seem better than I envisioned, but I think this place is a fair deal. Be warned, there are no luxuries or amenities here, but you get what you pay for. For $25 you get a clean room with AC. We froze all night the AC worked so well!... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hostel when we arrived in Guayaquil at 4am as it was the only place open that wasn't crawling in cockroaches ! I don't know how they can call themselves a 'hotel'. It looks although they have spent quite a lot of time on decorating the lobby although I think that the rooms and... More

Hotel Sander is located in the downtown area of Guayaquil, a convenient location but not that easy to find by most foreigners. The façade of the building is so common, nothing spectacular. The security issues in Guayaquil are not top notched, the hotel management will close the door and pull the rolling metal door down after 11pm. If you come... More

The room for the price given was ok but I did not like the fact that they made me paid for a room with 24h hot water, and there was no hot water at all. When I reported this to the reception, they told me it's going to cost more to have another room with hot water (7$ more !).... More

I have travel to Guayaquil in September 2009, one friend told me about this hotel in Guayaquil. It was very clean, the new rooms has hot water and fans for $12.00 per person i think this was very cheap. The rooms from $8.00 per person are ok but i prefer the new ones. For some reason there are few hostel/hostals in Guayaquil. We opted for Hotel Sander when the few hostels got bad reviews in Lonely Planet and Rough Guide. In order to save money, we opted for rooms without air conditioning. We paid about 7-8 dollars a person. The rooms did have a private bathrooms and television but the walls were COMPLETELY... More
