Though I had paid for this hotel, the staff was insistent I hadn't. I showed them proof via receipt and bank statement. One staff member was incoherent, as he was simply unresponsive to everything I said/asked. The other would not listen, and continued to be unhelpful. We finally cut our losses and left to stay elsewhere, as we were not...

We spent three nights at Hotel Sol de Oro. Our first chore was to purchase a bottle of anti bacterial bathroom cleaner as the room we stayed in was filthy. Our bare feet were black from the hotel room floor. We cleaned the bathroom, the table and night table and various other spots in the room. We tried to clean...

Stayed for one night with wife to explore Guayaquil the next day, but at $35 it is definitely not worth it. The pros are that the location is good and you can have a nice, not too far walk over to the malecon while exploring the various shops along the way, and the people are nice. The major problem is...

It just does not happen here. You can ask the concierge for whatever, like a soft pillow, but it does not happen, I can only presume that staff training is the problem. Next time we will stick to recognised chain hotels where the staff are trained properly. Restaurant and bar with New York prices but Mc.Donalds quality. Tip. Be aware...

We have been staying in Sol de Oro for one night at the end of December. I found the rooms rather dirty and people at the reception unfriendly. The restaurant is not good at all and the quality of breakfast terrible. We had to count bottles in the minibar and afterwords to sign for it. I do not recommend this...

This hotel is above average for the price. We were looking for an under $50. hotel and found this gem. The rooms are spacious, clean, with fridge, hot water, tv cable, elevators, comfy bed, and vent type air conditioning (that doesn't rattle). The free breakfast on the 3rd floor leaves something to be desired since it was only bread, jam,...

For several years I stayed at the El Ejecutivo (at the corner of Escobedo and Luque, in the Gill Optical building) when visiting Guayaquil, paying $30 per night for a marginally comfortable room. When El Ejecutivo closed for remodeling last winter, I stayed for the first time at Sol de Oro. What a lucky discovery! Sol de Oro is a...
