My husband and I stayed at the Minamar Hotel just one night on the way to our oasis tour. We found it nice because of it's location and the shape of the rooms. The food was very good and the staff helpful; since we do not speak arabic at all, we really felt very secure with our guide (also arranged by Minamar Hotel) during all our trip. We saw very beautiful sites all over our journey and had a great time !

I can not really agree with the negative review which has been written earlier; it seems logic to me that when you travel to egyptian desert areas you will not find a Côte d'azure atmosphere. It is an adventure where also a/c or TV are not necessary.. if you don't catch this simplicity of life, maybe another destination should be considered..

My sister and I arranged a day and a half camping trip into the White Desert through the Minamar Hotel this past May. Our tour guide was Mohamed Handy. The trip was wonderful, in large part because of Mohamed. He was professional, attentive to detail, spoke good English, was very willing to adapt the trip to our particular needs, and best of all, he was a lot of fun to be with.

Shukree (spelling?), the man who drove the Toyota 4-Runner that took us into the desert, was a wonderful addition to our trip. Although he did not speak much English, he was very kind and went out of his way to make sure that my sister and I had what we needed and that we enjoyed ourselves.

Also, before we left for Egypt, the Minamar Hotel was excellent about communicating with us via e-mail about our trip arrangements.

My sister and I are already planning a longer trip into the White Desert for next year and we hope that we can travel with Mohamed and Shukree again.

Yes – it's totally safe to go to Egypt, at least if you use services of a professional travel organizer, such as Minamar.
We had been thinking about a tour in Egypt for some years – we do have such a trip twice a year somewhere around the world – but due to the unstable political situation we had chosen another destinations. Around Christmas time we decided, that it shall be Egypt this February.
I did contact few tour organizers, as I always do. I had a preliminary tour plan: private tour for two people on route Cairo - Sahara (White desert) - Dakhla - Kharga - Luxor - Aswan - (flight) - Cairo, time limit of 9 days and desire fur luxury level accommodation.
Raed answered promptly, and showed excellent professional expertise in his answer. He suggested something we might value for our tour plan, and recommended to avoid something I had suggested. This is exactly how a true professional behaves: listens to the customer, but not blindly, and offers his experience for the benefit of a customer.
We ended up to have a deal very quickly: car, driver and a tour guide for 9 days, 7 nights in 5 star hotels (such as Old Cataract in Aswan and Hilton Spa in Luxor), one night in Sahara. Prepayment was made via internet without any problem.
We were received and welcomed at the airport, helped though customs, and our luggage carried to the car where Artif (driver) and Ahmed (guide) were waiting. These two guys were absolutely great – good professionals but also fun! Artif was a superior navigator in Cairo traffic, and Ahmed knew everything about anything.
All was executed as planned and expected. Not a once we saw or experienced anything extraordinary – no demonstrations (yes, we also visited Tahir square), not even a glimpse of anything I could say even remotely dangerous. All the people were extremely nice, and lower Egypt was actually half empty, not any tourist flocks buzzing around.
This is the best time to travel to Egypt: it's totally safe, as far as we experienced, it's extremely cheap, and as a bonus you'll have all the space you need at tourist sites. I encourage anybody exiting of a tailored tour into history to contact Raed at Minamar and ask an individual plan. I also strongly recommend Ahmed and Artif.
Tour in Egypt was absolutely among the best I have ever had, and I do have dozens of them.

We looked for a local agent that could organize a customized desert tour (Giza, Fayum, Djara cave, black & white deserts, great sand sea, siwa and El alamein). Minamar &Select Egypt provided us their services, which we found really excellent in organization (Raed), in guiding and teaching us (Omar), in carrying us here and there, setting the camp and cooking (Mustafà and 'Fattuta'); all for a reasonable price. I have some other travel experience, and I could affirm this is one of the best.
Highly recommended!!

If you want a customized trip in Egypt for 2 or more persons there is no better way than with Minamar. They did an excellent job in arranging our 3 week trip including the hotels and sights we wanted. The assistant manager Raed Sedki was prompt in returning e-mails before we left and always a phone call away when our trip coincided in part with the Egyptian "revolution". We always felt safe and well looked after. Racing over the dunes and crossing the Western desert in their 4 wheel drive vehicles was exilerating as were the Owases visited peaceful, taking you back centuries in time. Sailing down the Nile in their dahabiya was an amazing experience. They ran it just for us as most tourists had left by then.Through out the trip the guides were well informed and the drivers and boat crew excellent. In what must have been very trying circomstances we always felt that our vacation was still a top priority for them. I can't recommend them any higher.

We booked a three day camping trip in the white desert through Minamar hotel.. We were picked up in Cairo and taken to Bahariyah in a private van as promised. We were actually taken to the Beshmo Lodge and told that the Minamar hotel was closed. Beshmo didnt look like the best place, but we didnt care as we were not staying there.. Our guide, Wally was very nice, although his english is not good at all. The camel riding was ok as was the camping, although the "american tents" they promise do not seem to exist.. we had no tents at all, just some dirty sleeping bags on mats. We didnt mind that we didnt have tents though as it was pleasant sleeping under the stars.. The food was very questionable, as was the cleanliness of the cook.. I dont think we saw everything that we were told by our guide that we would see.. most of the time our guide went on ahead in a car and we were left with the camel handlers who spoke no english at all.... Now for the worst part.....

We were abandoned by Minamar on our last day.. Our guide dropped us off back at the Beshmo Lodge and told us that our ride back to Cairo would be along in an hour.. After several hours a small van came and we were told that it was our ride.. The van was not from Minamar.. We were told that several tour companies had gone together for this van,,, We were crammed into the small van with two other groups of people.. the driver spoke no english. We were assured that when we reached Cairo, three cars would be waiting to take the three groups where they needed to go, and that the driver would know where we were going... The driver of the small van made several stops, leaving us waiting.. once he stopped at a mosque, then at what looked like someone's home for a bit... when we finally arrived at the outskirts of Cairo, we pulled over on the side of the higway and the three groups were herded into one van that was waiting.. This driver also spoke no english and had no clue where we were all headed.. I tried to tell him the name of the street our apartment was on in Giza, but he did not know it, or did not understand me.. I was finally able to tell him the name of a major street in the area.. He went to it and we told him to stop when we saw something that looked familiar.. we still couldnt find our way back and started making phone calls until someone we knew came out to find us...

The desert is beautiful and we do not regret going at all... we just wish we had used a different tour company.

Bottom line... If you book with Minamar, you will regret it!

we travel with MInamar in Egypt to visit oasis, Cairo and for the nile cruise.
We like them:the agency was really helpful...I change many times my reservation and they always answer me soon and change the itinerary without problem.
At the airport they were waiting for us. Our guides and the drivers were very nice specially in the desert. Only the cleaness in the desert hotel is not so good and the last night they bring us to the airport four hours before our flight instead of two, maybe there was a misunderstanding. You have for what you pay.You can't pretend and you need to adapt.
We really thank you for our guide Nishiem. It was really good for the explanations and really nice with us.

We had a great trip by Minamar group to oasis and the white desert (for 4 days 3 nights) from the first moment we left Cairo until we arrived the oasis.. we thought it'll be the Minamar hotel but they told us there's some problems and it's out of service for a while but it wasn't a big deal 'cause the Bishmo hotel was nice and comfortable.. everyone there tried their best to make us happy and satisfied.. we had a great tour inside Bahria oasis we saw a lot of interesting sites and then went back, food was very good in the hotel.. next morning we went to the white desert for two nights.. it was one of the most beautiful days in our life.. we had some amazing pictures.. we made a nice camp under the stars in the middle of the desert with a warming fire and our driver (Am Mohie) cooked great food with our guide (Sam) who helped him all the time, Sam was so funny, helpful and educated (especially in music and photography) he seems he knew everything about Bahria oasis and the white desert, he even took us to some amazing places weren't in the program.
In the end we would like to thanks the team of Minamar and Select Egypt for our great trip to the White Desert and Bahria oasis, especially to our guide Sam and the driver Am Mohie for their professionalism and sympathy.

Over Sylvester 2012 we, a couple from Germany, spent 5 days (4 nights) on a Dahabiya trip from Luxor to Aswan. The boat started from Esna and stopped few km before Aswan. This was our fourth trip to Egypt. On our former trips on the Nile, on the Lake Nasser and in the Libyan dessert we had only positive experiences. This time it was more a mixture and completely not what we expected for the prize of the trip, which was directly booked via Minamar. The positive side: The crew of the boat was very kind and helpful, our guide was motivated to explain the relevant sights and the food was excellent on board. The negative side: at first, at our arrival on board we were shocked from the dirty cabin. After serious complains, the crew cleaned the cabin immediately and reasonable. Second, and even more important was the low level of maintenance of the cabin itself characterized by one missing and two not working lamps and, in particular, by a really poor level of the bath room (e.g. missing tiles, dirty windows). For the cabin we would not give even one star. In summary, the value for money was not what we experienced on trips to Egypt in former years.

"Hotels excellent as was the Nile Cruise. The overnight train from Cairo to Aswan was more basic so be prepared with anti bacs and your own food and drink. That said the hospitality of the man on the train was excellent and full of good humour and it was part of the whole experience To do it seeing so much in the morning travelling south by the Nile to Aswan"
