Having been to Sharm on multiple occasions and always staying in the nicest hotels we decided to try the Barcelo this time, as we decided to have more than one holiday this year we wanted to keep costs to a minimum without scrimping too much on quality and Comfort and we like our private swimming area we opted for the Barcelo.
Given that the Barcelo was roughly half the cost of our usual hotels we were slightly dubious but upon arrival and settled in our room our worries were a distant memory.
Although the rooms are slightly dated we were more than happy with the location, given we were only 200m from the sea in front of us. The room was clean and we were welcomed with fresh fruit. And our doors led directly into our pool which was our position for 90% of the stay, apart from visits for food and a couple of excursions to the Hard rock cafe that is only a stones throw away from the hotel.
The food is plentiful and tasty with plenty choice, burgers pizza shawarma etc are all availiable from the beach restaurant too. The local drinks are just about acceptable although the vodka etc taste like paint stripper, good job the wine was decent, we took bottles back to the room every day although there was a charge for these. The room service menu for which there is also a charge was fantastic and so cheap, a steak and chips and chicken and chips were less than £10 so when we couldn't be bothered to goto the restaurant this was a nice alternative.
The hotel is generally very clean, and anything we needed the staff were on hand to help without question.
But what made the holiday extra special were the bar staff who were superb, they were very attentive and could never do enough to help. As soon as your drink was finished they had you replenished in an instant, we honestly cannot thank them enough, with a special mention to Ramadam in the reception area Bar, and Ahmed and also Mohamed in the beach bar that made our holiday extra special.

The hotel has a good sea-facing location. As the hotel is far from the city, it is suitable for a quiet holiday.

My friend and I lived in a room with a private pool. The room is spacious and tidy. It is a very good choice to have a room with a private pool as there were sun loungers and an umbrella next to it. It helped to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the beach. Unfortunately, clean towels were not left after cleaning the room.

The food selection was not large, but the food was delicious and fresh. Due to the limitations of Covid-19, food was provided by staff. Unfortunately, queues were constantly forming in the restaurant and hotel guests did not keep a safe distance in queues. The service staff were nice, always asking how the day went by, making sure there was no shortage of drinks. It is a pity that so much plastic is used: tools packed in plastic, plastic glasses (everywhere).

The program was constantly running during the day: games, sports. In the evening - a concert or performance. The greatest respect and thanks to the animators, without them the stay at the hotel would not be so good. We were always invited to participate everywhere and were always 100 percent taken care of to make our stay perfect. The evening program could be better.

Great stay, but the whole atmosphere in the hotel is created by the pleasant staff.

This hotel is classed as a 5 star, if you have stayed with other hotels in the Barcelo group, especially in Europe, you will wonder why, it is a 4 star at best.
My room 3316 overlooked the pool and beach, but was not the oceanfront room I had booked? Checking is was efficient, but had to wait, I was the only one checking in.
The room was large, big comfortable bed, large balcony with good views. Storeage was good, fridge and tea/coffee making facilty and a bottle of water daily (bottled water was availble everywhere within the hotel).
I had booked all inclusive, but this is what let the holiday down, not the Barcelo experience i had had before. Most of the food was served from behind perspex screens, this included (at breakfast, lunch and dinner) rolls, fruit, cooked food, so for a meal you could end up joining 4 or 5 queues?? this was not because of covid as pastries, salads and desserts were all self service. At this point let me say that out of around 500 guests there were only about 6 english guests, majority were eastern european, Russian. At one breakfast, even though I had queued for my omelette, the lady behind me was convinced my omelette was hers?
The pool area is fantastic, with sunbeds and umbrellas, but never seemed to be used as everyone headed for the beach, which had ample sunbeds, wind deflecters and brolleys. there was also a bar and snack restaurant. The beach was good, not sandy as suggested. Only let down here was that while the beach was huge, only a small section of the sea had been sectioned of for swimming and snorkelling, there is a reef here where loads of different coloured fish swim, but can soon get congested. My daily task was to remove any plastic i found when I swam. No notices anywhere about dealing with rubbish and plastic?
Lovely sunsets and sunrises and views of the mountains.
There are guys walking the beach, selling boat trips, diving trips, spa treatments, I would recommend you go to the spa to arrange treatments, it works out cheaper.
The staff make the place, friendly and talkative, the hotel entertainment team were always on the go during the day, looking after kids, arranging games and advising people on what aws going on during the day and in the evening. They were all glad to practice their English with me and talk about football. Who is Salah by the way??? Well done and thank you for making me feel welcome.

Stop ripping off everyone that stays their, your alcohol is not alcohol, your food is absolutely awful, paid extra for a room with sea view. And got 2 single beds the entertainment was absolutely shocking, most of managers are rude when trying to sort the problems they just laughed at us, because by that time I spent over 1000 English pounds even thoe we was all inclusive, as soon as you get to the hotel people walk and make you try pay for the spa and everything else it's horrible no one spoke English not one other English couple their was all Russian the taxi service is a scam even in the hotel taxi limousine service charged us different every time even to go to the same place, all money orientated we was the only English couple in the hotel they had no pool table or any other facility's to do anything, I ordered McDonald's everyday to are room, this was the worst holiday I have ever been on and I wouldn't ever recommend or go back to Egypt for any person at all especially if you are English even the shop inside the hotel was ripping us off, absolute disgrace and I will be taking this as high as I possibly can, my girlfriend is now scared to go on holiday because of how we was treated we was suppose to have a perfect holiday and it was by far the holiday from hell, are rep in the hotel over charged us for excursions by 4x the price you can get it if you go and get them private it's absolutely horrible how they treat English people out their I would never in a million years go back! Hated every minute of it, I ate one fried egg in the morning and was ill for 2 days honestly the worst experience of my life. I am never going to recommend anything to do with this hotel I am in shock honestly I'm taking this as high as I possibly can I swear on my life, miles away from everything I hated every second of this holiday I can't wait to speak to the big mangers because I will take this as far as I can

Iv never arrived at a hotel at 9.30 pm and been given a carrier bag with a apple lemon dry cheese roll and chicken prob left from dinner in a roll before in the reception area to eat while we wait for a room. In all other hotels they keep part of dinning room open or put out servers of food. The room was ok yes sea view bathroom unclean it needs a womans touch a good scrub the sink was gross and the water pressure not strong showers were poor. We all got stomach upsets we had to pay 30 English pounds for tablets. We had no ice and used bottle water. We ate carefully. I'm a catering assistant with food hygiene certificates I saw alot of Cross contamination in the food hall the guys clearing away dirty dishes should not be serving drinks. The food was never hot always just warm the same food was changed into another meal for the next sitting. The waiters will tell you to sit down its hard to get your own drinks so good luck getting your tea or coffee how you like it and you will feel pressured to tip. The cleaner got me a few time hinting to tip I always usually tip at the end of holiday but here it was everyday. The pool its cold. The alcohol drinks are awful usually when we been to egypt before they have been ok they have no malibu substitute either. Bottled beer good and ask for coke out of bottle. Snack bar was the best option. Staff work very hard. Reception helped us with any issues. I can get over it not living upto my expectations of a 5 star hotel but the food hygiene and alcohol drinks needs improving.
Bar staff very helpful but they don't like guests wandering around we was always told to sit down. The entertainment was in another building and drinks were difficult to get to because of stairs. The entertainment hassle you every day so you better like volley ball and the music at the poolside can be annoying if you want to read. It's like there playing to a young audience and were all middle age and if there was young adults there they would want much better food and alcohol. Not much choice in food for young children and the fruit sometimes had rotted plums. The scenery is beautiful and the beach is gravel its amazing seeing the fishes they swim around you they are adorable Lovely views. Beds made every day nice and clean for us.

WARNING WARNING The worst hotel we have ever stayed at. We were accused of stealing a towel. On the last day before our departure, we noticed that someone had left a room key card in our room in the slot where you need to insert it to activate the air conditioning and lights. It was a staff key card, bent in one corner and very damaged. We had been there for 10 days, and we always placed our own card in that slot when entering the room. We were leaving on the same night, and suddenly, while we were already in a taxi, the receptionist instructed us to wait while they checked our rooms. After a few minutes, we were informed that there was one missing towel in our room. That towel always hung in the same place. Only after checking with the staff did I realize that someone deliberately took it. During an argument with the staff, it turned out that our friend, who was traveling with us, was also missing a towel in his room. Fortunately, our friend had taken a photo of the room before leaving, showing all four towels. When we tried to show this photo, the staff was already speaking (presumably with the hotel manager), who came over and said that everything was fine, wishing us a pleasant flight.

We had more negative experiences with this hotel, but I'll only provide a brief summary:

My girlfriend was bitten by bedbugs in the room.
On the first day, we went to the beach around 11:00, and there were already no beach towels available. The reception claimed that someone would bring clean ones shortly, but, of course, they were only brought at 8:00 in the morning.
In the souvenir shop, you will undoubtedly be scammed. A very unpleasant person will overcharge you for everything and provide you with rude service.
Relentless daily harassment at the pool and on the beach to purchase expensive massages and tours in a pushy manner.
Rooms were disgustingly dirty and not cleaned (see photos below).
Towels were in a deplorable state (who would want to steal them).
Drinks were served in leaking disposable cups, containing 60% ice, a drop of local cheap alcohol, and some cheap juice.
Be sure that if you order a taxi at the hotel, you'll pay double the price, and the driver will take you to his friend's store, wasting 10-15 minutes thanking you for not making any purchases.
The only positive aspect was the beach view and a few friendly waiters, but everything else was absolutely terrible. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

This is not a 5* resort. It may have been in the past but lack of investment has left the complex extremely shabby & dirty. It has a great position and the best beach I have experienced in Sharm but overall it is tired and needs a refurb. There is only 1 restaurant which is comparable to a school canteen along with a beach snack bar. Neither could manage any hot food. I got the impression food was cooked way in advance and not kept warm. Only hot meal you can get is pasta made to order - this is not what I expect from a 5* hotel charging 5* prices. The air con struggled in the bedroom & was not on in the public areas - apparently it doesn’t get turned on until the summer. With temperatures 32 + it was very uncomfortable in the public areas. The spa is laughable. The sauna has broken slats & ironically the steam room was cooler than the reception area. The “jacuzzi” only had 1 working pump and I was totally stressed as to what was blocking the other pumps/filters ! Every treatment is the same & without air con it was very uncomfortable and so very hot. Our swim up room was pointless. The water was a dubious colour and when I asked if it was checked I was told yes it was done nightly and there were records but they were never shown to me. My feet were dirty within 2 minutes of leaving the shower which shows despite the towel arrangements/art the floors were never actually mopped during our stay. I am not interested in petals & swans on my bed I am interested in a clean floor. Also being 5* it lacked basic accessories such as robes & slippers. Toiletries were cheap & had no lather. Drinks were cheap & all tasted the same - we avoided any evenings entertainment. This is not for English people and I feel like I have needed a holiday to get over it ! Totally shocking. On the plus side most staff were helpful but feel sorry for them having to work here. Had I paid for 3* and it was advertised as 3* I would have found it acceptable.

After staying at Barcelo for 7 nights, I am very happy to say I enjoyed every second of it. Between the extremely friendly and helpful staff and the plethora of things to do, me and my family were not disappointed with our stay. A special note to the animation team Cindy and Omar for creating such an inclusive environment and encouraging us to step out of our comfort zones and try new things. We had daily chats with the Animation Team so we really felt part of the hotel. We really bonded more as a family with the morning stretching and afternoon yoga classes. Moreover, even the nights out with the Animation Team at the local nightclub were an enjoyable experience. The clear communication and the high level of safety provided by the team meant my sisters and I were never worried about partying in a foreign country, allowing us to enjoy the experience more.

The daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet always provided plenty of variety with food options with once again very friendly and helpful staff. Providing us with options with dietary restrictions and healthy meals. Specifically, Ishmail whom tended to our every need, going above and beyond multiple times in order to ensure we had a wonderful stay.

The rooms were cleaned to a high standard with daily top-ups of clean towels and amenities. And once again the staff were always approachable and even made adjustments to when I wanted a delayed room cleaning time.

The venue was extremely beautiful and in a great location. With a perfect combination of being by the ocean, and having a mountain range in the background. It wasn't too far from the local town and airport, so travel times were also quite low. Both the pool and the sea were looked after by lifeguards and the local corals meaning snorkelling is a fun option.

There is not much I would change about this family holiday and the only bad thing I can say about this accommodation was the shower. Which often sprayed water into the bathroom creating a damp floor and the pressure and heat were quite low.

But other than that this holiday was one to remember and I would definitely return.

French family of 4, we had a great time in this hotel. We are regular clients of the Barcelo chain, and the Tiran Sharm did not disappoint. The 2 strongest aspects are 1) the food which is really outstanding for a buffet : fresh, local and classic, lots of variations, never an empty area. 2) the service was absolutely flawless during our stay. In the restaurant of course, waiters are efficient and most friendly, making kids smile. When they lack language skills, they compensate with hard work. Samir and Ramadan especially were fun and helpful at every meal. M. Mostafa, the food & beverages managers, is constantly present to ensure that everyone is content and both the food quality and the restaurant service are reflecting his work.

The service is also impeccable from the front office team and their manager : my wife called to get another type of pillow and we got someone at our door within minutes. We called for laundery pick up : same, barely minutes to get someone at our door.

Now the hotel itself could use some refurbishing : paint job here and there, the pool is great but its liner getting old, etc. But the hotel location is amazing which largely compensate minor esthetics issues. From the hotel's beach you can actually see both sun rise and sun set ! the beach and pool area are clean and we never struggled to get beds. Again, the employees are helpful in that regard, and contrary to my fear, are not begging for tips when they help you. It is really up to you to decide to give someting, on the spot or at the end of your stay.

Rooms are spacious, but I must confess that we got a nice upgrade from being regular Barcelo customers, so we probably experienced a larger room than standard. Cleaning service is perfect again, and comes twice a day, the second to make sure you're not missing anything.

There are several vendors going bed to bed to sell massages, trips, etc. If you're not interested you may find this annoying but you can request a "don't bother" flag from the towel guy and enjoy the sun in peace.

We chose to buy several services : massages from the spa were great, my wife particularely appreciated the work from Yasmine, and the PADI-certified team at the diving center was also perfect with the whole family.

As I told the hotel's general manager who I was happy to get to meet, I will definitely go back to this hotel. It was one of the best Barcelo hotels I've been to (out of 12+ I've tried so far), probably the best buffet amongst them and the most efficient service.

I personally changed money into Egyptian pound upon arrival as you get better rates, you can use the Egyptian pound anywhere. We didn't have a family room so I can't answer the question regarding the sofa. The layout of the hotel is good and there are activities to do . There is a taxi desk in the lobby that takes you anywhere you need to go .. if you go to most area's you are pestered by people trying to make you buy stuff, however if you go to SOHO you do not get hassled .. its £20 in a taxi = £10 there £10 back to the hotel.. definitely worth a visit.. hope this helps
