This was our third visit, the first being Xmas 2010, followed by April 2011, then 17/12/2011. Four of us travelled (my Mum, partner, son and I). We had a standard room and a family room.

Where do I start?
Best to start with the positives
1. Majority of staff are great, especially the towel boys, Mustaffa and Mando and co.
2. Rooms were spacious and clean. They were cleaned daily, fresh towels every day.
3. Xmas Eve Gala dinner was amazing food-wise, entertainment a bit like old Butlins gone bad. New Years Eve Gala dinner was even better food-wise, entertainment as bad as Xmas Eve!
4. Have met some lovely Egyptians in the 3 times we've been there and still remain friends.

Unfortunately I have to say the place has gone down in our estimations so now for the negatives.
1. Staff in the reception bar area stopped serving cakes when they ran out at tea time, not at a specific time. e.g. one day it was 6pm, another it was 5.15pm. Last year there was a huge selection, this time only one plate.
2. Our room corridor faced the main road, so there was always a lingering dusty smell and taste, although we weren't in the room that much for it to affect us badly. The small bathroom mirror fell of the wall and someone haphazardly screwed it back on, leaving the bottom screw half out! There was flaking plaster around the edges of the floor and shower. The master bedroom balcony in the family room also faced the main road and was rather cold as no sun came in. The other bedroom was a bit dungeon-like as there were two single beds and no other furniture, plus it was very dark as there were no windows.
3. The Gala dinners were spoilt by gypo kids running wild on the stage followed by their gypo parents. Also it was a case of hundreds of people all getting up at the same time to get buffet food.
4. The restaurant food is bland and repetitive with the odd burst of tasty inspiration. There's no attempt to control queues - the Brits tried their best but were constantly shoved and disrupted by Russians. (We've learnt to give as good as we get now). The restaurant is not well organised. They were always running out of spoons and cups. There were only two toasters, one of which took five or six gos to turn the bread brown.
Milk for the cereal is watered down. It's yuck.
You have to be Sherlock Holmes to find the children's food as it's hidden around the far end of the restaurant.
When they do an outdoor barbecue they don't keep plates and cutlery outside - you have to go back into the restaurant to pick this up.
There are no trays. I had to make several trips as I was getting food for my mother and myself. By the time I'd served myself and my mother one of our meals was cold!
It's not very hygienic. You are left to slice loaves of bread yourself with just a t towel to put over it. Needless to say, some of our eastern European cousins didn't feel the need to use a t towel. I also saw someone test the temperature of the hot food with a finger.
Had a few problems in the restaurant with the waiter service. At times they acted as if they couldn't care less.
We ate in the "a la carte" Italian, Indian and Chinese. They were all ok (6 out of 10) but nothing like back home.
5. Only one heated pool and it was jam packed as you can imagine! It's a shame the hotel owners can't get some heated pools installed. The other pools were hardly used - maybe half a dozen brave kids, and even they didn't last long in the freezing temperature.
6. There is a lack of evening entertainment. We had only two nights of entertainment in the restaurant area in two weeks. There was karaoke, Mr & Mrs and bingo in the outdoor amphitheatre, but we prefer something on an Egyptian theme, plus it was cold and windy in the evenings so we didn't venture there.

We didn't go to the hotel beach this time (free shuttle service), but having read other recent reviews I can see it's still a building site.

Hints and Tips
Don't pay more than £5 for a taxi from the airport, same to Naama Bay. If they try to get more out of you just say no it’s ok I’ll ring ….. (make up a name like Ahmed, Ali etc).
Don't pay more than £3 for a taxi to Nabq Bay.
We used Kamal the taxi driver who is linked to the hotel but much cheaper. If anyone wants his number send me a message.

If you go to Naama Bay beware men who escort you from the taxi to "sign their visitor guestbook". It's a ploy to get you into a shop. Just act like you've been there before and walk away politely.

We still love Egypt and the Egyptian people who are in the main genuine and friendly.
But I’m afraid to say it’s bye bye Sunrise Tirana Aqua Park. We will only return if the changes necessary are made.
Some Brits I met have recommended several other hotels. I’m going to research them in the next few weeks. If anyone wants to know more please send me a message.

Arrived 9th May 2011 - Greeted with open arms and Orange Juice, advised we could pop down for some lunch and come back and reception would have room ready. (after 5hr 30 minute flight we were starving)....

Shown to our rooms by the consierge who took our bags in said"have a nice stay, you are welcome in egypt" and turned to walk away. However we stopped him to give him a tip. 10.ep = £1.

Within 5 minutes our door goes, to be met with Mohammed. Very friendly guy who again welcomed us to Egypt and advised that he would be our cleaner for the 14 days. He asked if we needed anything, which i asked for an iron. He was back within 2 minutes with iron and ironing board. Throughout our stay he was fantastic, Everything cleaned to very high standard, and daily shapes of elephant, flowers, crocdiles made out of towels on our beds, everytime we walked by "hello boss, how are you". (Gave him a £20 tip and the end of our stay - they dont get much and everyone deserves a bonus for good work).

Food - Breakfast - Beans, French Toast, Eggs (omlettes, fried, boiled) Sausage, Cheese Ham, Beef Bacon, Yohgurts, Jams, Fresh Fruit. And if you enter the restraunt and take a left towards the kiddies corner you will find freshly made pancakes took us 4 days to find these however we were asked by alot of people where they were. What more would you need?

Lunch - A variaty of food. Fruits, Toasties, then the different main buffet, Kebap casserole which was beef casserole (delicious) potatoes, steamed veg. All good & obviously different to what you get in the UK and worth trying. (you are on holiday what do people expect?) If you are the type not willing to try different or you have tried but dont like the pool bar from 12pm to 4pm serves Burgers & Chips - All are fresh as they dont last long.

Dinner - Different them for every day of the week. Britsih, Carribean, Italian, Oriental, Greek, Mexican. On top of this there was always a chef making Pasta to how you liked it (you choose the pasta, ingredients, sauce) there was a chef cutting fresh veg and making people great salads, and the chefs outside making kebabs (brilliant) on the BBQ grills (chicken, crabs, lamb different each night)

The restrauants - Italian - Had Beef with gogonzla cheese - Yum! Well worth a visist, great service.
Chinese - So good we had to go a 2nd time - Sizzling beef/chicken WOW! Waiters are brilliant, very funny & great with the children.
Indian - Buffet style with the food, but itys great as you just want to go up for more. Beef madras & vegetable curry were top notch. Waiters again excellent with kids and keep you glasses filled. Most people left without leaving a tip and the waiters never looked for a tip. However i felt obliged after the good service we recieved in all restraunts.
Lebanese - We didnt visit so cannot comment. Looked good however.

Pools - Spotless, cleaned what seemed to be 2-3 times a day but could be more as we werent at the pool all day. Constantly checked for PH levels. One day the kiddies pool was evacuated after a check found to much uriune in the water. Kids were not allowed in until a safe level was reached. I have stated this to emphasise the staffs alertness and cleanliness.

Fun Pool with music and games played. Relaxing pool quiet and out of the way. Kids pool (45 cms deep which kept our 3 year old busy) And then a pool inbetween the livley and relaxing pool which had a swim up bar. We liked this pool as it was close to our room (1268) close to a bar, and the 3pm - 5pm ice cream man lol.

Yes there is people that work in the Spa, do henna tattoos, work in the hotel stores which occasionally come up to you however hotel rules is that they can only approach between 10am - 1pm & 3pm till 5pm. We got on really well with these people and they werent annoying in anyway. No thanks and they left you alone. One day one of the guys was asking us how our massage was (brilliant "Cleopatra") and the lifeguard shouted at him as it was 5:05pm but we advised he wasnt trying to get more buisness and thanked the lifegaurd.

Spa - We had a Cleopatra Massage - £50 and we were in for 90 minutes getting scrubs, masks, massaged for 45 minutes, sauna, steem room, jacussi - well worth a try.
Excursions - Submarine boat - Brilliant for the kids - leave at 9am back for 12pm so no sunbathing missed.
Snorkling & Scuba Diving - Absolutly brilliant - £30 - Leave at 9am back at 5pm. Food provided and equiptment. If you want to scuba dive which i did its an extra £15 per dive but oh my god! the amount of fish it was like Finding nemo! an yes i found it - it wasnt hard ha ha. We had the pleasure of bheing on the Queen Ann and our guide was Hysam. Great staff and the food was excellent. Great day out from the hotel.
Other exursions we didnt do - Quad bikes in the desert, visit old sharm market, dolphin show, star gazing, trip to Ciro.

Staff - Cleaners/Waiters/Maintance Men/Chefs/Reception/Rep (Sam) I cannot praise them highly enough. Great at there job, Quick, efficent, great with the children "high fives, swings & more".

Anamation Team - New staff came as we left however the staff we new were all great. Amy, Gemma, Youri, Dani, Mac, and the head guy.( cant remeber his name) We even used the babysitting service one night which i where one of the team sit in your room while we went out 1 night. 50 e.p per hour. Kiddies disco is great each night, with lots a parents joining in. The nightly entertainment for the adults was hit and miss i must say. Different each night.. Kareoke/bingo night is brilliant. Mr Sunrise night is fun as is Miss Sunrise night. Perhaps with more partisipation from the guests these nights could be even better. I am comparing this to my last experiance which was in Turkey where they had Lion King Musicals ect. This is my only negitive comment about my whole experience.

Usefull tips for tranvellers to this hotel.

Take english money - Exchange rate is better in egypt - Hotel ATM changes englisg to egyptian. The rate was £1to 9.55 on 14 May 2011.

The 24 hour super market is cheap for some things like a litre of coke being 10 e.p
However if you get a taxi to La Strada there is an egyption equivalent to Tesco called "Metro" - GHD's £250 e.p = £25, Litre of Juice 7up, Coke 5 e.p = 50p Crisps 5 e.p. We bought a tub of Nutella for pancakes in the morning lol, Chocolate bars you dont even get it the UK made by Cadburys, all you toiletries. When we go back in September we will not take any toiletries and just visit La Strada upon arrival as we would have paid 1/4 of what we spent it the U!. The taxis are outside the hotel (Tito drives the white minivan & Hamed drived the Red Misibusi Lancer) . Pay no more that 30 e.p each way = £3. There is also Burger kings, Mc Donalds, KFC, TGI,s around this area. We paid Burger King a visit as they also had free WiFi access. Something the hotel doesnt have. Hotel internet costs start at 30 minutes for 30e.p. then 45 minutes for 45 e.p and so on. La Strada is a 5 minute ride, om the way there you will also pass the 3 lions Englisg pub (we dint visit) and St, Georges bar which service home cooked meals, run by an englishman, curry, bacon, full english breakfast at great prices. Also has 11 TVs showing all football. (football season now over though lol)

Plenty to do at night outside the hotel - Soho Square which is 10 minutes away and run by the hotel - Chinese shows ect Restraunts, Shops with no hasselling. Bus Stop which is a R'n'B night club in La Strada. and lots more, worth a trip.

5 minutes transfer from the aiports - Excellent.
However the hotel is in the flight path of planes, i actually seen the hotel as we came into land. This didnt deter us as seeing plane of all shapes and size flying over as we sunbathes was brilliant. 2 days we seen fight jets wizz by. WOW they were fast and low.

If you need any info, or tips, drop me a message.

Rooms was good size with massive walk in Power Shower
We got photos took also by the hotel guys and they were brilliant - Sunset photos.

I will update photos when i have more time

21 and 22 year old couple . 2nd June - 16th June

I was very dubious about staying here having read the reviews, so I went with very low expectations, expecting the worst but I was pleasantly surprised!
Its is NOT a 5 star hotel, more of a 3 BUT it is a very good hotel for the money you pay.

RECEPTION: Check in/out is quick and easy, hassle free, but don't forget to tell the bell boy what room your in or you won't get your luggage, as we found out waiting until 10:30pm for our cases!

ROOM: Stayed in 1335, sea view, very quiet, a bed that was 3 pillows wide, modern, 2 free bottles of water each day in fridge, towel art (once we'd made our own as a hint we wanted it!), cleaned everyday although he'd forget to leave new towels or a shower mat sometimes, you get a soap dispenser in the shower which has a seat in, but no other toiletries. With the rooms I think its a hit and miss, our friends room was disappointing compared to ours, so ask to change if your not happy!

FOOD: In response to the people who say its like a jungle, what the *bleep* do you expect when you go for food at PEAK TIME?!?!?! Don't be lazy, get up at 7.30am or 8am for breakfast, we did that everyday, food was fresh, no ques, no mess, pleasant! Same for tea, go at 6:45pm for a table outside, food starts at 7, simple!!
Don't be so idiotic to think that if you go for food at peak times that everyone will part just to make way for you! (this is to the review a few below!!)
Ask for a room on the top floor, sea view, and from 1335 to about 1321 and you won't get building sites but the sea view and road.

BREAKFAST: Live cooking (omelettes, pancakes, eggs etc) fruit, cereal, yoghurt, toast, bread section, cheese section, hot section: hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, French toast, their version of bacon and sausages and then other foreign foods!
DINNER: Pool bar is chips and burgers (chips undercooked burgers cold but ok) and a few other bits, inside opens at 1pm and has a wider variety: soup, pastas, bread, toasties, salads, rice, potatoes, meat on skewers etc.
TEA: Different theme each night, there's Greek, Caribbean, English, Egyptian, French and can't remember the others! On the majority of nights there's at least 3 big barbecues outside doing meat and veg kebab wraps, grilled fish/chicken, grilled meat wraps etc. 2 of the nights were disappointing, but the rest were lovely! If you don't venture to outside or the live cooking area then YES it is repetitive!

ITALIAN: You have a choice of a few things, starter was rubbish, main was lovely, it was rather cold with the aircon on though.
CHINESE: Service was appalling, took ages to place the order and have the table cleared, the drinks were served promptly though and the food was great ! You get a few choices from a menu ( you get more meat with the beef dish than chicken!) but no prawn crackers.
INDIAN: Buffet, was ok, the battered fish was lovely, there was rice, a few meat and vegetable curries, but there were no popadoms!
LEBANESE: By far the BEST one of all, it was so lovely and the service was prompt, such a wider selection than ANY of the others, we didn't want to go to this one but SO glad we did!
You book between 11-12 and 4-5 I think for the next evening and its one visit to each one for free.
Didn't get the proper deli belly, but had one day where I had to go, we were careful and ALWAYS used hand sanitizer after touching anything, even a door handle.

EXCURSIONS WITH HOTEL: The animation team DO tell you if the drinks are all inclusive or not.
On Monday, its £22 for transfer there and back with 12 free drinks to the Little Buddha which is a really good night!
Tuesday is free transfer to Soho Square at 8:30pm then return at 11.30pm and then at 12pm to beach party its £22 with transfers but pay for your drinks.
Wednesday is the Desert Party £22 with transfers and 1 free drink, AMAZING night though!
Then trips to Pacha are £22 but no drinks included and they run about 3xs a week.
We went on the Tirana Island snorkelling and scuba boat trip, amazing! They come round the pool and you can get the price down.

POOLS: The aqua park, which has kids play pool next to it, slides are free and fantastic, and there was a constant breeze there so it was easy to sunbathe! The main pool is loud with constant music, animation team do volleyball, water aerobics, yoga, belly dancing, kids dancing, billiards throughout the day. DO NOT expect the bar staff to bring you drinks here, it doesn't happen! The pool up from that is smaller and you can still hear the music, the 'relaxing pool' has no music, but can still hear it faintly, and its not really relaxing when you have unsupervised children running a muck and screaming...

RED FLAG: It works with some but not others! They try their luck but when you say no, they take no for an answer and leave.
Spa lady: she starts at £55 but you can get her down to £35 or lower if you push your luck.

SHEESH TENT: Islam who runs it is fantastic, we went just to see him! On your first trip, he offers you tea, its not free, its £3 each as you find out at the end.

CLEANLINESS: For those who say its not clean, I will be putting a picture up of a man on his hands and knees scrubbing the floor outside. They are ALWAYS cleaning, ALWAYS! It is clean and yes there may be crumbs on the table at tea time but what do you expect if you sit down before they clear it? There were plates and cups left in corridors BUT that was the guests leaving it outside their rooms. The cups are rather dirty though, I cleaned mine with my napkin the majority of the time.

STAFF: Generally, very nice. On the top terrace, we tipped 3 of the staff and they always came and talked to us and brought us drinks after that. One bar member upstairs was a sarcastic, ignorant prat because he grew a dislike to us when we asked for 4 drinks each (as we were in the sheesh tent) and from then on he went out of his way to annoy us an be rude.
it is NOT the staffs jobs to bring you drinks, they do if you make an effort with them when you first go to the bar.
One of the waiters downstairs for tea was LOVELY and after the first time we went, we never had to ask for drinks, he had them for us as soon as we sat down and wouldn't take tips from us after the 3rd time!
The bar man at the amphi theatre who also serves at the aqua park pool bar is DISGUSTING and revolting in his behaviour to women and also grabbed my boyfriends arm when we ignored him.

ENTERTAINMENT: different shows at 9:30pm in the amphi theatre each night, some entertainment with the theme nights when plausible.

SHOPS: Perfume shop will draw you in and rip you off, just walk past. The food and drink is extortionate, £2 for a Dr.Pepper! The Watch man, you can get him to £15. Internet £3 for half hour, phone calls expensive.

GUESTS: The ENGLISH were the worst behaved, quite embarrassing really! Its like Benidorm to be honest, the majority of families are rough, arrogant, loud and drunk. They let their children run wild and the majority of the children were so ill behaved it was shocking. There was an incident with a very large Egyptian man and his family with the waiters, I won't go into details but the police were called as it was quite serious.

I WOULDN'T recommend this hotel to couples aged 28+, but I WOULD recommend it to families, and young couples. I did have a FANTASTIC holiday and the hotel is GREAT for the money you pay! Just go with low expectations, and don't expect much and you will enjoy it ( also if it helps, I usually stay in more expensive hotels that are true 5 stars, but this holiday was a bargain and was worth every pennny!)

All inclusive drinks stop at 12pm

My husband and I stayed here 28 Feb-14 March, when I first read reviews on here I was a little apprehensive, now I've been I am wondering why this hotel isn't ranked higher? If you are thinking about booking, go for it, believe me you will not be disappointed!!
If you do not plan on going to Cairo, St Catherines monastry or Jerusalem then you will not require a visa,so upon arrival at the airport terminal go straight to the right which is passport control, there is always confusion, this will save you lots of time. If you do want to do these excursions then the cost of the visa is £13 and this can be obtained from one of the many desk windows on the left hand side of the airport. We booked a private transfer through suntransfers.com, it only took 8 minutes too and meant we arrived at the hotel quicker than some of the coaches
On arrival at the hotel our cases were taken to a secure area whilst we completed the check in process, we were given a key card and two towel cards, we were shown to our room, which was on the ground floor, number 1281 by a friendly member of staff who explained how the key card worked etc, our cases were delivered shortly after this,
Our room was really big, no need to take your hair dryer, there's one in the room, there was even a liquid soap dispenser in the bathroom along with shampoo too. The shower is huge and we had hot water at all times day/night. The televison also has a couple of english channels which we had on whilst getting changed on an evening.
Every day our room was cleaned to a very high standard, with fresh towels every day. The bedding was changed on a regular basis and this was spotless with crisp white sheets and even a quilt...You have the use of a personal safe for your valuables and our room did have air con although we only actually used this a couple of times. There is no need to take towels with you as your towel card is exchanged for clean fresh towels at both the beach and the swimming pools at the various towel centres through out the resort every day of your holiday. If you don't want to be bothered by some of the sales staff that come around at both the pool/beach, ask at the towel centres for a red flag, which will allow you to have a hassel free day.
This resort is huge and there are currently improvements going on which in no way spoilt any of our holiday.
There is an ATM machine in reception that allows you to withdraw cash from your bank which also doubles up as a currency exchanger, we actually got a better rate than we did in the UK. Its a pity it doesn't give you an option to choose to have smaller notes dispensed as sometimes we struggled to get change, especially when purchasing cards for wifi access from Gorge in the internet cafe who always struggled to change our bigger notes.
There is a spa on site and Malak who is one of the sales staff from there is lovely, very friendly and will help you choose from the many treatments on offer. Heny was amazing, i was nearly asleep after my faicial, he also threaded my eye brows and did my pedicure, my feet were so soft and the french manicure he did was fantastic.
Food in the main restaurant was very varied, the pastries and desserts were amazing and the lentil soup was to die for. They do try to cater for all nationalities and as with most hotels it does get a bit samey, unlike other hotels though you get to eat at the other restaurants, Italian, chinese, Indian and english, once per stay. Our favourite was the Itallian, closely followed by the Chinese.
We only had a couple of days where the weather was a little overcast but did have days where the temp was around 34 degrees, do remember to take high factor suncream and make sure the little ones and well protected. It could get a little chilly on an evening where a hoody/light jacket was required.
We were well looked after at the lobby bar by Allaa who ensured we were kept well supplied with a great selection of drinks, these included cocktails and to my surprise rose wine too which for the all inclusive option was very nice. This became our local haunt on an evening and we favoured this rather than participate in the evening entertainment which was on offer at the hotel, the animation team, and especially Ashley did their very best to try and motivate people in joining in the many activities, which included, aerobics, volley ball, crazy darts etc etc without being too pushy.
There is a daily shuttle bus to the beach which runs at regular intervalls through out the day. Improvemets are being made and you could hear the noise from machinery now and again but to be honest this seemed to 'blend in the background' and we were still able to relax there. You can get drinks and snacks whilst you are there and my only gripe would be the fact that there isn't direct access to the sea, whether this is planned as part of the improvements I do not know? We did use the hotel taxi at a cost of 100 egp (around £10) to the english pub, Union Jack,we thought this was quite expensive and when we return would be happy to walk there/back which I believe is around 15-20 mins walk. We enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast dinner which was around £5-£6 and the lager was around £2.50 a bottle, it was a nice change, and as my husband was missing the sports channels back home gave him chance to watch the various football matches on offer that day, maybe an option for the hotel to show some of the sporting events?
Snacks are available at the main pool bar on an afternoon with a choice of burgers/ hotdogs/salads etc and ice cream was available from 3pm too. I also enjoyed a late afternoon cappucino and piece of cake at the lobby bar after a hard day at the pool/beach which was most enjoyable.
There are a few shops on site one of which is a supermarket, extremely over priced, we forgot our beach bag and they wanted £14 for a white bag which looked like it had been in the shop for ever, needless to say we didn't buy one and waited until we went on the city tour excursion and bought one for a fraction of the cost at 'old sharm market'.
We also did the Ras Mohammed boat trip and the Star Gazing trips, both were really good value for money but unfortunately I couldn't fully participate in due to developing lower back pain.
The water slides are really popular and these are supervised, most of the life guards do wear normal clothes so it can be a little tricky when trying to identify them, I thought a guy was acting quite strange around our sun bed and if it wasn't for a whistle he was carrying I wouldn't have known he was one of staff, maybe some type of uniform could be worn?? The pools are freezing here, there were still people using them, particulaly in the second week when the weather was warner. There were some kiddies slides and the pool here was heated. There is a beautiful main pool with a gorgeous swim up bar, this was my favourite although we didn't use it after the first day due to the water being too cold. this was by far the quieter of the pools, the relax one could sometimes be a little noisy, possibly due to the fact that because it was heated more people used it.
During our stay we were invited to a cocktail party along with many other guests, to meet some of the hotel management team, Mohamed Kader who is Front office manager, was very keen to hear any feedback we cared to offer, he personally wants to ensure that every one has the best holiday ever!
The staff are a credit to the hotel, they work so very hard to provide the best possible service to all guests and will go out of their way in ensuring you have everything you need during your stay. I was surprised at the way some people spoke to the staff, without even a please /thank you. We did occasionally tip the staff but didn't get the feeling that this was expected of us and we felt the staff had a genuine desire to be polite and helpful at all times.
We did use a mosquitto plug in our room and also used Boots own brand suncream which had a built in anti-insect repelant, we didn't endure any bites but did notice a few people that did.
This was only our second visit to Sharm and I am already looking to go back again next year, my choice of hotel will definitley be Tirana Aqua Park, without a doubt!

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Sunrise Tirana Aqua Park ( 30th August – 13th September 2011) - 2 Families - 4 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 4.

I am writing this very balanced review based on value for money and managing expectations. Firstly this is not a UK 5 Star, it is though very good Egyptian 4+ Star. This was our fourth visit to Sharm (4 star hotels) and by far the best Hotel in terms of facilities and value for money.

Let me begin by saying that if you live on processed food, and think Mc Donalds or KFC is good food and a saviour, firstly don’t go to Egypt, don’t go all inclusive ANYWHERE , in fact the best bit of advice I can offer is to go to Blackpool/Butlins/Pontins and stay in the UK and enjoy your pie and chips !!!

Secondly and most importantly my review is based on putting things into perspective. We paid £16.00 each per person per day, for the All Inclusive accommodation – Bed, Towels, Beach Towels, drinks, breakfast, lunch and dinner in a choice of SIX restaurants- it really does beg the question what on earth people expect !! - If you paid MUCH more than this then I suggest you shop around a little more for a better deal, or look at the 6 star + hotels with the best reviews and pay up to 10 x more !!! - As an aside we stayed in a Premiere Inn in the UK the evening before our flight and paid £29.00 for the ROOM ONLY - £9.66 pp – no food, no drink – I rest my case !!

What we particularly liked about this hotel was the fact that you had “space” – if you saw people by the pool during the day, it was unlikely that you would see them during the evening as there is so much choice in terms of bars and restaurants.

We chose to visit the Amphitheatre only once during our 2 week stay – the children enjoyed the disco, however the entertainment that followed was pretty dire! As we were in a small group, we chose to entertain the children ourselves and they had a BALL !!

Spacious grounds
Basic but adequate rooms
Fast and friendly check in/out
5 minutes from airport
Choice of 8 Pools
Shuttle Bus to Beach
Choice of SIX Restaurants – Lebanese (awesome – we visited twice). Indian – very good. Chinese, -very good. Italian – very good. British – did not visit, I do not go on holiday to eat shepherds pie, chips and gravy !!! Main Restaurant – we used this only for breakfast where there is huge variety catering for all tastes.Continental cheeses and meat, fresh fruit, yoghurts, pancakes, omelettes, fresh bread, pastries etc etc. and the evenings when we did not have a reservation for one of the Restaurants – In the evenings when using the Main Restaurant,we preferred to eat outside on the Terrace and mostly ate the variety of barbequed meats (cooked outside) and the wonderful variety of salads inside. Admittedly there were some dishes which did not look particularly appealing, but I would not call them slop and there was so much variety I really do fail to see how one could even contemplate having MD’s or KFC’s !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Animation Team – Sorry Guys and Gals, I’m sure you try your best BUT !! I think you need to spread yourselves a little more around the resort and realise that there is more to entertainment than out of sequence dancing and throwing each other, and guests into the pool !! Apart from around 1 pool-you were invisible !!

Staff ( SOME ) – with the exception of Eslam (Aqua Pool Bar), Mahmoud (Kiddies Pool) YOU ARE A DIAMOND!!, Sayed (Main Restaurant) and Bashir (Housekeeper) , MOST others are nowhere near as friendly as the staff in other hotels we have visited – though to be fair I think this has a lot to do with the size of the complex – not rude by any means, just more surly……

SNACK BAR - To be fair this is VERY, VERY poor. Having said that, with the variety available at breakfast it is so easy to make up some rolls with fresh ham, cheese, tomatoes together with fresh fruit, pastries we never went hungry at lunchtime.

To conclude, we love Egypt, my husband and our friends spent 6 days out of 14 Scuba Diving, we had a Ball – I always like to explore different hotels, but this is one hotel (despite the negatives) that I would have no hesitation whatsoever in re-visiting.

For future guests, please put into perspective what you pay v what you get !! I really hope you have as wonderful a holiday as we did.

We arrived back in England last night after a week at the Sunrise Tirana, we loved it there is nothing wrong with the hotel it is the idiotic slobs that stay there that cause the problem!

The hotel is really clean staff are friendly if your friendly towards them, which is normal manners, I noticed that a LOT of people just act like lords slobbing around expecting the staff to clean up after them, I think these idiots expect a personal bottom wiping service also.

A lot of people have complained on here about the grouting in the marble showers.......Im sorry but if you go on holiday to pick out grouting faults then you must be one very sad person.

The food was great, very nice to have a variety of foods from all corners of the globe, saw some people with plate full's of chips and moaning that there was nothing for their children to eat, what, you mean that salads, veg fruit and grilled meat and rice is not suitable for your children?!!! get a grip!

the bus to and from the beach runs every 15 mins so why the complaints here...i have no idea, the snorkelling is to fantastic to care about the short bus ride to it!

A review below complains about the metal detectors and check points with guards on the road.....and?!.........wouldnt you rather know you were safe, even though there was no sign of the recent trouble in Sharm, you wouldnt know any different.

Myself and my partner didn't have any sign of a bad belly and neither would anyone else if they take the advice from the Reps at the beginning of the holiday and dont drink icy cold drinks whilst your body is in 46 degree heat! Thats if the slobs can be bothered to get out bed and go the the meeting!

Overall it was a BRILLIANT holiday, the hotel itself was more aimed towards families with younger children I think but we dont have kids and would go back tomorrow.

A big thanks to out lovely room attendant always spoke to us and the lovely waiter whom we spoke to every night even if we were not sat in him service area we always went for a chat!

We stayed in room 1346 9th - 16th June

There are mixed reviews about this hotel but I suspect those which are less favourable are comparing this 4 star resort to counterparts in Europe which you can't do - they are not comparable. Tirana Aqua Park is an excellent resort my husband and I, my step-daughter and her friend (both 17) have just returned from a 10 night stay there. We are not new to Egypt as this was our 4th time back to Sharm and we weren't disappointed.

People need to remember that Sharm is in the Middle East not Europe! Yes, the water pressure won't be perfect and this may affect your shower at peak times as this happened to my step daughter so they showered slightly earlier on other days and all was fine. The food at Tirana Aqua Park is as good as any other Sharm resort I've been too. The hotel have to cater for many nationalities and the executive chef and his team do an amazing job. Well done! We booked in at the English Buffet, Chinese, Indian and Italian and the food and service were excellent. There is also a Lebanese restaurant you can book but we didn't try this one. We did hear people complain about the Indian being spicy but seriously what did they expect - to us, who enjoy Indian food it was very authentic and totally delicious!

As usual there were many people who made our holiday that little bit more special just by their personality and effort - Ashraf (housekeeping) thank you for our towel animals daily, Shawky and Mamoud at Pool Bar 2, Ahmed and Mohamed at the Lobby Bar, Marjorie and David in the Italian/English restaurant, Mamoud at Pool 2 towel centre, Kamal the taxi driver, Ossy our rep and Mohamed at Reception.

The buffet restaurant can be a bit of a scramble but if you're there for 7pm when it opens, it was fine. There are some amazing dishes served outside which we completely missed the first night as we'd filled up on the delights inside! There is something for everyone and its a poor do if you can't find anything - you will not starve, believe me. The Italian Restaurant serves people from Britain for breakfast and lunch which is a nice touch as other nationalities can be rather rude and forget their manners when queuing.

The water slides and wave pool were enjoyed by my step daughter and her friend. The location isn't perfect as there is little to walk too in the evening but La Strada, Naama Bay and Soho Square are a short taxi ride away. The taxi's from the hotel are a fixed price and the same driver will return for you which is reassuring. Yes McDonalds do deliver which is a novelty - we did this one evening following a trip in the desert on sand buggies as were later back.

The hotel is clean and all the staff from gardeners, housekeeping, chefs, bar and pool do an amazing job! I had to call reception twice in the night due to noisy Russians returning to their room and shouting in the corridor - this was promptly dealt with. I have absolutely no complaints with this hotel and would certainly return. Our air conditioning tripped on our last day and we called reception and an engineer was with us within 10 minutes! The animation team also work really hard and Naomi was a breath of fresh air!

We spoke with Marjorie on our last day and I think it is grossly unfair to compare this hotel to those back in the UK or Europe. This is a 4 star resort in Sharm as we have been to other 4 star resorts and a 5 star.

Don't be too hard on the hotel, your holiday is what you make it. If you complain about everything its you who won't have a great time. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay so thank you very much. The manager should be very proud of all the staff as even those who I didn't mention always had a smile on their face and that means a lot!

We stayed at the Sunrise Tirana Aquapark for 2 weeks from 19th october 2009. Having read the reviews that have seen posted for travel around the same time as myself I felt the need to add my comments too.
Location-Yes the hotel is near to the airport and you do hear aircraft noise, this was not a problem whatsoever and anyone who complains about this should read the brochure before hand and either put up or shut up!
Rooms-The family room that we had was extremely spacious and clean. The shower was amazing and you could easily fit the who family in there. Rooms are cleaned and towels changed on a daily basis. The cleaners work exeptionally hard but are always smiling and happy. Tv in the room has disney channel, mtv and a couple of movie channels, these were an advantage but hey, who goes on holiday to stay in there room and watch television???
Food-Yes the dining hall is too small for the hotel but use your common sense and get down there for dinner after the 7pm rush. The Russains do feel the need to get there at 7 and pile their plates full of fresh fruit and there was even an occassion when they took a whole gateux out of the dining room! We never had any problems in getting a table or drinks and there were 6 of us. My advice is to be friendly towards the dining room staff, show your manners and they will do anything for you. The food is varied and plentiful. How people can say they couldnt find anything they liked is beyond me. There was a fresh pasta station, salad bar with cold meats and cheese, a whole station dedicated to bread, plenty of main dishes to choose from i.e chicken beef and fish dishes, rice and a potoato dish too. There is also a snack bar from 12-5 that serves burgers hotdogs and chips. The food is always being re-plenished and they are constantly putting fresh dishes on.
Drinks-Yes some of the glasses have chips in them but just point out to the barman and they will change it for you. The beers are sometimes served in small glasses but guess what the solution is....ask for two! There were people complaining (unfortunately the brits) but really, use your common sense, some people were very ruse torwards the staff and in my experience that really isnt going to get you anywhere. On the point of staff, when using the bar near to the lobby, we sat outside most of the time upstairs and the service we recieved was second to none. We tipped the waiter on the first nigght and every night after this he made sure that are drinks were constantly replenished, we didnt even have to move, needless to say we continued to tim him and the service got better and better, we didnt even need to ask him for another drink, they were always brought to us. Amazing what happens when you show manners and respect to people who are trying to earn a living by serving you.
Entertainment-Again a lot of complaints about the entertainment from the brits. There was a lot going on by the pool each day and they do try to get you involved as much as possible. Every evening there is a mini disco and some sort of show. No, the shows arent great and you generally are laughing at them than with them but we all know that the entertaiment in an all incluisve resort generally isnt that great. My advise to all the moaners is next time...go to butlins! There were also a couple of competitions which you have to go to for the laugh factor. The Russians take the games very seriously and the who night turns in to the russions vs the brits. One show in particular, Miss Tirana was hillarious! A big thanks to Marsha and her family for making my night/holiday. The Russioan didnt win and there was nearly a stampede. The Russian kids were crying and the poor reps nearly got dragged of the stage by the lady who was either her mum or something else which doesnt bear thinking about. I never thought I would hear us brits chanting Viva La France!
All in all I would recommend this hotel. I would rating a Uk 5 star but you have to bear in mind, each country has a different star rating system. The staff really do make this hotel, they are great. The pools were great and you could always get a sunbed. We met some lovely people on our holiday and at the end of the day, if you have to rely on the hotels entertainment as you cant make you own you really should stay in the UK and go to butlins.
One more thing to mention, the people who have quite cleary gone around the hotel and inspected every single detail, ie, the tiling and sealing of the bathroom etc, really people, you are clearly going on holiday for the wrong reasons! My advise, get yourself a drink, hop on a sun lounger and chill out by the pool, isnt that was it is all about!
I hope this reviews helps you to make up your mind about the hotel, take the plunge, book it and you wont be dissapointed.

My reviews (which were all true) are being constantly deleted so I will keep this brief.
The hotel is a disgrace, the management should hang their heads in shame. If people actually like the food then goodness knows what they must be used to because it is dire. The hotel is scruffy, out dated and unclean, the pools had excrement in them on three occasions which we were told to keep quiet about. The rooms may be large but our daughters' room was windowless, without furniture (except for two rock hard sofa beds) and resembled a prison cell.
Do not go here. Save your money and book elsewhere. We were all ill and although we've been home for two weeks, I've only just recovered now.
The best thing about this hotel? Leaving it and coming home!

They are definitely closing the on site water park in mid November.. I had an email from love holidays confirming this and i am waiting for them to offer me a different hotel. They said if i still want to stay at this hotel i can do at a reduced rate.. Obviously im not going to as i booked it for the water park.. My sister also booked with love holidays for this hotel the day before i got my email from them. So bit naughty that travel companies are still taking bookings when they no about the planned work at this hotel
