As I had read some poor reviews, I was fairly concerned about staying at the Hauza. Luckily our holiday turned out to be lovely, and we would return to Egypt again.

The Hauza is not a 5 star resort as some updating is needed. Wasn't as luxurious as we expected, more of a 4 star.

There are lots of positive points. On the plus side it is a lovely big resort, with lots of things to do and a lovely beach and swimming pool. The rooms are good (most with sea views), beach is spacious with plenty of sunbeds. Our 18 month old baby loved the beach and both swimming pools were also a big hit. Animation team was a bit repetitive, but they didn't hassle us at all.

If you have older children, they can entertain themselves on the water slides all day or down at the beach.

We found that the beach bar was great in the day, as the staff were so friendly and they serve pizza from 10am. The beach staff were also great and used to set us up where ever we liked on the beach, without expecting a tip.

Definately recommend snorkelling from the beach, lots of fish to look at.

We enjoyed the food at the main restaurant, lots of variety and we did not get upset tummies. Don't expect English food though.

Would recommend buying swimming shoes for both pool and beach for young ones, as there are drainage gaps that little feet can get caught in around the main pool.

Shuttle bus to Naama Bay was good and always on time.

Only negative was the lack of choice for alcoholic drinks, but I think this is a general thing in Egypt.

Pity that they have a mini zoo on site, as I felt this was very run down and animals were not kept in very good conditions.

Overall, If you fancy a relaxing holiday by the sea with lovely weather, then this would suit you.

The staff are excellent, and they generally cannot do enough for you.

Oh another tip - if you go to Naama Bay (and like trying local cuisine) then the Traditional Egyptian Restaurant (above the Hard Rock Cafe) is fantastic. Fantastic service, lovely food and great views from open air terrace. Definately try this one.

Hope this review is helpful.

Have just returned from a weeks stay at the Hauza Beach with my husband, parents, sister and friend, 6 adults in all. On first arriving in Egypt the first thing you realise is how chaotic the airport is, you really don't know which queue to join so it's best to ask the nearest Egyptian rep for assistance. For guidance though you don't need to buy a visa unless you intend to do the trips to Luxor or Cairo just write 'Sinai Only' on the back of your visa card you're asked to complete.

When you leave the airport you'll be surrounded by taxi drivers, if you take a taxi to Hauza don't pay anymore than LE50 (about a fiver) expect your luggage to be put on the roof and to get to your hotel in about 5 minutes flat, these guys are crazy drivers! Ours drove about 120km an hour with no headlights on, was on his mobile, smoking and talking to my husband all at the same time!!

Once you arrive at the hotel you'll be disappointed with the reception area, not very luxurious for a 5* hotel, it could be so much better though. If they moved the bar to the main area and filled the lobby with comfortable armchairs and sofas instead of tables and chairs it would be more inviting, as it is it's not a very nice place to sit and chat of an evening.

We arrived in the night so didn't see much of the hotel but the rooms are basic, the furniture is like most of the hotel comfortable if not a bit shabby. If you can, upgrade to the beach bungalows, which overlook the beach and jetty, they look lovely.

The food choice is not extensive at the Hauza, there is the main buffet restaurant for all your meals which is adequate, the food is ok but nothing to rave about (chips make a rare appearance) but there is a Bakery which provides freshly baked cakes and bread for all mealtimes and this is fab. The bread is really yummy and the doughnuts and pastries are superb.

There is a restaurant on the beach but we were told to avoid this due to food being served cold and unappetising. There is also a pizza snack bar on the beach, which is very good.
Note to hotel; as a 5* advertised hotel more international restaurants should be available as at most other 5* hotels.

The pools are fantastic here, you have the main swimming pool and 2 kiddies pools and then there are the slides, waterfalls and jacuzzi. The pictures don’t do this part of the complex justice, we spent a whole morning here and it was such good fun, even my 68 year old mum went down the slides!! Great photo opportunities.

As with most parts of the Red Sea the snorkelling is out of this world, you really have to see it to believe it. If you’ve never been before, get yourself a good mask and goggles and just do it you’ll be amazed at the abundance of sea life. We saw everything from shoals of little orange fish to masked bannerfish, parrot fish and even sting rays! This was definitely the highlight of everyones holiday.

As there is very little to do in the hotel in the evening, entertainment is absolutely dreadful your best bet is to venture into Naama Bay. There is a shuttle bus every day which costs 3 euro’s for a return ticket and if you miss the return bus you can always take a kamikaze taxi back to your hotel for no more than LE60-70.

The shops in Naama Bay are mostly jewellery, perfume, and T-shirt shops but if you haggle hard you’ll pick up plenty of bargains here. The people in Egypt are genuinely friendly and really like the English people as we’re friendly and polite and not Russian!

There is a Hard Rock Cafe in Naama Bay which you must try and visit, the atmosphere is brilliant, there are big screens showing pop videos all evening and on the hour all the staff stop what they’re doing and do a rendition of Grease Lightening, YMCA or whatever else they fancy. Very good entertainment and the food is good too, about £3 for cheeseburger and chips.

All in all I’d say you must go to Sharm el Sheikh it is an amazing place and the weather is superb, we never saw a cloud in the sky and if the Hauza Beach upgraded all their furniture and accommodation and opened a few more restaurants we’d go back but so as not to be disappointed we’ve booked to stay at the LTI Grand Azure which is in the First Choice brochure as a Premier Hotel, can’t wait!!

we stayed here a good few years ago,it was awful. ask yourself why the hotel displays taxi prices to other local restaurants. the food was awful,so many people had tummy bugs there was a general whiff around the place, the tortoises and flamingo pool,if you stand and watch for any length of time you will see the rats appear for leftover food, lots of rats . this is not how i expected to spend my holiday with my partner sick in bed

Warning, do not take your children here. Stories have emerged that on the beach, there is a man who does the camel and horse rides, he has a patch near his eye. He tells them that he will take them on a extra long ride on the beach, then proceeds to take them out of site and touch the children. This has happened to my niece who has finally told us. she was only 8 at the time. Warning do not let this happen. This has been reported to the hotel.

After reading reviews on the Hauza Beach Resort, I was open minded before travelling.

I was absolutely amazed at the hotel not because I havnt stayed in 5* accommodation before but because of the service we were greeted with. The staff at the Hauza are brilliant and cant do enough for you.

If you decided to go to Egypt, please look at this hotel web site and make yourself known to Mohhamad Farrag the Guest Relations Manager you can email him direct ---- he made us feel like royalty, he had arranged drinks on arrival and better still greeted us at the hotel when we arrived, he arranged everything from taxis to and from and excursions to Cairo and arranged for our rooms to be next to each other. We didnt even have to check in at the reception or worry about our luggage getting to our rooms we did not lift a finger from the minute we arrived in Egypt until the minute we arrived home in England. He even took us to the dining room to meet our waiter who had the same table for us every night (there were 10 in the party).

If every hotel had a guest relations manager like Mohammed we would save precious holiday time trying to find the rep or where to go and what to see.

Also if you contact him he will save you money for booking direct at the hotel but with all the same services I cant rate him enough.

The food was lovely, and plenty of choice people who complain about it obviously will not try different cusine, the rooms were lovely and spacious had all the things you require on holiday and the Chamber person was lovely too. All the staff at this hotel were polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble it is a jewel in the crown, I have been to many hotels around the world and also worked in hotel management for years, I always believe in reccommendation and I highly reccommend The Hauza Beach Resort and that you contact Mohammad via e.mail before you book.

I even went to work the day after I came home, after a tiring flight with a small baby and usually if I do that I am very tired but I went in as fresh as a daisy because the hotel staff look after you immpecably.

My family and friends will definately return to The Hauza sooner rather than later and the amount of people I have reccommended to it, Mohammed should be in undated with enquiries.

I hope this helps people to decide where to stay, in Sharm and puts any bad reviews of this hotel to the back of the que.

Very nice resort. Very attentive and friendly staff. Clean room, clean resort. All you can eat and drink (best is local beer). Loads of spare sun-beds round pool and spaces on beach throughout the day. Excellent snorkelling. Handy ‘limousine’ service offering a good price without the need for haggling and safe driving in a car that looks like it would pass a UK MOT (a rarity in Egypt). Good food with excellent choice for us vegetarians (although nothing was labelled ‘vegetarian’ so we had to pick at some things to check). At least twice a day, staff came by to try and get us to take part in the activities (step aerobics or a pay-extra massage) a friendly ‘no thanks’ sent them on their way. This might get annoying after a week or so. No tummy upsets. No hassle. No complaints.

Some reviews mention a stench. We noticed that the water used on the gardens smelled a little bit, but wouldn’t call it a stench.

We checked out at midday but were allowed to stay in the resort until 15.30 when we left for the airport. They left our wrist-bands on so we could get food etc.

Advice:
•You only need a visa if you leave the resort of Sharm.
•Be prepared to haggle hard if you get local cabs.
•No real need for Egyptian pounds. Take Euros, US dollars and/or UK pounds. Only place we needed Egyptian pound was in a café but, if we’d asked, I’m sure they would have taken Western currency.
•Use bottled water for cleaning teeth.
•Make sure you snorkel off the pier at Hauza.
•Go to the quiet beach if you don’t like the music in their limited CD collection (it does get a bit repetitive).
•Arriving was easy but we are very glad we allowed 2 hours to get through the airport to our plane home – they need the new, bigger terminal desperately. Queues stretched for 100m (that was just to enter the airport terminal building).
•Please don’t touch or stand on the coral – it’s delicate, rare and beautiful. Remember that some types give a painful sting (described as burning needles).

i stayed a hauza beach in feb of this year with my wife, my four children and a friend and his two children. we initially booked a family room for ourselves and our two youngest children, we also booked a seperate apartment for our two teenage sons. upon arrival there seemed to be a mix up with our booking, we were all tired a little short tempered, and the last thing i needed was a problem with our reservation, whether it was a fault with the travel agent or the hotel, it was resolved very quickly and efficiently. i wasnt looking forward to our holiday at all after reading some of the dreadful reviews placed by others who had visited hauza beach, in fact i was going to cancel but was persuaded not to by my family. i can only give my honest opinion on the hotel, every one has different ideas of what they expect when they are on vacation....... we had a really great time, the staff were brilliant, the accomodation was quality, and the hotel was immaculate, i felt the food was 4 star but you never struggled to find something enjoyable to eat.the entertainment was dire, (the kids loved it) but not for anyone over the age of 12. there wasnt a great deal happening in the evenings but if its a quiet drink (or even a loud one), the pool bar was great fun with the bar staff bending over backwards to please you, to be honest i tipped a few of the staff the odd five pounds, every now and again, it was well worth it trust me!(bearing in mind the best paid staff earn around five pounds a week)
yes! some of us had a dodgy belly... but! we were eating non stop, drinking far more than we ever would at home and we were sitting in the sun for 10 hours every day, so rather than place blame on hygiene etc etc i take full resposibility for my upset stomach. i wasnt impressed when we ventured out to naabe bay the people were pushy and the shops all had the same tat once you had been in one you had been in them all, hard rock cafe was really good, but after dodging every shopkeeper and his mate we went back to the hotel and enjoyed the whole all enclusive concept. we travel as a family three or four times a year to a variety of destinations and hauza beach was for us as a family an excellent holiday...we vary rarely return to a resort but have re booked hauza this obtober.

Was not sure what to expect with the hauze beach as had read some very mixed reviews, but was very pleasantly surprised. After the initial culture shock of stepping off the plane into what felt like a tumble dryer on hot ( we went end june and it was roasting)we were transported by buses to the airport where we were swooped on by guys trying to make us pay for trolleys, being unused to tipping for everything we struggled on our own, but soon discovered that a little monry goes along way in egypt and the service you get is worth every penny!!
When we got to the hotel by coach for which we were happy to pay for as it was not part of our package. Our hotel was wonderfully cool and we received a very warm welcome and were transported to our room. Very comfortable beds, efficient air conditioning and very clean, with amazing views. The food was great and all ice cubes are mineral water also the salad is washed in bottled water. Entertainment mainly in italian, but the kids still loved it and the beach and snorkelling trips were amzing. Did get dodgy tums, think it was from the pool water as was not cleaned as often as we would have liked but cest la vie. Massage also great and very cheap, but could not call rusty old bike and rowing machine, a gym!! Tip, tip, tip is my advice, a few pounds go a long way as the wages are rubbish and do it at the beginning to get best service, bar, room cleaners, restaurant, towel guy by the pool and especially the pool bar as you will get some amazing smoothies!! It was too hot when we went to do much, but chill out so I think we'll be back again.

Hi is hauza beach resort open again ?
Answer from Michelle N

Lol I know yet have been 8 times and have been in cleanest rooms & treat like royalty by the amazing staff there. I do think its closed down now which is tragic & solely the late owner's sons fault. This was the 1st hotel ever built in the sharm el sheik area & just awful that it is no more. I pray someone buys it & gets it up running again as it has massive potential of being once again the best place to stay.

If you can locate my review of Hauza I advise you to read that. It is a cheap hotel and i think people expect a 5* place even though they are paying pennies. I had a lovely time in may and we stayed 10 days all inclusive!! Its a bargain. Our room was clean, pool side clean and i didn't get any food poisoning nor did my partner. Just sunburn!! If you are going to be fussy then pay more but I see no problem with this hotel at all! :)
