Ihab, his family and his assistants were the most hospitable people I have ever met. They run a generous and lovely family business and made us feel just like home. Breakfast and dinner were always prepared freshly and it was so tasty. They even cooked vegetarian for us because we requested so. If we needed anything we could always ask them. Very kind people.
The room was beautifully arranged and the beds comfortable. There are mosquito nets on every window, so you can sleep peacefully. There is no fan in the room, so it can get hot inside depending on the outside temperature (note: we were there right after the summer break, so it was still 34 degrees celsius outside. But usually in autumn and winter it‘s cooler). There is no wifi at the accomodation but we bought a simcard with internet in Cairo (highly recommended when travelling through Egypt! There are cheap options for Vodafone). The whole complex is aesthetic and there are a lot of cozy sitting accomodations.
My friend and I felt extremely welcomed and we are very thankful to Ihab and his great team for making us feel like home.

A great place to stay at in Siwa Oasis.
Not only the view and the scenery and the decoration is nice but food is outstanding and very delicious.

People are very friendly and nice.
Nabila and her family are great hosts and look after you personally and prepare all nice delicious food specialities.

As an ECO Lodge the place is very quite.

I love the decoration and setup and colors of the rooms.
They are combating flies and mosquitos very effectively with least use of chemicals.

Rooms have light bulbs but no electricity sockets which are centralised outside for charging of mobiles.

Rooms are clean. You have to ask for housekeeping and change of towels.
Going out, order special towels to take out to lakes.

We booked lunch at Talist for our group while visiting Siwa as reports indicated food was really good there.

Our group of 22 participants arrived on time despite the terrible rainy weather and headed straight to the hotel restaurant which obviously had a leak in its ceiling causing rain to drop inside.

Our selected buffet menu was quite delicious, however, the staff seemed overwhelmed and kind of unaccustomed to handling group meals.

We had to wait a good 20 minutes for our selected dessert as apparently the hotel owner had to prepare it herself, but it was worth the wait.

After lunch our group members did allot of shopping at the hotel boutique but it took forever as the lady owner had to manually write down each and every item sold which resulted in delaying our departure.

Finally, ABC in the travel and hospitality business is for the hotels/restaurants to grant complimentary meals for the group bus driver, however Talist charged us for the drivers meal.

We stayed at Talist for a week during our first trip to Siwa. The rooms were very clean and had all we needed (well, this is an eco lodge after all so we had to manage our expectations). The food was amazing and prepared by the owner herself. Staff members were very friendly and always around to help. Ehab, the son of the owner, was exceptionally helpful and always made sure our needs are met. We shall be back again for sure.

Talist siwa was one of our best stays we’ve had. The hotel is extremely clean, really relaxing, kind and professional staff, amazing-delicious food (cooked home-Made) and such a beautiful location (mountains behind us and a lake in-front of us). Wonderful, wonderful stay, and we look forward to coming back really soon.

Talist Siwa offers eccentric lodging, perfect for a digital detox. The staff is friendly, meals delightful, and stargazing is unmatched. Clean pool, tastefully decorated rooms, and stunning sunrises/sunsets enhance the stay. However, the long drive from Cairo, occasional wildlife droppings, and light water pressure pose minor inconveniences. A unique, nature-immersed retreat.

By far the best place we’ve stayed in in Siwa. The hosts are a lovely family from alexandria who lived in siwa for more than 20 years and started that place from scratch , building every corner with their hands. They have very clean and neat bangalos and mud houses and also built rooms on the siwan style. The place is very clean and nice , the place is followed by organic farm that belongs to the family from where breakfast and dinner is made and served. Food is home made by the owner and is extremely delicious. The place also has a natural pool where u can enjoy a cool swim in the hot weather of siwa. It also has a bazar where you can shop for souvenirs and organic soap .Talist is very recommended for relaxation and retreat. The hosting family is very friendly and they make u feel at home. I love the place and cant wait to visit it soon ❤️

This place is for the best and the worst.
The best and only value to stay there is the landscape around. Just in between colorful hills and the salty lake, you can enjoy the nature far away from the city of Siwa( anyway the is nothing to do in Siwa).
For the worst: most of the rooms are a kind of tent with a wooden structure, no walls, no roof, just a thick kind of tissue. You have a bathroom attached with cold water.
But the real bad thing about this place is the owners, they lie and are unfriendly. First evening we had no hot water, we were told that someone would show us how it works. None came so the next morning we asked again but nobody was there before 8 am, so we wanted to leave. The owner said tonight I give you a better room with hot water, when we came back in the evening, after one hour of discussions she admitted that all of there heaters were broken and they had to bring water in a bucket.
There is also no electricity in the place but they say they provide electricity after breakfast to charge cameras and phones. The first day we had only one hour and when we came back in the evening the generator was on so we plugged our equipments. The owner denied and said only tomorrow! But the next morning they also did not turn on the generator. We asked why, the woman said: my husband has a problem with his leg, he cannot wake up in the morning and he walk very slowly!
Incredible lies and bad behavior. The worst place in my 30 years of travelling

We had a wonderful stay at Talist Ecolodge, which is located on the peaceful and scenic Marakay Road overlooking beautiful lake Siwa.

The ecolodge is run by the lovely Nabila and her family, who are warm and gracious hosts. They truly make you feel like a guest in their home, not a hotel. They are an Alexandrian family who have made Siwa their home for the last 16 years, and they have plenty of tips and stories about the oasis and its people.

The food is delicious and home-cooked, we ate here every night (the special 'Mardoum' sand-buried chicken is a must). Breakfast is simple (fuul, cheese, eggs and jam), but all perfectly prepared and tasty.

The rooms are beautifully decorated, with hand-painted and hand-made furniture and accessories by Nabila and her husband (a decorator and architect respectively). The buildings are of a traditional style using local materials and the "tents" (which we stayed in) are sturdy bungalows with marble floors covered in beautiful kilim rugs and their own private bathrooms. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. They have a nice pool (fed by natural spring water) which overlooks the lake, with lovely sunset views (beware of mosquitos at sundown though, you should come armed with repellant).

There is no electricity at the ecolodge, so it can be quite hot during summer months. We were there in mid-September and it was hot during the day but quite pleasant at night. You get an hour during the day to charge your phone when they turn on the generator, otherwise enjoy the quiet and disconnect :) beautiful old gas lamps light the place at night.

It's about 10-15 min drive from Siwa town, so if you're after a peaceful and secluded experience this is the place for you. They can easily arrange desert safaris for you (a great experience), but you will need a car/driver to go into town and explore the oasis (they could probably help arrange that for you if you've come without a car, we had our own).

I can't say enough how much we enjoyed our stay here, it was just want we wanted. We can't wait to go back :)

We visited fr touring the place, and an afternoon drink. Every corner tells a story of passion and dedicated artistic talents. Nestled between the mountains of the oasis with wooden art work everywhere. Various accommodation options: Rooms, huts, and tents.Home made food by the owner to die for, and a corner for natural beauty products as well.
