It was one of the most magical experience possible. We did not expect much but the history was just not in the place but also in the hosts. The location, the sights, the food was excellent. But, most important was the personal touch by our hosts - Ajay Singh Begu. The evening at the lake, the cocktails surrounded by lanterns,...

From first being welcomed by Ajay and his staff, this 1 night stay was a dreamy whirl in another time. The surprise sunset picnic at the summer palace was an experience I will always cherish, as I remember the sun setting through the arch of the western cupola on top of the palace. Our room at the fort at the...

There's little I can say that hasn't already been said in the other reviews, but I'll try: the attention we received is something not easily forgotten, we met highly educated people that made a marking experience on us, we had a history lesson told from personal experience, we enjoyed a perfect indian dinner, a very special conversation with insights of...

This is our second visit to Rajasthan, having seen all major towns and historic highlights, yet our stay at Fort Begu was quite something else. It is a large palace, parts yet to be restored to its former royal glory, lived in by its owner Mr Singh (who happens to be the 24th Maharajah of Begu in straight line) who,...

This January we had been on a long trip to our favourite state Rajasthan covering a few cities. Discovering Rajasthan the royal state of India, as always, was a majestic and an enriching experience. We have been to this state a few times and still we aren’t done with this place! Rajasthan has a rich cultural heritage and there is...

We have just returned from a fabulous 17 night trip around Rajasthan and stayed at a number of lovely heritage hotels but it was our stay at Fort Begu that made our trip so very special. We didn't really know what to expect but from the second that we stepped into the fort until we were waved off at the...

This place is completely amazing. It's enchanting and was unlike anything else I did in India. The food was probably the best I had. This is not a normal hotel however so don't expect this. You feel more like a guest in a castle than a paying customer. It really is the Downton Abbey of India and everything that comes...

Totally amazed! Coming to Fort Begu was planned by my husband.... I was little apprehensive as I had never heard about the place and even we had to drive a few kilometres extra.... but as we entered the gate I was really surprised to see the property.... the welcoming of peacocks n parrots right at the gate..... this was really...

We recently stayed two nights at Fort Begu in the delightfully atmospheric Chitrashala Suite, full of murals, mirrorwork and coloured glass, sweetly scented with marble float bowls full of deep crimson roses. When we were later shown the Princess Palace - the next project the owners have in the pipeline - and told that our room was originally in this...

What a pleasant and charming surprise ....after a bumpy ride off the main highway we entered the unremarkable village of Begu and were driven through the crumbling fort walls over a moat bridge....to the palace set in a quite green peacock filled garden . In our two nights there we stayed in both the charming turret room and the stunning...
