Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very strange place but very relaxing. The rooms seemed spacious, and the grounds were delightful. Had a wonderful time wandering around the shop, and watching the fish playing in the ponds. All for a good cause, and great opportunities for photos.

I need to begin by stating that we got this room for B1,200/night. That's £28/USD$34 and I apologise for not having taken any photos.

I dislike being asked to pay upon arrival. Is it a short time joint?

They were also "unable" to accept my Amex card, even though it's acceptance was clearly advertised.

The room was very clean, but lacked furniture, unless you think that a plastic chair and a miniaturised easy chair are acceptable? It was also a twin, not a double

The fridge didn't work - something I only discovered when I woke up and went for some cold milk that we had bought the night before. "I get Chang" (engineer) was the reply, when Mr Desk arrived to check it. Too late Matey, I've already had to pay.

No hot, or even warm water available to shave in, although there was a warm shower.

The bed was average at best.

As a frequent traveller, I've had much better for much less.

Breakfast:

Rubbish and clearly targeted at the Chinese mass-tour brigade. I salvaged it as best I could, by having (undercooked) eggs on toast, after turning the toaster up from the "warm bread" setting.

Watery/tasteless coffee (I didn't try the tea) and sundry Asian dishes that were neither well-prepared, or well presented. that's all too common in the extremely cheap sector. In fairness there was some fresh fruit available.

At B400/B500, it might have been fair, but this was 3 times that amount.

Unsurprisingly, there was plenty of parking, easy access and some local shops.

Overall, I can't recommend it.

Yes, its was clean.

The internet worked (in the end...), but it wasn't especially fast.

Going by the name, if this place has anything to do with Dr. Meechai, then he needs to have a word with himself.

Cabbages and Condoms was my stop for a night. I found it to be new, clean and quiet partly because of its location which is about 5 miles from the city center and the night bazaar.

Still, I wanted to go there to support its cause.

Breakfast unspectacular, but the rooms were large and well light. Close to airport. A better location closer to town would make this place a very desirable place to spend the night.

A novelty stay and makes for a good story.

Easy enough to get a taxi into town

Rooms are spacious and clean. Everything is new and well looked after.

Bedroom is large enough to not make you feel caged. Bathroom area is separated from the bedroom by a sliding door. This way you get some effective noise protection from outside.
Hotel is located a bit away from the main road but rooms facing the University are certainly more quiet.

Airport is nearby. Road next to the hotel has some smaller eateries if you don't want to dine in their own restaurant.

Definitely worth the money and will be my primary choice when looking for a room in this area again.

We had business at Chiang Rai Rajabaht University and this Hotel is very close to the campus. It is bright and airy, with good sized rooms, comfortable beds and lots of hot water.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
Breakfast buffet was included with fruit, juices, fried eggs with rice and several stir-fried dishes.
and toast. Food was OK, but nothing was ever hot. Luke warm food on cool plates. Also, a pitcher of warm milk would be nice for coffee, instead of the little packages of creamy powder.
We stayed 5 nights and it was always the same.
Interesting neighborhood, busy with students. We walked around and found some nice coffee shops, noodle places and a couple of fun restaurants.

... is what you get. Wine extremely overpriced, better stay with Tiger beer and simple food. Avoid chief recommendations. Service ok, beware of misunderstanding orders due to poor English. Condoms as gifts... to whom it may concern.

We came for a dinner with few friends. Given the hype, we had expectations. The deco is ok but nothing special. The staff was indifferent to us being there and we struggled to get a professional and attentive service. The food was definitely sub-optimal. We left disappointed.

Very clean and food was good but the story of this place is far more interesting than the location. It's nice to see countrymen return their good fortune to their home. Gift shop also features local Thai gifts to take home

Extremely clean, modern and neat room with a desk, lazy boy, bag rack, closet, fridge, tv, toiletries, separate sink, hair dryer, toiletries, nightstand, lamps, hand towels, bath towels, closet, crisp clean white bed linens, strong wifi on every floor, bottled water, clean glasses, and late check in. Hot and cold water and great water pressure. Didn't get to try the included breakfast because we checked out quite early. Great stay!

I'm afraid I have to agree with all the other comments about the good being bland and pretty tasteless. Pad Thai and fish cakes totally underwhelming.

Staff were pretty efficient, but you feel they're just going through the motions.

Can't decide whether the live 'muzak' added to the occasion or not. It was a bit irritating to be honest.

I think the people who rave about the place are most likely package tourists with little or no experience of just how good food around this part of the world can be!

A very worthy cause, for sure, but the food just doesn't hit the spot.
