Relax bay is not your average hotel. If you look for a traditional hotel with AC, concrete walls and all amenities you can find in any deluxe hotel anywhere in the world. Well, we are not the place to be. Our rooms are Huts, spaced between 5 and 10 m from each other and set in a as Jungle-ish possible setting. There is almost no concrete and we constructed our bungalows under the trees. This means they are in the shade. Furthermore the grass-type roofs are overhanging and give protection against the sun and around the bungalows we planted flowers and plants to block out the sun. Shade means coolness but also darkness. Bamboo, a living natural product also soaks up the moisture in the air. We air the rooms, but they always smell a bit Bamboo-ish. They do not smell damp and not well kept, they smell natural. Our roofs are made from grass, so they disintegrate after a time. They are not as waterproof as concrete, or tar roofs. However they are much cooler. and they look much better. Prices on the net should be the same everywhere , but you are best served by making a direct reservation at the hotel.

First of all, very unfriendly staff. Very difficult to get a smile out of anybody which is so unusual in Thai hotels. Secondly, expensive restaurant/drinks/services/laundry. I'd just moved there from another resort, and found the prices at Relax Bay to be about double what

Everything was good until I found a super strong chili in my 400 bats duck breast cooked in a supposed european style. I had to order a second big bottle of water to feel better. We asked to see the chef he kindly invited us to a dessert but after that the staff looked at us

We returned here after 15 years. The place looks 15 years older and feels a bit rundown. The original owners were French and the place had a French vibe. I think it has a Thai or chinese owner now. More business-like. It is definitely a family resort, with little kids

Great resort on a lovely island. Family of 8 including a 6 year old had a great week at Relax Bay. Clean rooms & hotel. Plenty of shadey spots on the beach and around the small pool. Extremely helpful manager who we booked with and helped us with our travel problems! Perfect

First off Relax Bay has an amazing location- perfect beach and landscape. With such a great location the potential is there, unfortunately no one is optimizing it. My husband and I booked at the last minute and figured we would take a consensus of TA reviews and hope for the

Is the beach clean?? Is there any surfing near by?? How do you get there from Bangkok??
The beach is clean and wide, water is not very transparent though. Haven't seen any surfing. From Bangkok you can take an internal flight to Krabi Airport and then a minivan to Koh Lanta (they usually drive you to the hotel).

hello. SO many resorts in Koh Lanta dont accept children. Could you clarify if you do please? thanks Nouria
euuuh. Well children are noisy, run around, en for most of the time, parents dont really look out for them and let them behave as they wish. for example: some families let their children run and play hide and seek in the middle of the restaurant. Or, they do pipi and kaka, right in front of the restaurant on the beach. so, yes, i gues a lot of hotels are kind of fed up. But, here in relax, we have a bit more patience, and i have children too, and basically children are children and they will be our next future customers. And, its not their fault their run around, its not their fault that they shout etc.... Its the parents who should take care and teach them a education. so, in relax, we fortunately have most of our parents who take that into account. so, children are kind of welcome. But not to much too, as otherwise one loose the single and couple travelers . And without them you cant survive. or you have to specialize. But to clarify: we do accept children. ;-) alain. ( i have 3. 1x 28j, 1 x 25 j and 1 5 year. ( and they all needed to be disciplined. And we all went adn still go on travel when they were small. :-), adn we also have children menu etc... and our staff loves children.
