Our stay at the fisherman’s cottage was just perfect! Super friendly stuff, awesome food, clean cottages with a nice view and direct access to the beach. Enjoy the sunset while swingen right an the beach. You can directly rent a motorbike and explore beautiful Koh Lanta. They help you with just everything. Highly recommend to stay at this lovely place!

I spent a lovely 3 nights at Fishermans Cottage late february. The pictures available did not do it justice. Coming from the main road - it all really looks like nothing but from the moment you step onto their little slice of the Beach its perfect. If you are looking for a resort, this is not for you. If you are looking for charming rustic little bungalows, lovely welcoming staff, a nice garden , good simple food at an affordable price- this is your spot! We ( 3 of us) all took our own bungalows, mine was right on the lawn with sea view ( hammock provided ) across from the bar/restaurant. The rooms were spare , concrete with little private open air bathrooms in back with showers. Its very simple and cute - but we were all happy. If you are very early to bed- i might recommend getting one further from the bar as they play music till maybe 11 ish - didn't bother me at all. They have a nice simple tab system for residence at the bar - so you just pay up upon checkout. The staff are lovely and are around all day if you need a beer, but they basically leave you to chill. They have a wood platform under a large tree on the beach which is great for laying in the shade ( much needed on our time there) its not that big so you do end up meeting some of the other guests - which we enjoyed. This beach is very quiet we found (to our liking ) - also to note- because of the reef? at this beach its only really possible to swim around high tide maybe 3 or 4 hours- . I would LOVE to go back

Pros • Kun and Lap were very accommodating and work very hard to help plan events • Kun pays for excursions he coordinates for you then adds it to the check at discharge, wonderful to have a single bill at the end if the trip rather than lots of little expenses throughout the trip • Kun arranged for transport to and from Krabi-no hassle • Food was really good, try the No Name! • Kun is Eco focused, he will loan you a canvas bag for your stay to reduce plastic bags, also he doesn’t use plastic straws at the bar (if you really need a straw, he has bamboo straws for 40 baht that you can reuse…consider bringing these home as eco friendly-easy to pack souvenirs) • Really good use of space in the fun funky concrete bungalows, the shelf behind the bed and along one side was great for storing stuff. There are outlets at either side of the head of the bed, great to plug in a laptop a with a USB fan that you can take into the mosquito netting with you. • Huge (bigger than king sized) bed. • Mosquito net in great condition (remember to lower it in the afternoon though, otherwise you trap the buggies in with you) Cons • No air-conditioning, nights are hot. They provide a fan, but the mosquito netting blocks some of the wind. If you are from a cooler area or sleep hot this may be a show stopper for you. • No hot water heater. Expect cold showers. • No drinking water provided. This is the only hotel out of the 13 we’ve stayed at in Thailand that doesn’t provide daily drinking water. Kun is worried about eco issues, but by not providing water, we had to buy bottled water…a 5 gallon jug of drinking water that we can use to fill our water bottles would have been greatly appreciated • No maid service (none). Really not too big a deal except for the septic issue. If you expect me to throw my used toilet paper away rather than in the toilet, occasional removal of the garbage next to the toilet would be greatly appreciated. • Sparse linens. 1 flat sheet, 2 towels, and pillowcases were all that are offered. No hand towel, no rag, no other bed linens. With no maid service they get pretty stinky…we did figure out that any of the guys will exchange them if you ask (they will also take a full garbage bag). • No soap (or any other toiletries) provided. • Lap is a smoker and thinks nothing of lighting up and sitting down to visit. Sweet guy, but cigarette smoke is awful. • Bugs in the bungalow...bungalows open at the top & bathroom mean bugs get in (not just mosquitoes, but ridiculously large spiders and centipedes. Considerations • Bring (or buy) beach towels…you only get 2 towels for your bungalow so you won’t have anything for the beach. • Bring flashlights!!!!! Bugs WILL get in. Had several centipedes and one monster spider in the room…don’t want to step on that stuff bare footed in the dark!!! • Consider small USB fans with long enough cords that you can bring into the mosquito net with you. • ALL beds in Thailand are hard as rocks. If you have a bad back, consider bringing a camp mattress to soften beds. • You might think closer to the beach is better, but closer to the beach means closer to the bar. Bar usually closes around 11:00, so if you want to go to bed before that, you might experience some loud bar revelry that keeps you awake. Extra Info: • The 7-11 close to the hotel has great coffee and espresso drinks at a fraction of the cost of anywhere along the beach. • Amorn at Summer Leaf Lanta Massage (across from 7-11) is a FABULOUS massage therapist, the best out of all the massages I got in Thailand, give her a try. Thai oil was well worth the $$...and consider a 90 minute rather than 60...you will be glad you did!

I’ve stayed at fishermen’s cottage four years ago and liked it so much that I decided to come back this year. The staff is very friendly and considerable. They take good care of you and help you with anything you like - public transport, day trips, diving or renting a motorbike. The Bungalows are simple but clean. You get a mosquito net and a fan and a beautiful garden bathroom. At night you can hear the ocean 😊 There is also a nice garden outside, clean beach, hammocks and chill out area. The food and breakfast in the Restaurant is very good. They cook everything you like for you, even when it’s not on their menu. I just can highly recommend this place. If you like to relax, you should definitely go there.

Koh lanta was supposed to be a short stop on our trip through thailand, but then we found fisherman‘s cottage. We stayed weeks instead of days 😂 It is an amazing place with wonderful hosts. +hosts Fisherman has an amazing crew. Everyone is just super friendly and you feel just welcome. They help you with everything you need like day trips, diving, scooter rent. We were really sad to leave them 😁 + garden and beach The garden is lovely with an eye for details. You have a nice beach infront of fisherman including a nice chill platform and beautiful sunsets in the evening. + Restaurant The kitchen is great and we couldnt stop eating all day long. They have a nice mix of Thai and western food. I highly recommend the chicken burger, padthai, no name,.....actually i didnt eat anything i didnt like 😅 + Bungalows There are stoned bungalows with an open bathroom and a lot of space. In the beginning i was a little bit skeptical if this really works, but we always had nice temperatures and fresh air in the bungalow. There are still fans if it is not enough. And the best thing, you can hear the ocean 🤘 The beds are big, comfortable and include a nice big mosquito net. +/- cold water There is only cold water available at fisherman, but honestly, who needs a hot shower when you have 30 degrees all day long 😆 Conclusion: it was just a wonderful stay at fisherman and we really love the Island. We already look forward for the next trip to Koh lanta and fisherman’s cottage. Thanks for everything you guys did for us.

We only planned to stay 4 nights, but it then became 15 nights. And we still felt so sad when we finally had to leave. The place is a true gem that cannot be found often. Its located right at the beach with lovely stone bungalows that are open, which is wonderful at night listening to the ocean and due to the fresh air circulating. The beds are really comfy (big mattresses) and we slept really good. All bungalows are designed with so much love (every bungalow has its own theme, hammocks in front of it and inside, lots of space to store your stuff). The bathroom is open. We did not mind the fact that there is only cold water as this can be very refreshing after a hot day and the warm ocean. We loved just everything about that place. The food, the drinks, the music (until 11 pm), the lovely details, the beach, the most amazing sunsets and the whole atmosphere. To get around you can rent a scooter from them. The whole team made our stay absolutely remarkable and helped us organising all the trips we wanted to make. We can highly recommend this place. Thank you so much Kun, Tob, Lab, Lam, Puent and Bao for having us. We count the days until coming back.

If you are ok with no hot water and also ok with loud thumping house music all day and night long, then why not stay here? I found it to be absolutely dismal. We arrived in the afternoon and one of the owners was mixing his own version of house music. It lasted until 11:00 at night and this is not just a one night thing: it happens every single night of the week! It's not just kind of loud, like background music, its VERY loud. You need ear plugs to not get a headache during the middle of the day. The music on top of absolutely no hot water in any cottage drove us out. I also would be remiss to not mention the beds: they are very thin old mattresses on top of concrete footings. Absolutely horrible. Also, you have to sleep under mosquito netting because all the cottages are open at the ceilings to the outside air. For the prices they care charging, you can easily find a comfortable beach side bungalow with a comfortable bed, hot water, and no loud music.
