Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We’ve stayed for three nights, upon booking you get offered the deluxe room or basic room, please be aware that with the basic it does not give you the option to pay extra for air con..200 Baht per night. When we arrived, our room was like a sauna with two small standing fans..it was unbearable so asked to pay extra to upgrade it was then we were told we could pay extra! (Quite sneaky!). We then had to move rooms because the air con in the original room wasn’t working, which was great! Staff were helpful and very lovely.
5 minute walk from the beach also! - Beach is gorgeous as is the restaurants all along the beach. We found a cafe called ‘Through the looking glass’ AMAZING!! First cafe which has English tea!
Best advise is to rent a moped, 150 Baht per day and explore the island this way. Koh Nang Yuan well worth the trip also!
Our best island yet :)

Relatively cheap good value for money be careful when booking make sur should get what you want like ac and hot water.. water was not that hot but it’s expected on the island. They could do more in terms being more environmentally friendly with water bottles and such but a cool place to chill and spend time not far from town all the basic offerings but not restaurant or anything like that.

Stayed here for 3 nights, in a private room. Our room was like an apartment! Huge and exceptionally clean. Staff were really helpful, and even though they have shared hostel rooms it really had a hotel feel. No pool but just a stroll to the beach. I’d recommend to anyone.

We stayed here for one night as an emergency booking as accommodation elsewhere had run out. They said they require a minimum of two night for a booking, but as they only had one night available they were happy to accommodate us. The staff were very friendly and helped us with our bags to our private room. The room, while quite small, was comfortable and clean. It’s a little out the way from the main Sairee Village but only a 5-10 minute walk so nothing silly. The wifi was a little temperamental but worked for the most part. Would recommend staying here, and we were lucky to have come across it!!

Probably the worst hostel we stayed in whilst travelling Thailand. The staff were extremely rude and threatened to take our passports away. The rooms didn’t feel clean and we got woken up by the cleaners coming in at 9am. Wouldn’t recommend and was massively overpriced

Just noticed the attached response to a review I made on Booking.com. I can assure you that the smel in these rooms was due to drainage and nothing to do with personal hygiene. This manager clearly can not handle constructive criticism. As for insulting me for choosing a dorm with 7 others? If you looked at all my other reviews you would have seen that at this point at had been travelling for over 3 months and had stayed in many many hostels, sharing all the time and had not always had a bad experience. Wouldn’t recommend this place just for the fact the manager obviously does not understand travellers.

Hope you will see how the people are happy staying in our property, by reading the other review. We really understand we can't make everything to be OK.But those who really understand how to respect the people and the situation in which they will have to choose for their fixed budgets and what the culture of shared room looks like , satisfy their staying in our property always.

Nice accoms, comfortable, aircon works, water pressure is ok, not high but ok.

Clean your room everyday and the staff are very friendly.

Not a place to be if you wanna make friends or socialize with new people. Awesome place if you and your partner want some alone time, on the cheap.

Guy at the counter made efforts to extend our check out so we could take a shower after the morning dive, on the day we left. Good man!

We loved Koh Tao, maybe one of our favourite islands. Before we visited Koh Tao we heard that it was pretty boring unless you are diving. We didn’t do any diving but still loved it, there isn’t a massive deal to do here granted but it’s exactly what we expected from the islands, no real roads, cute little streets, great bars and restaurants and a lovely beach.
The hostel was great for us, big clean room, air con and a fan, hair dryer, safety box, a little kitchen space with a decent size fridge and nice clean bathroom.
The hostel is on a little side road, we stayed in one of the private rooms but they offer dorms too. There is a nice balcony but there’s no view really. WiFi works but isn’t the best and you have to re-log in every time but if that’s the worst part about the hostel I think we can handle it.
Great location, minutes walk from all the restaurants, cafes and bars. Maybe 10 minutes max to the beach. The beach is really nice here, pretty quiet.
Places that we would recommend to eat while you’re staying here ‘the blue water’ a really nice cafe, good coffee and food, ‘Black garlic’ restaurant has good food and it’s just around the corner, ‘bai burger’ amazing burgers, a little expensive but worth it if you’re have a blow out, breakfast here was good too.
If you’re stuck on things to do we hiked to Laem Thian resort which is a deserted hotel that was closed down after the roads to it were destroyed in mudslide in 2011. It takes around an hour through the jungle to hike to and it’s pretty eerie when you get there but a cool thing to do, something different and there’s a private beach there which is lovely.

I was at Good Dream for the entire duration of my stay on Koh Tao. Originally, I'd only booked a few days in case I didn't end up liking the accomodations, but suffice it to say they were great! They have both traditional hostel-style dorms available, as well as private rooms. Everything is reasonably-priced. AC and fans are available in most rooms, and everything is clean - I'm paranoid about bed bugs and was pleased to find that neither the dorm nor private room I stayed in had any to speak of. The brothers who own the place are a joy to deal with, always happy and helpful.

Pictured: the free cat that came with my private room and lived on my balcony for a week. 🐈
