We had a great time at the Dearly Hostel. The staff are very accomodating, assisting us with booking taxis, fishing tours and scooters. We booked a four bed dorm which had strong AC and a decent balcony. another highlight of this hostel was the pool which has deeper sections for learning to dive. Definitely recommend this hostel if you are planning a trip to Koh Tao!

This hostel is lovely, we stayed in a private triple room with an ensuite which was really bright, spacious and clean. It’s really nice that you get a fridge in the room and free drinking water. They came to change the water, bins and clean the bathroom which was nice. Pool and common areas are nice and the staff are friendly and helpful. Only things I would say is it’s a bit out the way from the centre of Koh Tao so you’d need to get a taxi or bike most places and it’s a bit pricey for what you get. There also isn’t much of a vibe, not many people sat having a drink in the evening - fine if you’re looking for a relaxed stay.

This place is super noisy, either you hear your neighbours or other loud noises from ventilation. If you are a light sleeper like I am, I wouldn’t recommend this place. The breakfast however is really good and I also enjoyed the swimming pool very much. You’ll need a motorbike to get to the town.

The staff were absolutely amazing and super friendly, check-in was super easy and within no time we were in our room. They also helped us with recommendations on lunch/dinner spot and motorcycle rental. You can also book transport to and from the ferry jetty through them. The room was really spacious and had a nice big reading nook (which kind of was an extra single bed) next to the window. It was very clean and lots of natural light came in through the large windows. Toilet was separate from the shower in our private room which is always nice. The breakfast was great, especially for the private room as you'll get to chose an extra fancy breakfast that gets made fresh for you. Highly recommend the muesli bowl it was full of seasonal fruits and a delicious way to start the day! The only thing I'd say is a slight negative for the Dearly is it's location. It's on the south side of the island and because of that a 10/15 min motorcycle drive away from the main town on Koh Tao. So if you're planning on going out at night in town and don't want to drive back drunk you'll have to organise a taxi (you might be able to do this through the hotel I don't know so maybe check with them).

THE BEST HOSTEL I STAYED AT IN THAILAND. Apologies for shouting, but I had an incredible experience of staying in the Dearly hostel. Hostel/Dorms: I stayed for a week in a female dorm which I would recommend - sheets changed every 3 days, new towels available daily if needed, clean and nice smelling space, and comfortable beds that were not bunk beds. Modern and fresh decor with partitions between beds for more privacy. Such a simple and smart solution! Lovely and friendly cleaning ladies as well:)) The hostel itself surrounded by palm trees; I would definitely recommend to check out their common space on the 3rd floor (pictures attached). Shared Bathroom: clean, modern and nicely smelling bathrooms with shampoo and soap provided in the showers. Diving: I did the PADI open water course organised via dear hostel. As I was staying for a week the hostel offers a good deal for the accommodation combined with diving. The big advantage is a deep swimming pool at the hostel where you can practise diving skills before going into the open water. The swimming pool itself was great - they use salt instead of chlorine, which is both appreciated for the skin and hair. I would definitely recommend the diving instructor we had - Fam - who made us feel comfortable and ready to move from the swimming pool to open water diving. When speaking with other people staying in the hostel they also had a very positive experience with their diving instructors. Social: the hostel organised daily activities which were written on the blackboard in the lobby. I have not participated in many as I have been diving/studying for diving at the time, but it sounded like a good opportunity to meet other ppl. Personally, I made the most connections in my dorm bed and during breakfasts:) really great people and smiley faces with people wanting to be approachable. For partying we were going to the Sairee beach part of the island. This is not a party hard hostel, but it had a very good atmosphere of pre-drinks before going out and having a beer with some friends. Staff: very helpful, attentive and accommodating staff. Good email communication as well:) Breakfast: served 7-10 am; very useful to have it in the hostel when doing morning dives; everyday breakfast included toast, pancakes, fruit in coconut milk, and a rice/rice noodle dish. This was the first hostel breakfast I could eat in Thailand as I have food allergies and the rice/rice noodle dish was always very tasty. I recommended this hostel to three of my travel friends & all really enjoyed their stay here. For me, there is no other hostel alternative on Koh Tao ;) definitely will be back for another diving session! Thank you!

I stayed at the Dearly Hostel july 10-13 and I was so happy with the staff, very reliable and friendly and helped woth extras such as ferry transport, my PADI diving course and breakfast was included. The bathrooms are very clean and spacious and they have a pool and hammock to relax in. There is space for Moped parking and it’s 3 minute drive from main Sairee town/Port. Overall would come stay here again in Koh Toa - highly recommend!

We LOVED our stay here! The Hostel itself has great vibes, clean and easy to find. The staff are incredible. They go above and beyond to make sure you are happy. G and Gulf in particular were super friendly. They often offer to take you out in the evenings to cool spots In Koh Tao - so it’s very suitable for solo travelers as well as couples/ friends. The photo attached is when they took us out one evening to a tree house restaurant where we shared a hot pot bbq - such a fun evening! Good social space included also to meet other people, play some pool and have a beer. Would highly recommend!!

The hostel provides all what you need for the island life; comfy bed, clean toilet, nice swimming pool and overall of the hotel is high-maintenant. Besides, they are an eco-friendly hostel with a great hospitality. I have always heard that Koh tao isn’t only a place but the people. I have to admit people at the Dearly Hostel have made it true. I can’t forget to mention that all staff there are my reason to come back to the island and stay there. So if you are looking for a clean, comfy and eco-friendly place to stay together with friendship, this is your place.

The stay at the Dearly was an absolutely incredible experience. I stayed at the hostel after signing up for a diving course with the hostel, which lasted for about 3 days; after I attained my diving license, without much further thoughts I decided to stay longer at the hostel. The place is simply too hard to leave! The atmosphere, staff, hygiene and decor couldn't be any better. Jee and Gulf, the 'hosts' at the hostel, were incredibly friendly and helpful. From organizing a movie night to taking the guests on a night out to eating hot beef noodles at 2 am, they are always down to make your stay as amazing as it can be. All in all, if you're looking for the perfect place for a diving trip or a simple island getaway -- you've just found the right spot.
