Came here after Koh Nang Yuan thinking cheaper place to eat. Boy was i wrong. Only one place to eat and it only had fixed meal for 300 BAHT !!! So you get a Ketchup tasting Pad Thai (most unauthentic one i tasted in Thailand), fruit and a drink. But that's like $10 US.... Drinks are like 150 Baht even ice coffee. Of which we tipped over a glass and broke it and she had the never to charge us 150 Baht for the glass... The table is uneven so be careful. There is chicken wings (5 measely one) for 80 Bht.... We basically ordered one meal and few snacks and it turned out to be one of the most expensive meals/snack i had in Thailand and we really didn't eat !!! Then the broken glass charge to add to it. Extortion. It's a tall climb up but nice view of bay. My advise pack lunch or eat at Koh Nang Yuan (of all places which is inflated but not as bad as here). Did snorkelling here after for 1.5 hrs. Visibilty not the best that day but saw few cool things - Juvenille Harlequin Sweetlip (sooooo pretty with frills & orange & white). At end near shore saw a black tip reef shark. Only people who go there are snorkelling boats and scuba. Beach is not that great - course coral and lots of barking dogs Eat at your own risk there.

I would recommend this place for snorkeling lover who r really looking for the place to stay away from the crowded, Peaceful places and just only few steps u can jump to the ocean to spend the time with lovely fishes 🐠 and coral there. As the Koh Tao and this resort abit indipendent so it would be only one way can reach there by their boat service. Pls make appointments for pick up time with them before come to check in A bungalo and an ocean view room are stunning with the full of nature right here. Even can hearing lovely wave from the ocean too. Cozy and just FYI they will have electricity begin from 6pm till 6am. But it not our problem you can grab some fav book and sitting at the restaurant area which the best view ever of the ocean like our photos. Moreover for their Food the taste really yummy and can say that much better than some restaurant in The Town area too. The great length of stay should recommend for 3 days minimum or longer. As they also provide shuttle boat to drop you at Nangyuan Island and Koh Tao Mae Haad Beach for sightseeing as well. Heard that they are going to add more restaurant which beach bar at the ground floor too and can't wait to see it. I have been for various beaches in Koh Tao but I can guaranteed Ao Muang Mango Bay is the best for truly peaceful place (may have some tourist come to stop by but there are no longer for all the time as per this area also one of the place to do snorkeling) 🛶 Kayak activity also one of the recommend things to do in the evening that comes out a little bit more to Nangyuan Island side that can make u to feel like own this ocean to enjoy the moment till the sun goes down. Staff here also very friendly and helpful. They Make u feel like not away from home as Khun Dol and Khun Tip here who service us with lovely smile as always. Definitely will be a retuning here as often as possible... It was my 4th visit here and the 1st time for my boyfriend right here and he already committed to come back and see this place getting better every year from now on too. Look forward to come back here again!! M&M Journey

The staff were friendly and the resort provided a boat service (free of charge) to Mae Haad and back, twice a day. The bed was comfortable and the bungalow was nice, with a large balcony in lovely surroundings (although the bathroom was very dark when without electric). However, it’s a real hike from the beach to the accommodation and then again, from the restaurant to accommodation. However, the staff did carry our bags on arrival. Unfortunately, the beach is somewhat littered with building supplies as they are building an extension to the property. I was very disappointed to see all the rubbish at the back of the beach, amongst the rocks. I also saw the staff flicking cigarette ends into the sea, on our boat journey to Mae Haad. They have such a beautiful beach and surroundings, why are they not preserving and taking care of it? The chalet (B4) has A/C, fridge and kettle, but electric is only on 6pm until 6am, which is not made obvious on the booking site. Both of the sun loungers where broken and when we approached the owner / manager about this we were told they have been broken for sometime, not really the response we were hoping for! Due to the abundance of small, stingy jellyfish in the bay, there was very little to do other than lounge about. We could not get any channels on the TV, but didn’t bother asking about that, after the response we got to the broken loungers. There was no hanging rail or hangers for clothes (as advertised), so we had to put things out on the balcony to dry. Breakfast was included in the room rate (£43.20 per night through Agoda), it was ok but you would feel robbed if you paid the 250 THB for it (2 eggs, 2 toast, 1 hotdog sausage and a tea or coffee). As for the jellyfish, I have read that there should be a sting station on the beach, with vinegar to apply to stings, emergency numbers and a purple flag should be up if there are jellyfish in the water. Au Muong does not have this and if it’s down to the resort to provide this, that’s no surprise. The highlight of my stay was seeing the lone duck on the beach, that had probably escaped the pot. Could do much better, overall 2 stars.

We love Ao Muong Resort that it is our second time to stay here. Everything is perfect !! A snorkelers dream.... the resort is mango bay so you can walk directly onto the beach seconds away from your room and enjoy the beautiful coral reef there. Lots of marine life to explore. We spotted some black tip reef sharks. The beach lounges are free for guests. Kayak is free for guests and especially nice to use on sunset. Upon arrival to Koh tao you wait at their office nearby the pier and then they will take you to the boat. Additionally once arrived at resort there is a free shuttle boat ride into Koh Tao Pier and Koh Nangyuan that runs twice daily. You get to know the staff and they are flexible with the time they don’t mind to pick you up a bit later or earlier. We stayed in a villa and they are clean and comfortable with a/c. Staff will ask if you want it cleaned or not each morning, but regardless they will always leave you fresh towels and water on your balcony. Breakfast was included although simple it kept you full for the whole day. We are already planning our next trip back to the resort and most definitely recommend to stay here.

This place is the winner of the biggest rip off for lunch on koh tao! We were on a snorkel trip and asked to pull in here to have lunch and was completely charmed by the place. You can't order a la carte the only choice is a simple thai style set lunch menu where you get to choose from one of about six dishes and you get a piece of fruit and a can of coke which you can substitute for water. Fair enough! We didn't pay too much attention and went ahead and ordered. Big mistake. The four of us got a bill for 1,200 baht (300 ea). The price on the menu was super tiny and we were completely shocked and thought there had been a mistake with the bill. Even by koh tao standards this is insanely expensive. You can go to 5 star resorts elsewhere on the island and eat fine dining level food for that price, or pay about 80 to 120 baht for the same thing in Sairee. I suppose guests of the resort have no other choice but to pay it. I get the fact that Mango Bay is a remote part of the island but there's a line somewhere between reasonable and pure greed and they are crossing it in a big way.

Rooms are not clean, we had to ask if she changed the sheets and she admitted she didn't, needs maintenance (!!!) and, except for one girl, the personnel was not friendly. Bay is nice and that's about it. There is a shuttle but we had to wait for 1,5 hour before it would go. The rooms are way too expensive.

The best snorkelling we have seen in Thailand for many years hence our return the bungalows are a bit of a trek up mountain but all your luggage is taken care of and once up there well worth it the staff welcomed us as before with quite a few same faces as 4 years ago which to me means loyal staff and a reasonable boss we are looking forward to the revamp they have planned for later in year and would definetly return if we are ever back this way our only suggestion would be to open up bar down bottom by the beach it's a bit of a trek to head up top for refreshments and the lunch menu was a bit limited catering for visiting boats this place is away from night life but for a few days of paradise this is where you should be heading.many thanks to Jo and all the staff

Booked 3 nights, stayed 1... They pick you up at the pier in a nice boat and it takes about 30min to get to the hotel. Beach is really nice with OK snorkeling. Problem is that there is broken glass everywhere. There are excursion boats coming and going all day leaving no space to even reach the water since they are packed together. The place needs an update. I don't mind that there is no electricity 6am-6pm, that's charming. But no cold drinks... That's not charming at all...in 35 degree heat! We booked a room at the large building but got a "bungalow" up the hill. Seemed nice at first but I'm not a djungle kind of person... Rock hard bed, even for Thai beds... Bugs, mosquitos and lizards everywhere. Not the small qute lizards... Owner and staff are great! Really friendly and funny but it's not enough. I'm really sorry but I did have higher expectations for that pricerange.

They was very UNCORRECT!!!!! On information you have FREE transfer in Good weather, in Bad weather NO transfer!! When we arrived, it was beautiful weather, but they said: its bad weather and for free no transfer, but for 400 baht yes, transfer... pff! .... Otherwise: NO way by motor!! Only by taxiboat!! So in information not appear that transfer is BOAT and the only way to go there just BOAT!! And go back also.. The "manager" was very very unpolite, rude, stubborn, arrogant!!! Not like a boss. And not professional!... They just wanted more money, but finally they didn't get it.. :) So they lost bigger. Because finally we found a beautiful hotel, where we spent, by motorbike and close to the centre! :)

Very nice place to spend the day. Very quiet and cool there. It's really hard to get there, use a real bike, not a scooter! U can do it with a scooter, but with a bike its way better. Nice water and good for snorkeling. If u r not experienced in driving, it is hard to get there.
