Naing, who runs this place is a superb host who always has a smile on his face. He made sure we have a wonderful time and helped where he could our entire stay.
After we reported that our TV is broken, he replaced it within 30 minutes.
Extending our stay 4 times on a short handed basis was not an issue despite the fact we gave him a challenge planning his room occupancy.

Also his housekeeping team did an outstanding job. Not only was our room perfectly cleaned and water provided on a daily basis, also Mo provided us his private scooter within seconds after I told Naing that I urgently need to reschedule the ticket for the ferry.

Rooms and balconies are quite big which makes it comfortable to spend time in the room. Beds are very comfortable and showers worked fine with enough water pressure. You can run Netflix on the TV and internet worked fine without interruptions.

Also great about this place - there are two ways you can get to Sairee Beach from there:
1. You take the first left when going down the hill and you get to the middle part (Ban's Diving Resort).
2. You stay on the road down the hill and get onto the road that leads to the northern part of Sairee Beach (Barracuda Roof Top Restaurant).
Each way: Walking 15 min. / Scooter 5 min.

What a wonderful place. It’s far enough from the action that it’s dead quiet at night (and the stars!) but an easy 10 minute walk down the hill. Our ferry was 6 hours late but our pickup was there waiting. I had communicated with the office through our booking app about the late arrival and they were quick to respond at each turn. I wish I could remember the name of the man who picked us up and ran reception, but he is an absolute star. Full of information and help, always a smile, always a joke. I think he really enjoys taking care of people and it makes for a special stay. Room was beautiful and the private pool was the cherry on top. Someone below commented on the bathroom - my hot water was perfect and the build of the bathroom is not anything I haven’t seen at dozens of other hotels in Thailand (maybe you should see the world more). Ten out of ten stay, down to the free drop at the ferry upon departure.

From the moment my partner and I stepped off of the ferry we were in good hands. We were shuttled to the hotel where we had motorbikes rented (they procured those for us prior to our arrival) and a warm reception. We stayed in the pool villa which was so lovely and the view from the deck was magnificent! The staff walked us through any and every issue we had, booking us with tours, giving advice and generally making us comfortable! May be my favorite spot I’ve stayed on Koh Tao (this was my third trip there).

Nice and fresh with Natural, clean room and friendly staff. Good for relaxing during our holiday. Sip a cold beer looking at the sunset on the edge of the sea There is a private pool next to it and large private terrace behind our room. Breakfast served to the room.

I first stayed at Matina in the villa with private pool with sunset view & it was my favorite place to stay on oh Tao. The manager & staff were incredibly friendly, helpful & the villa was neat & clean, with a once a weekly cleaning included. My balcony faced Sairee Beach where I viewed the sunset with the privately on my deck. Would highly recommend staying here again.

We spent 10 days at these villas in September situated 15 mins walk to Sairee Beach
Stayed in both types of accommodation
Villa with a plunge pool and without a pool
Both were great rooms with good showers and very comfy beds with nice linen
Room was very large and had Netflix
Good breakfast and water tea & coffee included
Very new villas yet to be completely finished
Outdoor Pool not yet built but if you can afford the villas with pool on deck it’s well worth it
Great view from some villas and easy walk to village through gorgeous surroundings
Staff very helpful friendly and kind
Motorbikes for hire
Highly recommended

All in all we enjoyed our stay at Matina Mountain, but it needs a serious improvement, if they want to charge 3000 thb per night.
We had a villa with private pool on the balcony and it was very well designed with a complete glass front overlooking the pool and a stunning landscape of jungle and sea. The interior couldn’t keep up with this luxurious design: cheap Ikea-furniture, an enormous shower with rust stained floor, lukewarm water and only one soap which you have to carry all the time back and forth between the sink and shower. No hot water at all by the sink.
Let’s be serious: 90€/Night are a huge rate for Thailand and we would just expect a warm shower and a hand soap by the sink and a body soap in the bathroom. The breakfast was also quite poor: we had to choose between coffee or juice. If you want both, you have to pay extra, as well for some fruits. The Thai style breakfast was the tiniest ever: a small chicken rice soup bowl and a drink. It’s not about the 50thb which one extra costs, but it should be included if you pretend to be a luxury accommodation by a Thai luxury price.
A positive point was definitely the staff: guy and girl were always smiling, helpful and trying to give good tips in spite of a basic English. The cleaning people were also friendly and helpful.
All in all a nice stay. You have to walk in the darkness up and down in the evening to come back home, but the view you have on the hill is really stunning. The should overthink their service, by offering lower rates or giving more for the actual ones. We knew what we paid for in advance, but just expected more for Thai conditions.

We stayed for 3 nights at this amazing hotel and we did not want to leave at the end of our vacation. Quiet location, but a short 3 minute scooter ride from sairee beach. You can rent scooters directly from the hotel. The rooms are exactly as in the advertised pictures - big, modern, and very clean. The staff at the hotel were incredibly kind and helpful. Breakfast was nice and delivered to our room every morning. Our room (room 202) had a beautiful, private pool with a view of the sea. I highly recommend staying at this hotel! I assure you, you will LOVE this hotel and the people who run it.

Stayed at the hotel for one week. Welcoming staff helped with everything we needed. Free snorkeling equipment and beach towels. We rented a nice scooter from the hotel for 200 baht a day as well which i recommed because of the steep way up. Room was very clean and modern.

Breakfast was delivered every day to the room and you could choose between a few different menus.

The hotel would be my first choice if id come back to koh tao :)
