We had beachfront villa. Room was nice and good, bugs stayed outside. Location of our place was good right by the beach, but the beach was so crowded, because resort sells tickets to beach for other people.

At evening and night there were almost complete silence which was good, only crickets chirping.

Breakfast was tasty but so small, you had to choose one option what to eat and if you would have wanted more you should have paid. If you took coffee you had to pay for juice.

Resort was overpriced in my opinion and compared to other places. Even at Sairee beach we had more privacy during the day. Location was fine, good restaurants 1km from resort. Staff was okay, some were very nice.

We didn’t stay here but paid the 50 Baht entry fee to use the beach. What a waste of money. The beach and the sea absolutely stinks of faeces and sewerage, and we felt filthy after getting in and out. If you walk from the main town it take a while to get here too. Save your money and go to the other beaches on the island.

It could be SO much better but it lacks attention to detail. Still building materials around from the refurbishment! No chair in the bedrooms, no hot tap, no swimming pool!
Clean rooms, AMAZING view and housekeeping good.
Just not worth the money.

We stayed in a Deluxe Seafront Bungalow and it was truly beautiful. The teak bungalow was spacious, clean, and gorgeous, the view from the balcony was unbelievable and you could hear the waves under the bungalow in the evening during high tide which we loved. I found the mattress to be very hard and difficult to sleep on but my husband seemed to do ok.

You have access to two absolutely stunning beaches with great snorkeling at Freedom Beach. There is also a viewpoint between the two beaches that you can hike to that has unbelievable views of the area. The property is quite vertical from the reception area down to the restaurant and beach (lots of stairs), and there are concrete walkways connecting the one beach (Taa Toh Lagoon) to the seaside bungalows and around the corner to Freedom Beach. The entire property is just really beautiful, and clean, and the staff are all super friendly, helpful and responsive.

The property didn't seem to be fully operational when we were there (likely due to Thailand still reopening due to Covid), with some of the advertised amenities unavailable, and we found the restaurant to be adequate at best which was a little disappointing as you are relatively isolated in this location. For the price point we had expected better food options compared to other resorts we had stayed in.

All that being said, it was probably one of the most beautiful resorts we stayed at during our 6 week trip around Thailand, we enjoyed our time at this resort and would be interested in staying again in more normal times.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights and it was lovely. The bungalow was spacious and clean, good bathroom but the view... just amazing. Local restaurant was also very good and the staff was very nice and fun to talk to.

The breakfast was nice, we could choose two meals each from their menu, coffee, juices and water was included.

The beach was clean and very nice with very little people. Amazing for swimming and snorcheling.

Also the hike to the top of the mountain was free for the hotel guests, othewise you would have to pay about 50 Baths per person.

The hotel offered a free shuffle from the pier.

We stayed at the resort over new year's with my elderly father, my brother and his family (two young kids) and my family (9 yo/12yo). We had a wonderful time. The staff was super friendly. The views are sensational. Our room was beach side (on the quiet beach), it was clean, spacious for two (we stayed with the four of us which was ok...) and had a great Balcony with a big day bed and chairs - did I mention the sensational view? One of the beaches next to the 'off-site' restaurant can get a crowded but the other one next to the Hotel restaurant was pretty empty and quiet (private I believe). There is snorkelling on the doorstep (probably better at the busier beach) but you can either swim there or walk there. We enjoy Thai Food and thought the restaurant of the Hotel provided nice meals that were authentic and not westernised. The breakfast was solid, maybe a bit on the boring side but you could order two meals so there was plenty. There are a few steps to content with which is part of the charm of the resort and I think probably normal for most places on the coast in Koh Tao as it is steep. It is a bit of a walk to other restaurants (1km+) so I would recommend a scooter. But I think a scooter is preferable anywhere on Koh Tao to explore the Island. Traffic is rather quiet. If I would come back to Koh Tao (which is possible) I would probably not look any further and book Freedom Beach Resort again without hesitation.

We booked the deluxe Seaview bungalow on the cliff. The views from the room are insane, beautiful blue water on all sides. You can walk round to freedom beach which has a nice bar and restaurant or use the other beach and restaurant. Main course say 150 baht, coke 30 or 40, pretty reasonable sairee beach kinda pricing. Fair I thought.

We really got the sense of it being a family run resort the people were so lovely to us even by the normally lovely Thai level of people.

The rooms arent 5* luxury, but clean, nice shower and sink, but they do come with a world class amazing view and the staff really add to the experience. I was very sad to leave.

Really nice view on the ocean. The breakfast is good, loved the banana pancakes. Room is nice, comfy and has enough space. You should get a scooter because you really have to walk a bit to get to restaurants and 7 Eleven etc. One of the two beaches is really crowded but the other one a the Resort is nice and has reserved beach lounger for the guests of the resort

I do about 200 to 259 days of traveling per year so I stay at A LOT of hotels. And this one is right up there with the best of them if not top of them all. We're talking insanely beautiful views, gorgeous and well equiped rooms, the friendliest staff you've ever seen. If you go to Ko Tao, spend a little extra and go here. The bungalows are out of this world!
