Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hostel staff are very friendly and reasonably helpful. We booked a double room it was fine but the mattress was basically on the floor (raised platform). We had two fans which were awful. It was so hot and the balcony was tiny. All very clean but just awfully warm - it was colder outside which is saying something.

The hotel is clean, and the staff is really friendly. I stayed in a fan room (the room with just one fan is incredible hot, even more than outside temperature), so I asked if I could change to an a/c room, but the hotel was fully booked, so they provided an extra fan for my room, making everything better, proving that they are concerned about our stay.

Amonrada: A Hotel of Horrors Amonrada is a nightmare hotel. You could not pay me to stay here again. Do tiny coffin-like rooms, raw sewage, giant spiders, mini-ants, blood on your linens, and fake maid service sound nice? Let's review: 1) The rooms are concrete and very very small, not much bigger than the beds inside them. There are no screens on the doors or windows, letting the mosquitos and spiders in all night. Closing the doors and windows turns the room into a coffin like oven, but the gaps in the doors will still let the biggest of the spiders in. 2) Raw sewage in the bathrooms. If you use the toilet and flush it, be prepared to have the urine and feces spew out from the base and onto the floor. If another guest in another room uses the toilet, be ready for their waste to spew out onto your bathroom floor too. The whole room smells like raw sewage at all times, but significantly increases anytime someone in the building flushes. Don't touch the pipes under the sink either, they will fall apart and gift you with more stench. 3) Bugs, bugs, bugs! Since there are no screens on the doors or windows, the bugs will enter the room and terrorize you. You will need to wear bug replant to bed to keep the mosquitos from eating you alive. Mini-ants seem too come out of know where, even if you don't bring food into the room (they made a home in my laptop). Most terrifying of all were the giant fist-sized huntsman spiders in the room. I had to get rid of two in 24-hours, one near my bed at night and another on the curtains the next morning. Tiny blood droplets on the sheets would also suggest bedbugs are here too. 4) The room and linens are filthy. The entire area around the hotel is made of sandy dirt roads. Taking your shoes off at the door will not prevent sand from getting in the room and in your bed. (Did not have this problem anywhere else.) The linens were disgusting, dingy yellow dirty before even using them. I also found blood droplets on the sheets from someone else. They will only service the room every other day and they did not actually change the pillow cases or bottom sheet (obvious due to the blood droplets). It was as if they tied to trick me into thinking they cleaned it. 5) As far as amenities like free wifi and cable TV... The free wifi is so slow and over crowded that it is pretty much useless. Cable TV means 10 channels total, BBC News is the only English speaking one. Don't plan on charging your phone, batteries, cameras, etc. while you're at dinner. Without the room key in the room, the power goes out. I could go on but I think you get it. There are several hotels here by different names but run by the same management. I would avoid all hotels located on the same block as this one. There are plenty of nice hotels with caring trustworthy staff at the same price point. This is not worth it and you will regret it. The stress from the coffin room, spiders (still having nightmares), and sewage actually brought this grown man to tears. Thank God I only had to stay here 3 days while waiting for my rental apartment to be ready for move in.

We started by renting 2 night but i think we ended up staying like 10 night.. Its a nice place, the staff is friendly and helped us to where we should rent a bike (which is Olis in town btw, dont rent anywhere else not worth it). The room was simple, quite small but just enough for us. Perhaps a bit too big AC for the small room but nice way to fast cool down after a hot day out. The location is nice. Its at the end of the town but Sariee is small so not a problem. For us it was nice since we could get away from all the noise. Would say as nice as a Budget room can get!

Up in front, there is a laundry service directly on the other side in a new (hotel) building. Our laundry was really smelly afterwards and we needed to get it done a second time. By the way, washing in the hotel is not allowed for saving water. Staying at the hotel, using the facilities like shower / TOILETS or wifi after check out is not allowed. Yeah the rooms on this islands are all a little bit overpriced. That's true, but remember you are on an island! Still there are better places around for the same money and better conditions(Google simple life) My list: - building side (it's not to noisy but we think we had a lot of breakdowns with the power because of it, nothing was working for sometimes half an hour) - hot shower was broken after using it ones (the first time it was good. For budget hot showers are not everywhere on the island) - the room is really small - tv wasn't working most of the time (cable problem we think, only one Programm in english, but doesn't matter so much because you are going out a lot) - door didn't close properly (mossis came inside the whole time, but we didn't have a room without them on this island!) - the room heads up a lot (Espacially with fan it's annoying) - safe - clothe line outside the (small) balcony - hostel and hotel in one, so you can meet a lot of people if you want - not noisy even with the building side - seemed like the owner didn't even get a mail from the booking side, when we came there. Didn't know who we are, but still got a room fortunately.

Me and a friend stayed in a double private room for 3 nights in November. The place is in a good location, Sairee is tiny so everywhere is a good location! I was happily surprised with the room, the photos online made it look tragic but it was perfectly fine. Afew things need updating, desperately. Like the caterpillar light for example. There are giant holes in the wall in the bathroom which I gathered was the vent system for the shower. However, a HUGE lizard came through these holes and made home in a bathroom. Took a good hour to get it out and then ended up duct taping the holes so I wouldn't get back in. The air con works well and the tv has good Channels, just had a loud high pitched ring on it the whole time it's turned on. If your young and up for a party I would defo recommend doing the choppers pub crawl as that is my favorite memory from Tao. The bar is 2 minutes from the hotel too! The reception staff is abit of a fruit loop but got our boat tickets through him and everything was fine! It's a good budget hotel for a good location on Tao.

We stayed in a double fan room because the dorms were full. I felt 600baht was overpriced considering no aircon, as AC rooms in Bangkok are 500. The room also got VERY hot during the day, as it faced the sun. The fan did very little to help this so I had many cold showers. The staff are neither friendly nor rude. I however don't like the abundance of signs everywhere stating the many things you can be fined for... I would have liked to stayed somewhere else but we hadn't booked and spent about 2hours in the midday heat looking but most cheap options were full and as we weren't diving that didn't help. All in all ok, but nothing great.

Friendly staff, in particular one English speaking dude. You can also book boat trips or your travel tickets through them when you move on. Room was very decent for the price with good shower, TV and wifi and cleaned everyday (they make the bed and change towels). Was woken up each morning at 8am by building work across the way and Bear in mind you can hear what's happening next door clear enough. I was awoken by the girl next door 'entertaining' a bloke a couple of nights but I won't begrudge the hotel for that!

We booked in advance to stay in a standard fan room for one week. However, on the second night we noticed a few bed bugs on the bed, then noticed blood on ourselves and on the sheets. We looked on the mattress and found many more bedbugs and old, dried blood which shows that the bedbugs has been an ongoing problem! We left the room at 1am that night and stayed somewhere else. When we returned in the morning our room (which we were obviously still paying for) had been cleaned out and somebody else had been put in it!!! When we politely spoke to the manager about the problem and asked for a refund he quickly got very angry and started shouting and swearing at us. Eventually he said he would upgrade us into an aircon room for the remainder of our stay but would not refund us for the two nights that we didn't stay there. However he then realised he had overbooked and we were shunted into his friend's beach bungalow which he was very unhappy about but we were very glad about. An extremely unpleasant experience all round and the way in which we were treated was unacceptable. If you want to enjoy your time in Koh Tao DO NOT stay here!

Stayed here for 5 nights. Good clean double room with air conditioning and a fan. Staff are a bit grumpy but that didn't matter. Very good value for money! Only a 2 minute walk to the beach, far enough away from bars that you can't hear them but close enough that you feel safe walking back alone. Samantha cafe opposite really good for drinks and food.
