We stayed for 4 nights at this friendly, family owned and managed hotel right on the beach in Mae Haad.

Don't let it's proximity to the main pier put you off staying here.

The AC rooms are beachside, clean, modern and great value for money.

The staff are super friendly and very helpful.

The beach is very clean and the beach stretches several hundred metres down to the rocks offering lots of sunbathing and swimming options including a safe swimming area.

Ananda Villa has two great on site restaurants, Breeze and Pranees Kitchen that open from early morning to around 10pm and the area is super quiet in the evenings.

If you're looking for a friendly, relaxing and good value place to stay on Koh Tao you can't go far wrong with Ananda Villa.

We stayed here while diving with black turtle dive. Ananda villa had a great location, on the beach, paddle boards and right across from the dive shop. The food at Breeze was fresh and everything we tried was delicious! Couldn’t ask for anything more.. We will be back!

I had the ocean view room and it was wonderful - the view is absolutely incredible. Room was clean with comfortable bed and nice high ceilings. Shower was good. Restaurant on site had a nice vibe and good food. Room was well insulated so you couldn't hear any of the outside noise. Beach in front of the hotel is nice for swimming and tanning - some days there was a lot of garbage in the water but that was everywhere on the island.
Wifi isn't that great - ok to check emails but video calls and downloading files/images was impossible. Had a bit better luck with the wifi at the restaurant.
The busy beach is just a 10 minute walk away and it was nice to be 1 min away from the ferry terminal. Great and convenient place to stay!

Better than expected! Saw it was a 2-3 star hotel, but a 4 star experience. Ok rooms, but the location on the beach, Breezes restaurant’s location and amaaazing food on site make it worth everything. Beside the dove shop. Big balcony. Good enough beds. Shower was good enough. Was better than I expected :)

We stayed for six days while diving with The Black Turtle Dive Centre. The price is reasonable while we paid a little extra for the sea view room. The staff decorated it for us because it’s our honeymoon.

Pros: The view and sunset. Place to hang our wet swim wear. Restaurant downstairs that opens 6:30-22:00. Convenient location and lots of restaurants, 7-11, pharmacies nearby.

Cons: Reception is not 24 hours. Shampoo and body wash bottles are made of glass so it’s easily breakable.

We were greeted by a sweet Thai family and escorted to our room. The room was very clean with all amenities that you think of, inside. Nice bathroom and spacious room with beach towels and a restaurant downstairs facing the beach. Lot of other eateries around.

Hands down the best service and nicest hotel staff we have had in our two months in Thailand. Staff was very helpful with our reservation and onwards journey from Koh Tao. Rooms were clean with a very nice bed and good balcony with sea view. We enjoyed our stay so much that we came back after a stay at a different hotel.
We used the dive center connected to the hotel, and it was great!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for three nights. It is located about 200 metres from the busy ferry port, right on the beach and close to restaurants and shops, and offers great beach walks or on the nearby bath that runs passed numerous resort cafes and shops, to Sai Ri beach. We were seamlessly checked in by a thoroughly charming and welcoming young lady and shown to our room, which was far better and far better equipped than I expected for the price that we had paid. We also had a great balcony with a good view of the sea. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the room was very quiet given the close proximity to the port. We were so pleased with it that we would stayed here again for sure.

Winning points are:
+Very helpful reception
+Clean basic rooms
+Warm&strong shower
+ nice local restaurant, Pranee's Kitchen, next to the property, see our review
+Very central at the pier town area, only 2min walking to the pier (no need for expensive taxis) and to the shopping area

+/- the property is 7 min comfy walking (up+down) to the south boundary of the Sairee Beach, where you'd find a lot of bars, rest'ts, etc.

..and the caution areas:
- you'd hear the noise of the ferries very early in the morning
- you'd hear garbage collection trucks' noise very early in the morning
- Sliding door to the balconies are loosely fixed to their rails, so on the windy nights you'd hear the sliding doors making noise (we fixed it by squeezing folded papers beneath the sliding doors)
- Reception is open from morning (?) till 9pm. If you need something, organize accordingly

This looks very nice in the pictures, and I'm sure your stay would be nice if you book the Superior Room in the main building. On the other hand, the bungalow we booked was horrible. The room was really dark, and it looked like it hadn't been updated since it was first built. Sure, that's not a big deal when you just want a place to lay your head at night, but the kicker is that it smelt like a urinal, even after airing it out for a few hours and running the water taps for a while. When we advised the front desk, they only offered to mask the stench with room spray--no offer to switch rooms or anything. We had booked for two nights, but left after one with no refund for the unused night.

Sure, the room rate is cheap, but that price is pretty standard on the island, and you should be able to get a clean room at that. Otherwise, make sure you book a room in the main building--not a bungalow!
