Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing views and I had a great experience staying here. It’s a family owned hotel and they are all very friendly and helpful. I love how unique this hotel is., situated high up into the hills yet still only 15 mins from the action. Highly recommended

This hotel is 10 mins by scooter from the busy pier area and Sairee beach. The breakfast options while simple were a great start to the day. Served in the most beautiful location. The bar area is stunning concrete marvel, high on a cliff looking out over the bay below and private snorkelling platform. The room was quite and a jungle experience surrounded my nature, this serenity does come at the price of a very steep location and the walk from breakfast back to the room is a small workout. We loved our time here and extended our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and even organised tours for us.

Room Tip: Must be okay with walking up steep hills. Hiring a scooter will make your stay here much more...

My boyfriend and I visited koh Tao and went to moon dance for 6 days. When we arrived at koh Tao one of the employe came to pick us up to the resort and helped us with our huge travel backpack. Then we discovered the bungalow we have rented up to the hill with an amazing view on the see and the jungle. The bungalow is simple but super clean and you have everything you need. The food at the restaurant is great and really cheap, they are also many vegetarians options. Also the personnel was just perfect, really friendly and helpful if we had any questions. You can also rent a scooter from them for only 250 bath a day which is really cheap for the island. To conclude amazing place, amazing people! We are planning to come back for one month this time in december !

The service was friendly and amazing. The views were magnificent and the room was tucked right into the mountain with an outdoor shower and toilet. It's the true meaning of the word rustic - but make sure that's what you REALLY want. We found the outdoor bathroom lacking in privacy, the room cumbersome to walk to and the hotel itself far away from what we really wanted to do - but that DOES NOT reflect on the hotel - it was an awesome experience with strong wifi, taxi service, and lots of smiles, just not for me.

The Moondance Magic View celebrates the Koh Tao terrain with wonderfully landscaped paths and traditional bamboo bungalows. Perched on ocean side granite cliffs that overlook the crashing waves and tinier islands, we truly loved staying in these amazing structures. The entire construction of a each site is made of bamboo with concrete corridors surrounding it for privacy. The walls are made of interwoven bamboo sticks, while the roof is covered with wrapped bamboo-straw clamped by bamboo sticks. The unit is complete with a private terrace, hammock and small sitting table. The restaurant and common areas features a series of cascading patios meandering down the cliffside to the ocean (be sure to take it all the way down through a mini cave to the waters edge). Each morning you’ll be treated to coffee, juice and complete breakfast. The host cooks right there and we highly recommend staying in for dinner at least once. I don’t think we could have expected anything more from the Moondance. Their staff was very kind, the included breakfast was truly delicious and their help managing the way to and from the many beaches around the island was very much appreciated. After a week on the island I feel Moondance Magic View was the perfect place to get away from the main strip of tourists, parties and rally get to experience island living to the fullest.

Me and my friends had a great stay in our bungalow. The view is magical and the staf was very friendly. The food was really good aswell! The snorkling was amazing from the rocks and you could rent motorbikes so you could go around the island.

It's an amazing place, we'll always remember. No, not 5 *, no air conditioning and no cabinet. The bathroom is outdoors, no hot water. Still, I spent the most beautiful 5 days of my life here. The restaurant is not very good, serving Soso. Be sure to hire a motorcycle and drive around the island.

Having just travelled for 15 hrs I was exhausted and just wanted to lie down for a bit,but I was expected to pay for my room before I saw it. Basic does not come into it. The steep "ladder" down to the toilet area was a bit of a struggle, the shower was positioned so that I was in full view of the verandas of other huts and the main path. The roof leaked onto the bed, the light was like a strobe all night. Views from my veranda were obscured by the hotels washing line, every day!! If I hadn't of already paid, one night would have been more than enough!! Very delapidated

I don't know why we aren't staying longer! This place is so amazing. The customer service has been exceptional. The food truly amazing. The homes so lovely. When we expressed we needed a softer bed (entirely subjective), they were more than happy to help. Come here and stay for a while. Our big regret was staying only two nights. I will be back soon. There are snorkels to use just a short walk down to the rocks or taxis for very reasonable prices.
