Founded in 2002, Charm Churee Villa plans to develop our resort to be the best for our guests.

Charm Churee Villa is located on a 300-Rai (120 acres or 48 hectares) seaside piece of well preserved jungle, facing west. With more than 1,500 meters shoreline, the estate consists of 4 beaches.

Pak Bung (which means Morning Glory) Bay is the most northern beach (about 10 minutes walk from the main pier) consists of sand, gravels and rocks, it is about 80 meters in length.

The next beach southward is Jansom Bay, which is another 5 minutes walk from Pak Bung Bay (named means Moon-Like) is around 160 meters wide consists mostly of sand, huge rocks, corals and colorful fish. Perfect for snorkeling.

Neptune is the next one down south; about 20 minutes walk from Jansom Bay. Neptune, one of the best kept little secret coves in Koh Tao, consists of mostly rocks is perfect for private sun bathing with small sandy beach. It's approximately 80 meters in length.

Last but not least, is a twin: Sai Nuan beach I and II. It's mostly sandy beaches with a set of big rocks between them. Sai Nuan I is a sandy beach with the width of 240 meters and Sai Nuan II is a little smaller.

This shoreline estate is not only known for the well kept jungle land, but also its pristine underwater world. Along the 1,500 meters coast consists of several famous snorkeling and scuba diving sites.

Jansom bay, splendid sunset and spectacular rocks are the ingredients to emphasize the beauty of Charm Churee Villa.

I spent 3 nights in Charm Churee Villa, Ko Tao after staying in Ko Samui. We took Lomprayah Catamaran for 2 hours from Ko Samui to Ko Tao. Nice and comfortable ferry with free transfer service in Ko Samui. Besides, Charm Churee Villa provides the free pick-up service from the pier to the resort.

Charm Churee Villa is not a luxury resort, but primitive and unsophisticated design. The staff were nice and friendly. Do not expect to much on the breakfast, as it was very simple. Highly recommend to have dinner in Charm Churee's restaurant with the romantic ambiance, which is built on the rocks. The food there was okay, but the price was inexpensive. I also had lunch in Sensi Paradise, the food was delicious.

I agree that Jansom bay is one of the most beautiful and private beaches in Ko Tao (if you are not the room guest of Charm Churee, you are requested to pay for 100 baht to stay at the beach). Jansom Bay has great marine life and you can see a lot of fish just siitting on the beach, which means it is excellent for snorkeling. The snorkeling equipment was free to be provided for each guest.

The prices of the spa in Charm Churee is reasonable. They had a promotion on dead sea salts body wrap with facial and Thai massage for about 2 to 2.5 hours at only 1600 baht. Please note that if you pay by credit card, an additional charge of 3% of the bill is needed.

The beach front Premier Villa and the beach front villa have the best location, as they are located right on the beach.

It is only 10-15 minutes walk from the resort to the town and you have to pass through couple of resorts to reach the town. Several restaurants and bars can be found in the town. Besides, it is easy to buy the diving or snorkeling activities from the shops of the town (of course Charm Churee also has the snorkeling trips).

I stayed at sunset villa which was located at the lower side of the path (the passageway to the beach) . The window in the shower room had no curtain. Although there were trees outside, I could see the people walking around or the staff swept on the path when I looked up. Besides, I was not sure what it was, but we saw an animal's on the roof beam (we doubted it was a rat, I wasn't sure, as I only saw her tail). I told the staff about this, and they did take action immediately. They also advised us that we need to close the windows and the doors all the time.

Overall, I think Charm Churee is a lovely resort and I think I will go back for the stunning view of Jansom Bay.

We spent the extra money to spend two nights in what we thought was a luxury villa atmosphere. Our beachfront spot was a 12 minute hilly trek from reception through the sand and rocks. Everything was damp and looked dated. Very far from any solid night life or good restaurants. If you want to feel isolated with a beautiful view, this is your place. Disappointed. The photos make it look much much better than it actually is.

Upon arriving to the resort we were astonished at how beautiful the resort is. Our trip originated as a backpacking trip throughout Thailand, and as a way of decompressing to shift to the island life, we treated ourselves. Te resort is absolutely beautiful and the views are breathtaking.

The villa we reserved by far exceeded our expectations especially with the retro style fridge on our private porch. Once we began to immerse ourselves into the island we quickly realized this place charges up the woohah, even down to missing q-tips (not really but you get my drift). It was like walking into an estate sale with literally every object in the room labeled with a price tag. They even had the map of the resort labeled with 1000 baht if found missing.

The kicker was when we needed to contact our dive school to have them pick us up, and got charged for a LOCAL phone call.

I definitely recommend this place for the views and private beach/snorkeling, but beware of walking in fear of being charged for using the soap.

My husband and I have travelled extensively throughout Thailand and many other parts of the World. We have never previously posted a review of any hotel, some have been superb, some have been average but we realise that this is normal and understandable. However we are currently staying in this hotel having paid 17500 Baht (approx. £380) for a 4 night stay. Without doubt this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in within this price range. Having arrived yesterday we are currently patiently awaiting our 3rd room change, our 1st room was tiny and had no balcony (which we paid for), our 2nd room is beyond description with bathroom/toilet facilities which are almost uninhabitable. Lets hope room 3 is somewhat better, we will let you know! The staff in general have been rude, surly and unhelpful though special mention must be given to staff member Daraphan.J-think of the most petulant, stroppy teenager you could imagine and then times it by 10. We have never met anyone less suited to a career in the customer service industry. As you will notice from other reviews when guests complain they are told that the manager is in Bangkok. Our advice would be to stay anywhere else on the entire planet but if you do decide to stay here we wish you all the luck in the world.

I want to start by saying that I have stayed here in the past on a separate visit. My last visit was mediocre/poor, as the rooms were outdated, damp, and had big holes in the exterior room walls that allowed wildlife (coconut rats) to easily walk straight through the bedroom - and i booked a deluxe cottage (not the cheap room). The location is secluded and far from anything - you need a motorbike to even get a normal priced bottle of water. The staff were clueless and slow, the beach was desolate with 1-2 people on it. It looked like a property that once was grand, but was never maintained. I was with a significant other on this particular trip, however, so we were fine with being one of the few people there and the view of the ocean made up for the lack of quality and service at the hotel. Now that I look back, it was a poor choice - especially for the money.

Fast forward to 2017 (this month), and I am traveling with my 60 year old mother and sister whom are visiting Thailand. We were staying in Koh Tao for 4 nights and Koh Phangan for 4 nights, and I booked this hotel again due to the rooms being built on the rocky cliff with a cool view. MISTAKE. I forgot about the service at this place, and unfortunately a monsoon hit on our arrival day to the island. Our flight landed and the ferry arrived to Koh Tao after a bumpy ride where 80% of the boat was throwing up. When we were dockside, people were fleeing Koh Tao in the hundreds. The streets had ankle deep water and the roads looked like mini rivers on the hills. I was staying at a different property for two nights before going to Charm Churee. After staying just one night, we realized the conditions were unsafe and the roads and water levels were getting seriously worse. The monsoon rains did not let up and most people were evacuating the island. I called Charm Churee to cancel my reservation and inform them of the situation (as if they didn't know) but no one picked up. Since I booked through, I called the company and cancelled the rooms as we were fleeing the island. I understand that I was past the cancellation period, however it was not possible - especially with a 60 year old mother- to wade through the waist-deep water to get to Charm Churee Villa. The hotel did not care about the situation, airport closures, collapsing roads, etc. They simply said I should have checked-in as booked.

I have called the reservation department numerous times and followed up with an email. The calls did not go through at first and finally a response email was from a "manager" saying that a refund was not possible and that we should have checked in as normal. I am not sure how they wanted my family to "check-in" given half the island was under water and they were telling people to leave on the one ferry that was taking passengers back to the mainland (all other ferries cancelled each day). Not satisfied with the response, I asked for a manager to call me and speak to me directly. I received no such call. Finally I found a number that worked for the "reservations department", and the person who answered the phone said there was no manager there and that they were unsure where he/she was. I have come to the conclusion that there is no reservations are simply calling a mobile phone. I have lost over $350 on a 2 night stay here. I was not refunded, I was treated like an idiot, and I was not even able to get a credit. They took the money and that was that - I am now following up with my bank.

All in all, this hotel does not look like the website. DO NOT be fooled. The accommodations are truly rustic despite being called a resort. The beach is not maintained properly and has excessive rubbish ( i remember that from my last visit). The rubbish is also seen in the water. This is truly unfortunate, because the bay can be truly beautiful if maintained by competent people. The beach bar is not a beach bar - it is a poorly staffed (1 person - actually looked closed) concrete circle that serves expensive drinks and absolutely horrible food. The staff is actually clueless and is not able to maintain any level of professionalism. Clueless to the point of frustration. The reservations department is a joke and their customer service is an even bigger joke. This place needs to go out of business.

Look at the negative reviews from past guests and believe them. I don't understand why I even considered returning - after this situation I will never think about it again. I am not even sure how this place stays in business to begin with.

We stayed 3 days in Charm churee villas and we didn't like it.

- when we arrived they put us in a dodgy room which was a meter away from public toilet and with no place to seat outside. When we explained that this was not the room type that we booked they told us that our room was taken by someone else and the resort was fully booked. After45min of unpleasant discussion, they finally moved us into the room we were supposed to have (!!)
- my biggest concern is the quality and the health of the coral which is part of their private beach : the coral is heavily destroyed and bleeching is occuring massively. There are now many place around koh tao who are working on bioproject and coral protection, but this was not the case at all at Charm Churee
- the resort is falling apart with minimum maintenance, this is definitely not high standard
- the place is full of mosquitoes and you cannot stay outside after 6pm (my record is 20bites in 1m30!)
- on the second day we had several phone calls from the reception pushing us to leave the room early on our check out day. Check out is supposed to happen at 12pm however they called from 9am asking us to leave the room. We left the room at 10am and we explained we wanted to spend the rest of the day on their private beach. By 2.30pm a management staff came to us when we were ordering food from their restaurant asking us to leave immediately (didnt even have the time to finish my pizza!). The person was really rude and not polite

- the only good thing was the breakfast

To sum up, it is falling apart, and nothing like charming. Please avoid this place!

We Recently stayed at Charm Churee in Feburary of this year to celebrate our Honeymoon (Firstly we were not even Congratulated) The staff were mostly helpful. The room was nice but every evening a rat left droppings in the bathroom which was often not cleaned by the housekeeping stay. In additional we got violent food poisoning from their Star Restaurant which the manager proceed to deny calling us liars and stating they would charge us regardless. (we only ate at their restaurant that day for breakfast and then dinner so we could have ONLY got sick at the hotel). We would have just been happy with a simple apology and removal of the dinner charge, but we were left feeling shamed, embarrassed and very sick. Upon returning home I decided I should email the manager to follow up, and since still NO reply. This is truly poor service. The location is beautiful but management ruined our stay. Very disappointed.

My wife and me like Koh Tao and in the last seven years we have always spent a couple of weeks or more in this island, experiencing several resorts. This year we booked at Churm Churee. We'd already been here 2 years ago.
Churm Churee resort is located just 15 min walking from Mae Haad pier. It is located on a jungle hill. Bungalows and villas are built in wood, with a traditional thai style. So, forget a kind of luxury resort. Churm is not luxury but the environment is beautiful and the private beach, Jansom bay, is amazing. Maybe you can find some tokai gekko in the room, but that's Thailand, doesn't matter.
I've spoken about good side of Churm, so far. Now the bad sides. Bad sides belongs to the service level. We noticed that, the service level quality has decreased since the last time we were here. Just some examples.
We respect the environment and we are aware that it is important to save water in Koh Tao. So we didn't ask to change our towels daily. But, also when we asked, following instructions (putting dirty towels on the floor) they didn't change and I had to go to the reception asking for it. The same for the beach towels. In comparable kind of resorts, roomkeeper passes in the evening changing beach towels every day.
The breakfast room (Starlight) has an amazing view but the quality of the breakfast is not at the level of a 100 USD per day or more resort. Breakfast room's kept dirty, with pieces of food on the floor and on the tables, maybe because of lack of personnel. For this reason, althought already included in the rate, sometimes we used to have breakfast outside.
And, unfortunately, this year we also had a direct bad experience with laundry service. They returned one item less than I sent and I am sure they lost a tshirt. When I told to the reception, I had the bad sensation they were saying or thinking I was a liar. They put a "fake" receipt on my bill, showing one item less than my signed receipt that showed one item more. Maybe, to avoid the refund, that in any case I would not have requested, they insisted saying they returned me all the items I sent to laundry service. I also asked them to report to the hotel manager but it seemed that at Churm, hotel manager is a ghost. The receptionist told me "the laundry services maid wants to look for the tshirt in your room with u". This is the most unrespectful sentence I have ever heard from an hotel employee. This experience really disappointed me because I have always tried to have a fair approach with locals and I have never complained for stupid reasons (like a gekko in the room). As u can imagine, if u find a fake receipt, it means you can't trust in the fair behaviour of the resort employee. Any host, all around the world, would apologise for a such of event. At Churm Churee they don't care, or they say, without saying directly, "you lost, you have in your room, you are a liar or stupid". It is enough to avoid to come back here in my next trip to Koh Tao.

This hotel is set out in an amazing location of Koh Tao, excellent for snorkelling. My wife and I stayed here from 29/3/16 to 1/4/16. This location and surrounding nature is probably the only thing going for this hotel. Rooms are pretty good but the service, or lack thereof brings this place down.

Our room was near the beach and getting from the room to reception or to the restaurant is a hike with a lot of uphill walking both there and back and this is by no means any exaggeration. It is not recommended for anyone with walking difficulties to stay here. Note that there are many Mosquitos in this area but of course this is nature and only so much can be expected from the hotel in controlling this. However we were originally put into a room tucked away into the extreme corner of the resort which was infested with Mosquitos (within the net!), bugs and ant colonies. We asked for someone to spray these with a repellent but since the fumes were everywhere, the bugs reappeared minutes after (including all over our bed) and the member of staff was overwhelmed with the infestation, we were moved into another room, which was much better. Whilst this was a much better and cleaner room, kept in much better condition, we were disappointed since we asked the guy checking us in to our original room if any other rooms were available and were told no, this was the last one.

Secondly, most of the staff here fail to say hello and make any eye contact. There is an exception of the the guy working in the beach that maintains the snorkelling equipment.

Staff at breakfast seem to look fed up and tired, waiting for guests to leave if you arrive one hour before breakfast closes. There is a cooking stations which serves hot food. Since my wife and I do not eat eggs we asked for some scrambled tofu and were told this is no problem. When we received the plate it was a small portion of stir fried vegetables. When we asked for tofu we were told that there was not tofu. Strangely they have it all over their menus and we also ordered a tofu dish in the nearby Elvis bar for lunch on the same day.

FYI - hotel nearby is Sensi Paradise which provides buggies to transfer people to and from beach to rooms/reception etc and is much cheaper. The rooms look just as good if not better and for much cheaper. It also has a pool. Not a private beach however you can access Charm Churee beach by paying only 200 BHT for a day.

All in all, nice resort for snorkelling, breakfast choice is average. Service is poor . If you wish you to walk into town with less difficulty then make sure you book a room at the top of the resort.

We LOVED this property! The beach is just amazing with the most amazing sea life!
The resort is located on a hill and we travelled with our family... parents included! This is not made for guests who don't like excercise or walking!! You have to be VERY fit and active!
We don't have a problem and loved it, but for the older 60+ and not too fit it is hard to walk from the top of the resort to the beach and back. We had 'unfit' friends that went 2 months after us and they absolutely hated it! (I'm not surprised!)
The breakfast was very basic, but enough variety not to get bored.
The rooms are nice, but rustic - when you choose this property it all about location, location, location!
It is within walking distance from the 'main shopping and restaurant' area.
We hired quadbikes for the full period, but we did walk into 'town' a couple of nights.
I have recommended this hotel to numerous clients (I'm a travel consultant) and had so much positive feedback! Everyone look past the rustic'ness and just love love love the location and the restaurant at night!

Ekaterina, Believe me you do not want to go to this place. Stay at any place on Sairee Beach - all of those are better than Charm Churee. I would say that the only difference is location. Superior is closer to the beach (still very far away). This place is really falling apart. The huts are rotten and the staff not at all friendly. Plus it is far away from anywhere!

Beach beds are free for hotel guests. They charge some reasonable fee for kayak rent. As for masks, I do not know as I always use my own mask.
