We liked the laid back atmosphere of this hotel - it felt like the quietest spot in Sai Ri, which is great - and the Infinity pool overlooking the sea and sunset. The room was nice and spacious with a nice balcony and indeed had a “clear view”! And it’s a great launchpad for activities as the pier, diving centres, long tail boats and restaurants are just 10
min away. So we enjoyed our stay very much. That said a few improvements are needed. Most important is that, while the room was well cleaned and made up daily, the common areas and in particular the walkways were cleaned very sloppily - it is not nice to see beer caps and bottles left around. Second, the rooms don’t have any hooks or bars to hang stuff (ironically they provided hangers but nowhere to hang) so after 2 days it’s a big mess… would suggest at a minimum to install hanger poles in the wardrobes and provide some form of dry rack on the balcony to hang used snorkelling equipment/ swimsuits etc. Finally there is no bar or food service; for breakfast that’s not a big deal as there are plenty of shops around, but with such a nice view getting a juice or a beer by the pool would be great. Overall we recommend the place and would come back, but would really like to see it more professionally run.

Liked:
I stayed in the deluxe family bungalow. I got a good deal so it was great for me alone, very spacious, with a terrace overlooking the pool and the sea far away.
Pleasant infinity pool, but it's a pity that there is a huge tree blocking the sea view. Located in the quiet part of Sairee Beach. About 10-15 minutes walking distance from the pier.
Comfortable bed. Lots of electric sockets near the bed, good for me who always has a lot of devices to charge. Kettle with free coffee. Room are cleaned but you have to claim.

Didn't like:
The manager is nice and helpful but the owner is really unpleasant.
He didn't know that I spoke Thai and that I understood the instructions he was giving to his manager regarding my requests. He has no sense of service at all. Moreover, he never says hello, never picks up a smile, ignores you when you cross his path. The only time he had to address me directly, he had a disdainful and unpleasant tone. For that I wanted to change hotel but finally I stayed because I had a good price and also the hotel was two steps close to my dive center.

They don't provide pool towels. When I asked for one, the owner wanted me to leave a deposit. For a hotel of this category, that's unacceptable.

The sunbeds and seats didn't have mattresses, it wasn't nice and pleasant to use, nothing to do with the photos on Booking.com.

The hotel overlooks a mini cove surrounded by rocks. The water is cloudy and the sea is rocky. I cut myself under the foot by walking on a sharp stone in the water. And if you walk more than 10 meters there are sea urchins. I advise against going without beach shoes.

We loved this place it reminded us of a mini golf course with the pure white waffle walls the Astro turf and the curved trimmed steps. We stayed in room 2 which we think is the best room on the resort , the view was spectacular and just a few steps down to the sea where snorkelling was amazing. Just a short walk around the rocks to a sanded beach, and lots of local shops and restaurants (we recommend in touch) a short walk left out of the resort, food was very tasty and lots of choice . Our room was clean and modern and there’s a big seated basket lie down area outside where you can soak up the amazing views and sunset. We had a water boiler in a room which kept water hot for tea which we found useful. Only negatives were no plugs near to where you can get ready a third bed in our room which we didn’t need made it feel a little cramped but the room is for 3. There is some work going on opposite the hotel which is an extension of Clear view but again this didn’t really affect us and we heard no noise disturbances. It’s advertised as breakfast included but there’s no restaurant so be mindful of that and I think we paid over the odds for a room here but we are happy to pay it for the room we got so no complaints. The manager was polite and took time to ask us daily if all ok with room and we had daily water melon given to us, all staff were pleasant and polite.

This was a terrible pick. We chose it based on booking.com reviews and regretted it as soon as we arrived. The “resort” is completely run down, falling apart, rotten structures, infested with roaches and ants. The manager convinced us to stay one night of our 5 and promised to resolve the situation but it was a joke.
Our room doors wouldn’t secure or close, the balcony was rotten and unsafe to use, room covered in bugs, I was bitten by a roach during the night.
No sound proofing, loud music all night, no front desk service.
Beds are ancient, probably never been changed. Everything in the room was broken, torn, stained, and had a layer of filth.
The view and location are gorgeous, for sure, but it’s also not beachfront and you can’t swim there.
We stayed the one night and the manager refused to reimburse us until we contacted booking, even then only 3/5 nights refunded. He tried to convince my partner to take his cell phone in exchange for reimbursing the room. It was totally bizarre.

Other guests had rented scooters and returned them dissatisfied. He was keeping passports as leverage.

Avoid this place if you can. The photos don’t do it justice and I’m certain any positive reviews were paid for.
We lost half a day of our vacation dealing with this. Of the 8 stays in Thailand this was the worst.

Clear View Resort was a great choice and experience for us. Locate right by the ocean with an awesome infinity pool. Our room was very spacious with nice A/C. The service was very friendly and attentive. We rented a motorbike from them at a reasonable price of 200 Baht per day. We enjoyed our evenings on the balcony with a great view of the sunsets. It is located in a quiet area of the island, which makes it a great place for families. If you want to join the more active area, it is only about a 10 to 15 minutes walk or a short ride. When we return to Koh Tao, we will stay at Clear View Resort again.

The location and view are good but it isnt clean, we did have cockroaches in the room. The room is very small and most of all the service is really poor. From start it was very clear not to ask to much to the receptionist. Even asking for towels was very difficult for her, at the end she only gave two while we where with four, the reason given was that others dont return them. After the stay they returned us to the pier and the driver even didn't leave the car to help put the lukkage in the car. Overall not sattisfied for the money spent, worsed stay in Thailand.

I arrived very early having had very little sleep on the sleeper ferry and fell asleep on the sunbeds! The owner was the kindest gent ever and made up a room straight away so I could sleep! The staff are the nicest people, beautiful location, great pool and right on the beach. I was only meant to stay for 1 night but ended up staying for 3!

We stayed at the Clear View Resort for two nights in February but wished we had stayed longer. As more mature travellers we weren't sure if we would like Koh Tao but we loved it. We stayed in the beach front bungalow (no.2) and the views were stunning. The small terrace was great to sit with a glass of wine and watch the sun set and the position of the hotel is perfect between the two main beach areas. Easy to walk to the beach and night life, but just far away not to be bothered by any noise. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding and bed looked new. The room had everything we needed including air conditioning, warm shower and a large fridge to stock up with beer. The manager and staff couldn't have been more helpful, there was open access to bottled water and soft drinks and when I asked for a hair drier within an hour a brand new one arrived in its box outside the door. Clear view resort although not a 5 star resort (all the better for it in our opinion) was perfect for a short stay, great value for money and we loved it. We can’t wait to go again.

Let me first say this isn't a bad hotel, it's just could do with some improvements. Let me get the main things I did not like out the way first. There are alot of steps (so if you've got mobility issues it's a no go). The huts are secured by a padlock and very old bolts (one hard kick and someone's in). The wifi barely works, the beach is slightly dirty, the bathroom is as basic as can be.

What I liked was the way it was layed out was lovely with all the steps adding some character to the place. The huts were clean and the bed was very comfy. The owner was friendly to us and helped whenever we had an issue. The pool is amazing as are the views.

If you're expecting luxury you'll be disappointed, but the product does work and has a little charm despite needing a little touch up here and there.
