We stayed 1 night at the hotel to break up our trip from Chiang Mai to Loei. The hotel is less than a 5 minute walk from the bus terminal, and though the area surrounding the hotel is not that nice don't let it fool you, the hotel inside is excellent!!! The minute we walked into our large clean room we knew we had made the right decision to stay at this hotel. We had the best night's sleep since being in South-East Asia, and we even had breakfast in the morning (It's nothing flash but the lady will make you fresh eggs on toast, I would just recommend heading down early as when we were there, we were one of few people staying at the hotel). Though English is not widely spoken we still managed to find somewhere to eat and book our bus tickets to Loei. The pillows and sheets on the bed felt brand new and after spending 8 hours on a train the shower was amazing!!

Stayed here while passing through. The hotel is really close to the bus station, within 2 minute walk.
Rooms are really big and clean. Bathroom had a hot shower.
The staff were really friendly and did their best to accommodate us.
The breakfast wasn't too good, not much choice.
Overall good hotel!

I stayed here in transit from Nan (in the north) to Bangkok, as I read the reviews saying how close it was to the bus station. Only problem is that it's close to the old bus station (2 km from the city), not the NEW bus station (a further 8km out) which is where my bus arrived, and my subsequent one departed. Transit from the new bus station to this hotel (and back), plus transit to and from the city centre (note that in Phitsunalok taxis are rather expensive by Thai standards) made my otherwise ridiculously good value room (booked for $16 usd on Agora) not such great value anymore.

IF you are transiting through the OLD bus station, then this remains a great option. To be honest, you aren't missing much (actually you aren't missing anything) if you never go into the city.

My room was very nice, much nicer than what I could normally get for that price.

We stayed one night in poonsok resident.
The hotel is not in the centre of the city, but it is 5/8 minutes by foot (1 minute by taxi) to the bus station where you can get on the bus to sukhothai or to ayutthaya (bangkok). So if you need a good place to stay in order to reach in an easy way the bus station, the hotel is well located.
From the train station you need to take a tuk tuk (or taxi), the hotel is far about 5/10 minutes by tuk tuk from the train station (depends on the traffic jam).
If you want to visit the city is not the best solution in terms of location.
No resaturant near the hotel.

The hotel's service is H24 (we arrived at 3 a.m.).
The room is clean, confortable and big. The bathroom is good with a good shower.
Good price value.
You need to leave a cash deposit for the key (250 bath).

The only thing no good is the breakfast, very poor and frankly speaking no good.

We stayed there one night and we paid 800B for the night. The idea was to be close to the bus station to leave early the day after.

The hotel doesn't have the charm of a guesthouse. It's a normal hotel with long halls and modern rooms. However, they are very nice, comfortable, clean.
Airconditioning, wifi, ...
A nice breakfast is included (eggs, bread, coffee, rice, ...)

The hotel is not close to the night market (5 or 6 kilometers), you'll have to take a taxi.

We stayed 1 night, booked a standard deluxe room via Agoda.com for 800bt including breakfast. Not the most idyllic location but very practical for bus transportation because Phitsanulok's central bus station is only an easy 150m walk away (so, no need for a tuktuk). Poonsook is a new 4-storey hotel, a little bit dull, but clean and perfectly recommended as a transit hotel if you travel by bus to/from Phitsanulok. 1 elevator. Most of the travellers are Thai people.

Our room on the 3th floor was medium large (6,3x3,9m=26m², including bathroom), was clean, and quiet at night. Tiled floor. Good bed but too thick pillow. Good and silent airco, flatscreen TV. Bathroom rather small however adequate and clean. Small balcony but useless due to the heat. Complimentary : Wifi, coffee/tea, mini fridge.

No swimming pool no garden-area.

Buffet breakfast was good enough, though not really extensive. But keep in mind : only 800bt for a room.

Conclussion : perfect and clean hotel if you are in transit for 1 night, nothing to complain about, but also nothing to remember. Not for a leisurly layback vacation ... then there are better options (but more expensive) in Phitsanulok.

The room is adequate, though old and quite tatty especially the bathroom. The one who said it's 2 years ago is dreaming. The building must be at least 20 years old. Cleaning is not properly done and there is an accumulation of dust and hair on the floor. Breakfast is normal Thai hotel style; which means hardly edible. Location is lousy unless you're using the old bus station, though the neighborhood is filthy with garbage and drain water all along the streets and lanes. I was unlucky to have a room with a huge aircon on the balcony used for the breakfast room. It starts at 6.30 am every morning with a big bang, waking you up with a shock jolt, and the noise stays until 10 am when breakfast time is over. There is a boy receptionist who is extremely friendly, helpful and kind. He calls each guest by name and makes the day for them. The transgender staff is also nice and always willing to help. However, the personnel alone does not a great hotel make. No reason for a repeat stay here, though I will miss the staff.

Stayed for 2 days and we liked the place - good sized rooms and clean premises. Good location and friendly staff. Wifi is good and the price is great value. Breakfast is good but not the greatest selection of options.
