I have stayed here for 1 night and it was surprised during trip to stay overnight here - as it was fresh hotel - nice room, reception..

Hotel is near to river and opposite side is night market, where is very cheap prices as city is not such tourism place, so mostly Thai person are there and could see more natural lifestyle.

+ rooms - clean and fresh
+ hotel is near to center, but not to close to hear all nightlife
+ breakfast - on nice terrace and good choice of food
+ w-fi in reception for free

After a road incident turned our four hour road trip into a ten hour road trip, my wife and I arrived at the Grand Riverside well after midnight. We were treated with great service by the desk staffer, and all was in order. The room was large, clean, with a great shower (excellent water pressure, a rarity in Thailand) and pristine linens. Our view of the river was nice. We slept great, something I did not expect after our day. We received good food and excellent service the next day too.

The Grand Riverside is owned and run by the same team that does the Pattara hotel and one other top ten hotel in Phitsanulok, and given the price, it competes favorably with our experiences at those other two on a value basis. I would recommend this place for business, families, and couples...it is close to everything, easy to reach, and quiet when you do. The team was great, and rescued our trip! Thanks!

The Thai wife and I stayed here for a night last week. We were driving back to Nan from Bangkok and as we didn't know how far we would get because of the heavy traffic we hadn't booked anywhere. Once we settled on Phitsanulok we used TA to select this hotel and navigated our way to it. We immediately liked the riverside location and shaded grounds. The fact there was parking immediately in front of the hotel on its grounds was a bonus because we had a lot of goods purchased from Bangkok in our car.

We went inside and after requesting a high floor room on the river side we took a twin bed room at 1,700 baht, included breakfast. There was a slight glitch when they had written the wrong room number on our keycard envelope but that was soon fixed. The room was standard size with a good view of the river and east over Phitsanulok. Everything was clean and worked. The wifi was strong in the room and in fact everywhere in the hotel. There were many Thai language television channels. The only English language channel I found was National Geographic. Plenty of strong hot water in the shower and good aircon.

There are several interesting restaurants and at least one coffee shop on the grounds. And a 7 Eleven also very close. We slept well, it is a quiet location. Upon waking we make coffee in the room and later went down for a good breakfast. This is one of the better breakfasts for an upcountry Thai orientated hotel. Lots of hot and cold selections, savory and sweet. And a live egg cooking station. Unlike many Thai style upcountry hotels, there was actually several keen servers in attendance.

While we like exploring different hotels we'll likely stay here again on our return driving trips from Bangkok.

We booked two twin rooms which might due to some system error, it didn’t show up at the hotel. So we were put in the double rooms without any proper notice and the hotel had no extra rooms with twin beds left upon our request. We then asked for extra blanket which the hotel said they had not even a single blanket left. It came as a big surprise and can’t believe with this size of the hotel that they don’t have any blanket available to serve the customers upon request. The only excuse they kept saying was the hotel is fully booked! The hotel showed no service mind and careless to the customers’request. Extremely unimpressed.

Apart from poor service, the room looked very dark and had low ceiling. So if you hate to live in a narrowing space, pls don’t book it here.

Great location by the river for temples and many local shops and restaurants.

Night market only 5 minutes walk away.

Good breakfast buffet offering Thai and weren’t meals.

We had a standard double bed room with plenty of space and working air con.

Plenty of free parking.

As part of a tour of Thailand, our group stayed for one night at the Grand Riverside. We enjoyed an excellent dinner in the hotel (set menu but not buffet) and breakfast the following morning. Rooms were very nice and well appointed and many had a great view of Phitsanulok and the river. The main market and night Bazaar were a short walk across the bridge into the centre of town. The perfect location!
We were fortunate to to here on the day of the Water Festival where floating floral krathongs with lit candles and incense were released into the river as it turned dark as well as paper lanterns (paper hot air balloons) were sent skyward. The night market was ablaze with lights, live music and lots of food and crafts. To be here for such a wonderful festival with a very comfortable hotel so close by made for an outstanding visit. We highly recommend this property on your next stay to Phitsanulok.

My partner was actually the one who found this hotel. My impression was a more like a business -kind- of- people - hotel. I only saw asian people that were certainly not tourist and what it bothered me was the way they were staring at us, I reckon because we were not wearing fancy dresses or expensive suits like them but instead, an ordinary summer dress and a pair of short with a white T- shirt. The hotel looks pretty fancy. Our room was good, clean, and big, own bathroom, AirCon, Tv, it was indeed a pleasant night.

Unfortunately, i was not happy with the meals, breakfast was mainly for asian people, not yogurt not cereal, not orange juice, not milk, only rice, eggs of all kinds, noodles, asian soups, so my partner didnt do that bad for breakfast, he can eat any of that but i needed my cereal and yogurt
for breakky. well, there was fruit but fruit wasnt gonna be enough for me.

the other thing, we needed to get our dirty laundry done so i asked in the reception if they had this service and they said yes, so i came back with all our clothes, and the guy said so what clothes do you want washed? and I said, what is in this two bags, and he goes, ok it will be 90Baths per piece!!!
I said how come you are charging me per piece?! I can easily have 30 pieces in there!
he said they only do Suits, business shirts or women dresses!!!
What the hell!!!?
I took my dirty laundry and said no thank you.
that was outrageous!!!

This is a modern hotel which is situated next to the river. The staff was professional, friendly and efficient and ensured that checking in was a very smooth process. The room was very comfortable and clean and the bathroom met all expectations. Breakfast provided an adequate start to the day. I will stay here again if the opportunity arises.

The Grand Riverside may just be the nicest hotel I've stayed in during my visits to Thailand. It has the feel and decor of a 5 star hotel, with the lovely crystal chandeliers, marble staircases, and lovely outdoor dining. The rooms were very comfortable, with good air-conditioning, very comfortable beds, and all the modern conveniences such as an LCD TV, in-room safe, wi-fi, and modern bathrooms. The view from my room was lovely, looking out over the Nan River and across the city of Phitsanulok.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, once they got over being somewhat intimidated by my fast English. Phitsanulok is a bit off the beaten path for the English-speaking tourist, and I did not help matters by talking far too fast. Once I slowed down, Pong, the staff member with the best English, was able to communicate very well. This same Pong had responded to my emails from Canada prior to my trip, and had helped arrange not only a full day private tour of ancient Sukhothai, complete with car, driver and guide, but had also personally helped arrange a rental car for me for the two days following the Sukhothai Tour.

The complimentary breakfast was simply the best I have ever had in Thailand, with extensive choices of Thai and Western foods, mulitiples choices and fruit and juice, fresh coffee, and all served in a beautiful outdoor patio restaurant surrounded by palm trees and overlooking the Nan River.

This hotel caters mainly to Thai tourists who come to visit Wat Yai and the nationally famous Phra Buddha Chinnerat, but is definitely worth a stay for any western tourist travelling through the area. You will have one of the nicest stays of your time in Thailand, and every western tourist in the area should make a point of visiting Wat Yai themselves. Phitsanulok is also a good base for a visit to the ancient capital city of the Siam Empire, Sukhothai, which was the capital long before Ayutthaya. Sukhothai has some of the most amazing ancient ruins of not only Thailand, but in the world, on par with the Giza Pyramids, Stonehenge, Chitza Nitza and the like. Not to be missed.

If I was ever back in the Phitsanulok area for any reason, this would be the hotel I would definitely stay in again.
