Rooms are small with updates needed but rest of the hotel and /staff are wonderful. Viewing areas surround the lodge and nights are lit up to enjoy the animals at night as well. The main water hole viewing area was always busy with wildlife. Even the bird feeders are filled in the afternoons for the bridge viewing area. Birders will... More

Balconies on all levels to go out and see the animals in the floodlit watering hole and salt lick. The blind on ground level, got us up close and personal. The food was truly so-so. They did ring alarms in the night incase of animals coming to the watering hole. I enjoyed the bird watching and everything. We managed to... More

Overlooking a water hole, expect all the local animals to visit. We were not lucky enough to see leopard or rhino, but a lot of other game. You can practically keep watch for the entire duration that you are there. If you do retire to your room, you have the option to turn on the buzzer which will alert you... More

First of all, I love this place! The concept is awesome and if you've done the traditional safari before and are only in Kenya for a short time, it's perfect. Or if you live in Kenya and need a different kind of getaway. Now, to the improvements: Many people don't respect the "please be quiet" signs. Mainly people with children... More

I stayed one night with family. As we have our own transport, we had the option of riving ourselves but chose to go on the bus as there is a charge for entering the park with your own vehicle, plus we wanted the whole experience. After lunch at Aberdare Country Club, we boarded the bus at 2.30pm. We shared the... More

We stayed here for only one night and were very lucky to see a herd of elephants (including a very attentive bull) who stayed around the floodlit waterhole for a number of hours. As well as viewing balconies on several floors of the Ark, on the ground floor there is a hide where you can get really close and hear... More

Unique and comfortable room. Built like an ark which each deck having it's own viewing area of the water hole. Unfortunately the night we were there nothing came by during the night so had a good night's sleep but had seen some animals earlier at the watering hole. Dinner and breakfast was buffet style but very nice as long as... More

This was the 1st place we stayed over at the start of our Kenya trip. The Ark is located within Aberdare National park and was a superb place to stay over. The hotel has various decks and places from where you can have regular views of animals coming down to the Water hole like elephants, deers, warthogs, etc. They have... More

We spend a night a The Ark and enjoyed watching the groups of animals wander up to enjoy the watering hole. As new animals are seen they sound an alarm to let you know what type of animal (even in the night) and you can get up and go see them and even take pictures Although the accommodation are a...
