A great camp with wildlife all around and it feels so legit. There was even an elephant in camp! The food was good, staff was nice, and the experience was amazing getting to the lodge. It is right on a beautiful river with monkeys and hippos and elephants and giraffes very near. I would come here again if I did... More

Galdessa is a peaceful unique camp; eco-friendly; with a wonderful host: Sylvia, great staff and sumptuous meals. it is one of the most amazing camps I have ever been to at the Tsavo Park. There are no fences so wildlife stroll around ...you can see an elephant or two walking outsled your tent and it is normal. The tents face... More

Galdessa is located on the banks of the Galdessa river and quickly accessed from the Mombassa highway. Entry is at Manyani gate. Compared to the dry landscape of Tsavo East, Galdessa is leafy and green and a wonderful retreat. It is a small lodge with no fences. You need to be escorted between your tent and the main reception/restaurant/lounge. We... More

I was OK with my stay at Galdessa Camp but I didn't love it. I had room #1 and it was so HOT I really thought I would go crazy. There are thick bushes just outside so that room gets no breeze AT ALL! They do need to change that. There is also a dead palm tree right out front... More

Galdessa Camp sits right on the Galana river, and the views from the camp are simply breathtaking. We stayed on the private side and the staff we interacted with were truly lovely--Peter in the dining area could work wonders for us and was also really nice to talk to and learn about Kenya. The beautiful sundowner in the most gorgeous... More

We stayed here for five days. The camp was very nice and we stayed in a big bungalow for the whole family. The staff was very friendly and took good care of us. We had a very good driver for the safaris. Food was ok, but not many options after five days. Fantastic view over the river with hippos and... More

Absolutely outstanding place. We only stayed only 1 night which was a shame as we didn't get to enjoy the beauty of this camp. It was the most peaceful place I have ever visited and would recommend to everyone. Our highlight was the river walk full of crocodiles and hippos. Service was excellent. Would love to return

Located in Tsavo East, Galdessa sits on the banks of the Galana River. A lovely spot, the tents are large and nicely done. The typical bucket shower is a great way to wash off the travel dust- the dining room areas are superb. The staff is attentive and the food is 5 Star. This is a "fences down" camp, so... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located along the Galana river, in wildest and most secluded location of Tsavo East National park, this stunning camp's main focus is on relaxation and letting the wildlife come to you right in front of your tent. Galdessa sits beneath giant doum palms, 15 kilometres upstream from Lugard's Falls, with its elegant thatch-and-canvas tents, overlooking the meandering waters of the Galana River, Galdessa offers the ultimate 'bush style' safari experience. Game drives in open vehicles, walking safaris along the Galana River and sand rivers. Sundowners, bush breakfast. The camp's direct area is a home to over 51 black rhino. Tsavo East National Park is a Wilderness area and the game can be shy but it offers great bio-diversity. Uncommon species seen there include lesser kudu, gerenuk, fringed eared oryx, hirola and Peter's gazelle. The area is renowned for elephants particularly during the dry season. Tsavo a bird watcher paradise being particularly rich in birdlife. SUGGESTED STAY TO REALLY APPRECIATE WHAT WE CAN OFFER 3 NIGHTS. ... more   less
