Lions bluff is a beautiful place, recently refurbished (google images might show it before refurb) .
The setting is gorgeous, high up with limitless views.
The interior design is just gorgeous and high quality, every detail considered. Great touches like yoga mats in the rooms (even if you don’t do yoga you will want to try in your balcony with those views) Outdoor and indoor showers for each little villa.
Food is fab, chef is a particularly good baker so the fresh bread is a must. 2/3 choices per meal which reflects the fresh produce they use
Staff were all lovely, polite and did their utter best. We did experience a couple of hiccough in service but not for wont of trying or politeness.
It seemed a little quiet in terms of safari (we had just left z the Mars and amboseli so possibly difficult to compare That said, you will see most of the animals you could want and lions rock will pretty much guarantee you will see lions. You might be lucky and get stuck in “traffic” while baby lions stroll dish the road
Gift shop slightly rubbish but manager is restocking
Basically STAY HERE

After a hot journey we were met with scented towels and a warm reception from the manager and her staff who carried our heavy baggage to our stunning room with veranda overlooking the Tsavo plains towards the Taita Hills and Kilimanjaro. The room was beautifully appointed with all modern conveniences including WIFI , a free bar, an outside al fresco shower and a comfy double bed under a mosquito net.
The food was exceptional and beautifully presented by a chef who obviously took pride in his craft. We also enjoyed an evening game drive with our own guide.
Our final thanks to your manager who very discreetly didn't reveal until our departure that we had somehow arrived a day earlier than expected and without us knowing organised our accommodation as if we had arrived on the correct day !
For people like ourselves, of which there must be many , who want a relaxed drive down to the coast from Nairobi , Lions Bluff is an ideal stop over for one night rather than the min requirement for a two night stay which becomes rather expensive.

I recently visited Lions Bluff with some friends. We took the SGR (train) from Nairobi to Voi, which was a safari in itself.
Lions Bluff has an absolutely stunning location on top of a ridge, in the middle of the Lumo Conservancy, with sweeping views of the plains and the green hills of Africa beyond. The stylish architecture of the rooms, with their thatched roofs, glass walls and extensive private verandahs built on stilts, blends so well with nature; where else in the world can you lie in your four poster bed with nothing but air between you and Mount Kilimanjaro on the horizon. There is incredible attention to detail in the rooms, yet they have an understated elegance too. The infinity pool and the open dining area are lovely, but what would all this be without the attentive staff under the capable management of Michaela; what a great team, they made us feel so welcome.
The game drives (both day and night ones) with Christopher were fantastic. He is so knowledgeable and I managed to get great photographs of birds including bateleur eagles and kori bustards doing their respective courtship displays. The variety of landscapes within the Lumo Conservancy was a surprise especially the riverine forests with elephant and huge herds of buffalo. There are large numbers of kongoni too as well as other plains game including eland, impala and zebra. We did see some lions with cubs. Our picnic breakfast was delicious as was all in fact all the food we were served. A special thank you to the chef for making such delicious gluten free bread.
Not everyone wants to spend all their time out on game drives and the great thing at Lions Bluff is that there are now spa treatments available, and yes we did indulge in foot reflexology, body scrub and head and shoulder massages, which were done in the privacy of our own rooms and were all fantastic. We loved the infinity pool which was perfect for cooling off in and the comfortable day beds were perfect for relaxing on and enjoying the sweeping views of this African paradise. We all love African sunrises and sunsets; at Lions Bluff we found we were at the perfect location to capture both.

Jonina at Sunworld Safaris organized a most memorable 3 week safari in Kenya which we thoroughly enjoyed. She orchestrated a safari that included multiple nights at six different camps that spanned nearly every corner of Kenya. We owe her much gratitude and thanks for putting together this “trip of a lifetime”, a trip we will never forget!
Following a two night stay at Hemingway’s in Nairobi which was the perfect place to get over our jet lag and to enjoy a relaxing two days before embarking on our safari, we arrived at Lions Bluff Lodge in the Lumo Conservancy in southeast Kenya after an hour plus flight in a small plane enjoying the beautiful hills and plains along the way. There were Zebras adjacent to the landing strip when we arrived! Of course I was snapping photos like crazy, not knowing that countless Zebras and other wildlife awaited us literally every day of our safari!
The lodge at Lions Bluff was beautiful, inside and out, with a view of the vast Kenyan plain and the Taita Hills right off our balcony. The room attendants were very attentive to our requests and made our stay there so very comfortable .... even to the luxury of having padded hot water bottles to warm our beds in the evening. The food at Lions Bluff was copious and delicious and was served in beautiful settings, often, outdoors under the stars. It goes without saying that the unlimited drinks added to the ambiance and camaraderie we experienced with guests and staff alike.
Our driver at Lions Bluff, Bernard, was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and was able to pinpoint strategic spots to position our vehicle in order to maximize our photo opportunities. Toward the end of a game drive on our first day, Bernard spotted a lion on a bluff (Lions Bluff!), which I took many pictures of, not knowing that many more Lions and other game or the Big 5 and more would be seen literally everyday!
We will never forget all the experiences we had and we have literally thousands of photographs and videos to revisit and remind us of what a wonderful experience we had.
If you are planning or contemplating a trip to Kenya you must be sure to include a stay at Lions Bluff for an experience you will never forget!

I would rate this property 7 stars easily! My wife & I had the most phenomenal experience at Lions bluff & it was consistent from start to finish. We arrived from Nairobi via the SGR train up to Voi station, where our guide Bernard promptly awaited us outside the station. He warmly welcomed us & presented us with our Lions Bluff branded, eco friendly , non plastic water bottles that we could refill/reuse whenever required from the water station equipped in the car, what a great start. The journey to the lodge was very insightful, thanks to Bernard & his vast knowledge of the area & animals, as we enjoyed the beautiful views all around us. As we arrived at the Lodge, we were spoilt with a very warm welcome from the friendly staff, namely Mercy & the lovely manager Michela. After we were briefed, we were taken on a tour of the main area of the lodge & it was jaw dropping. The lodge is located on a hill & the 360 panoramic views are stunning! After this we were taken to our rooms which left us even more stunned. The design choices, eco friendly concept, no plastic, buckets in place so no water from the shower is wasted & is re-used to water plants etc, the space around the room , views from above, the list can go on & on. We cannot put in words how impressed we are with this lodge & its commitment to the environment. I would call these Chalets with glass all around so there is no compromise on the view . Spacious with two showers, one inside & an outdoor shower where you can enjoy the views while you shower. Plenty of storage space with is a dedicated area, its like a walk in wardrobe almost .
Being Vegetarian, we thought it would be a challenge with food choices at first, but we were proven wrong, hats off to the Chef who kept us well fed & we enjoyed every dish we had. The table service was perfect too with genuine & selfless care from all the staff , especially, Duncan. The property, is well maintained at all times in terms of cleanliness & in general. We loved the stunning infinity pool with the amazing views. I actually learnt how to float on my back finally, which in itself is a memory that I’m sure I won’t stop hearing about. While my wife & our friends battled to hold me up so I could finally float, it looked like they were carrying out some sort of sacrifice to the gods , it may have worked since the dry land was blessed with abundant rain the day after :-)
We thoroughly enjoyed the game drives which gave us every opportunity to spot wildlife. Being a Photographer, I had a very productive time, capturing great moments , thanks to our guide Bernard for his knowledge & taking us to the right place at the right time.
Our evenings were full of laughter & not to forget, Ukulele lessons from Michela!
The best lodge we have visited ever & the best company to book with. Thank you for an unforgettable experience, Sunworld Safaris, Staff, Management & Lions Bluff Lodge. We will visit again soon.

This was our second stay at Lion's Bluff, but our first stay since it's been operated under the new management of Sunworld Safaris. The change of management is the best that could have happened to this camp. Four years ago we saw a camp with infinite potential, but poor execution. Now, we came back to a magical place, exceeding all expectations and bearing hardly any resemblance with the former camp.

The camp
The camp is built inside a hill and gives you a view that cannot possibly be described with words. The new luxurious houses take the traditional bandas to a whole new level with a large glass front that makes the most of the stunning view. Decorations and amenities leave no desires.
Another new highlight is the infinity pool, which - obviously - also looks over the gorgeous landscape.

The Conservancy
LUMO Conservancy is a gem that should get more recognition. The red dust and the infinity of the landscape make for unique photo opportunities. We also saw plenty of wildlife. During a night game drive we even saw the absolute rarity, the black serval cat.
Our game drives would have been fantastic regardless. We were lucky enough to have Christopher as our guide who made each game drive incredibly interesting with his vast knowledge.

Service and food
Service and food are fabulous.

Additional info about transport
If you are deterred from going due to the long drive and few flying options, don't be. We were initially hesitant, but going by train from Nairobi was a very easy and comfortable means of transportation at a low price.

We cannot wait to go back!

We, a group of nine including children and adults have stayed for 3 amazing nights at this wonderful lodge.
It has been completely refurbished just a couple of months ago and put under new management. The rooms are very tastefully decorated in a modern african-european style. The views from the rooms and the terrace are endless…. The pool area is very nice with a large infinity pool and daybeds facing the wild. The dining area has a great terrace with a beautiful view of the sunset. It also has a nice living area with an open fireplace which we used every evening to sit around, have drinks and play games.
We saw a lot of game on our safari trips including the lions of Lions rock.
Staff was very friendly and the food was just delicious and included a variety from buffet to served dinner as well as an barbecue evening.
We loved our stay and will most certainly be back one day.

My husband and I spent a night at the Lions Bluff camp site. The campsite is well equipped with showers and toilets and a seating area overseeing the beautiful Tscai landscape.
We did however enjoy a couple of meals restaurant at the lodge. The newly refurbished lodge is very well decorated and the staff were helpful.

The lovely owner was also around, welcoming guests and answering all of our questions!

We will definitely return.

We moved to Kenya two years ago and have been on dozens of safaris.
This was the most luxurious, fantastic and relaxing experience we have had, to date.
Our guide, Harry, was exceptionally knowledgeable on all flora and fauna and knew where to be to compose the most epic photos and videos. It was almost as if the wildlife was posing for him! The entire staff was superbly attentive without being overbearing or pushy. The grounds were stunning and meticulously kept. Each room was exquisitely appointed with exceptional attention to detail, design and technology. Everything was functional and exactly where you would expect it to be. Wifi was uninterupted throughout — no matter where we walked on the property; in our room or throughout the lodge. The entire lodge including walkways and rooms were well lift, functionally and fashionably throughout. Safari vehicles had working power, and a refrigerator! The manager, Michela, was absolutely fantastic as well — she made us feel welcome and well attended to during our stay. It is obvious that a tremendous amount of thought, experience and expertise went into every decision and detail at Lions' Bluff! Only complaint is we had to leave….but we will be back for sure!
