This lodge is in a gorgeous setting with many rooms & balconies facing the waterhole where you can see elephants, buffalo, leopards, etc. The food is good and service is also good. The hotel itself is a bit outdated and full of bugs. I'm not sure how they can eliminate the bugs but they creep into the rooms in large numbers and get into the beds so you often wake up in the night with one crawling up you face or leg. A bit unnerving. I have already asked my safari supplier to find my groups another lodging in Tsavo.

The lodge is inside the park and this is a great advantage.
You go easily on to the Game Drives and don't loose any time.
Around the property you can see always animals, such as Elephants and baboons. The lodge has a special spot for leopards, usually they place a piece of meat and if you are luck the leopard will come to eat at night.
We were lucky on the 2nd night, and we saw 2 leopards fighting over the meat.
The restaurant area is very large and you get to sit and relax and watch wild life.
Pool area is also nice and has a cool viewing point.
Our room had an incredible view as well.
Staff was very friendly.

I think the lodge could improve a few things. The room only had 1 plug to charge the phones, so they could add extension cords.
It was quite hard to charge all phones and camera because of that. Also because electricity was not on during the night.
Hot water was available only a few hours at night.
It would be amazing if they installed sun heaters, as the place has plenty of sun.
Some bulbs were burned in the room, which is also something easy to keep an eye on and fix.
The bathroom was too dark, I think it could be added light.

An amazing get away. Location five star- choose your room with care to avoid noise from public areas.
Game viewing spectacular- staff member “Debora” needs special mention.. quick and attentive..
Waterhole / leopard feeding amazing! Two spectacular eland families viewings near maktau gate , at least 100 strong..
Only disappointed with the short time allowed in rhino sanctuary (4-6pm) and the lack of road signage— apparently over 100 resident black rhino .. did not see even one..

We stayed at this lodge for two nights during our visit to Tsavo East. The park is amazing, the location of the lodge is fabulous (although the maintenance of the building is seriously lagging behind), the staff is friendly however we would NOT recommend you to stay at this lodge because they are feeding the leopard at night in their yard, which in our opinion is a NO GO.
You are going to national park to visit/ search for the animals and this lodge is feeding the animals to just attract the tourist. This attraction does not help the animal, therefor we would strongly recommend to stay at another lodge.

Stayed just one night at Ngulia Lodge, thankfully.
Architecturally, it sticks out like a sore thumb, looking over the park. A 1980s style monolithic carbuncle, totally out of place in this natural environment.
Design aside, it doesn't get better...!
The rooms are claustrophobic and the whole complex is well overdue for refurbishment with tired decor, worn fittings and poorly maintained communal areas.
The food was tasteless, uninspiring and extremely limited in range and the generator powered lighting in the dining area is woefully inadequate.
Guests can barely see what they are choosing and eating.
Overall, a very poor standard and a place I really would not return to.

Not a good lodge to stay at. The views were stunning but the lodge itself was very basic. The bedroom was not clean with rubbish still in bin in bathroom. The buffet served was not great either (and I’m definitely not picky with food) and when we wanted to pay they would only accept cash making it very frustrating as there was no where even close to take out cash (even though they say they accept cards).
We only stayed one night and left.

If its Leopards you want to see then Ngulia is the place to go. The lodge puts out bait to attract them, and usually it works, unfortunately not when we were there, the Leopard never showed however this might have had something to do with the untimely arrival of a Spotted Hyena. However we did see 2 elusive leopards whilst there. Ngulia Lodge is a busy lodge as it is a stop over for those visiting Amboseli, This means its well warn in the nicest possible sense. The Rooms are comfortable, the Food is Good, the staff friendly and the views from the rooms spectacular.

There are two things I will remember about this hotel. Firstly, it did not have hot water at any point during our stay. Given the rates this place charges, I could hardly believe it! But that wasn't the worst thing. The room was full of bugs and the curtain-style mosquito net just meant that you were trapping the bugs in your sleeping area rather than keeping them out. We hardly slept as we were woken every 5 minutes with something buzzing in our ear.

Despite only having 3 or 4 rooms occupied, the hotel prepared a mountain of buffet food, which I though was just about edible but my wife didn't and had 3 bowls of soup for dinner. A focus on quality rather than quantity would have been better.

Safari is an adventure that will be remembered for a lifetime. Agree, there are many nuances and it is very important that at this moment there is a reliable and experienced guide nearby. In this we were very lucky with Simon. In an amazing way, he combines the qualities of erudition, excellent driving, patience and good mood. He felt and predicted our desires. Thanks to his professionalism and NGULIA SAFARI LODGE, our 4-day trip was breathtakingly bright and comfortable, leaving a deep pleasant experience. Thank you, I want to come back to you again and again!

I usually stay in budget places but decided to splurge over christmas. My driver booked this hotel in my behalf and for two nights over christmas for a family of 4 came up to a whopping $700us dollars.. when I got there and checked in i noticed they gave us 2 rooms. 1 would have been enough as our room had 1 double bed and 1 single bed. Anyways I got over that as it was not the hotel's fault but my driver. The hotel and staff are absolutely fantastic. The first night we saw 2 leopards. Eating the meat they left out for them abd chasing each other. It is such a great base for exploring Tsavo west. having visited nearly all the parks in Kenya I can say hands down Tsavo west is my favourite.. the most scenic and so many animal viewing opportunities.. Mzima springs are an absolute delight. The food and facilities at the lodge are amazing! Stagf go above and beyond to help you. Special shout out to Dennis our waiter who took such great care of us. I highly reccomend this place as I feel it gives you a fantastic experience. I would make sure and check though if you are a family of 2 adults and 2 toddlers like us that only 1 room is needed

Hi, the restaurant has a roof over it. Not sure what you mean by ''chiuso''. Or no idea how bad the rain can be to actually get wet underneath it. The restaurant area is pretty big and has a big roof all over it. It would need a lot of rain with wind to get wet over there.
