My wife and I stayed there for two nights while we visited Sandakan. It is an old hotel, but refurbished. The bathroom were clean and well maintained. The bed was firm. The air-con in the room had no issues. For the price we paid, I was surprised it came with a free complimentary breakfast. The only disadvantage of this place is the location. For those without their own transport, the hotel provides shuttle service to the town. But I am not sure the arrangement of how the return trip from the town to the hotel would be.

I’ve stayed for 2 nights sharing room with a friend. A friend introduces us about this hotel. The room is quite spacious with TV & aircond functioning well. The hotel is located not far from town area. At one occasion, when I was going to have a coffee at the Restaurant, I saw the manager was asleep at one of the table. What a shamed! The staff seems like do not care about him sleeping at the restaurant. I wonder why the manager can sleep at an open area where some of the guest can see him openly. I was having dinner at the restaurant that same day and saw this manager at one area also having a dinner and he is so arrogant. I was surprise how unprofessional he is! really disappointed!!! i hope your management will take action about it. why this hotel must be hire manager like this??? UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGER!!!

Good service. Good maintainance. Their staff are friendly. They provide free wifi, free parking and they also provide car wash service nearby. Not far from the city. 5 minutes drive from the hotel to the city (depends on the traffic). Affordable and comfortable stay for all travellers. C:

The first time i arrive in Sandakan it was in complete darkness. It was around 10pm raining heavily & the whole town was facing power problem. (No electricity)
I was quite lost but the light from Sanbay Hotel signpost really attracted our eyes.
It turned out to be a nice hotel, within our budget and very Clean. A bit far from town center but with RM85.00/night & a decent breakfast i would definitely recommend and for sure will come back to stay at this hotel

Stayed at Sanbay for 1 night before, and for 1 night after Kinabatangan excursion. Whilst a little out of town the Superior room on the 2nd floor was clean and comfortable for 3 of us, and the restaurant was fine. All of the staff very helpful, in particular the manager, as reception staff had difficulty with my English, and my Malay is pretty poor. We really enjoyed the Steamboat on Friday night.
