Firstly my apologies for the very late review guys - I have been meaning to write this review but the daily grind of work meant that I kept putting it off. Fuze Ecoteer planned and organised our two week holiday in Malaysia in May this year - 2016. Our group is rather "unique" in the sense that it was made... More

An amazing two weeks spent with amazing people! Definitely would have regretted staying for less, and if I didn't have to return home for work and university I would have stayed a lot longer! Although the amenities are a bit basic (cold showers, wooden house with gaps everywhere for the creepy crawlies to come in - ahh!), I felt very... More

An excellent week spent at Ecoteer and could have easily spent a few months there. Whether it was painting, snorkelling, beach clean ups, Malay dinners or teaching....the whole experience as extremely well organised from the moment I got there until I left. The staff were absolutely fantastic and the accommodation was basic, clean and safe. I thoroughly enjoyed the village.... More

I don't know why I haven't yet written a review for the Fuze Ecoteer Community House Project. I first saw the project in August of 2014. I remember the clear blue waters as I got off the jetty. It was like a swimming pool. I wanted yo jump in immediately. The Ecoteer staff was there to meet me at the... More

Teaching, eco-snorkeling, beach cleans, Malay dinners, kuih sessions, painting, gardening and so much more... Volunteering at this project gives you a total view of island life, while making a small difference. And if you don't make a difference on the island itself, it's you as a person that changes. I don't think I've ever stayed in a village that is... More

My time with Ecoteer Community house was the highlight of my trip to Malaysia. The landscape of the Perhentian Islands is stunning enough to justify any length of visit to the islands. That being said, it was the activities and the friendships enjoyed at the Ecoteer House that made my stay incredibly special. This is not your average tourist stay... More

Pulau Perhentian is so beautiful. I'm bored of just travelling to travel. So I tried Ecoteer for a volunteer vacation. I had a wonderful time snorkeling, swimming, teaching English and conservation in the school, working in the community garden and doing beach cleanups. The Malay dinner in a local home was one of the highlights. I wore a sarong, sat... More

Would recommend this to anyone looking to stay on these beautiful islands. Volunteering here involves helping out at school clubs with the kids, beach clean ups and awareness campaigns and English clubs with the local women. It is truly an incredible experience to work with the local people within their community - they were so kind and welcoming to us... More

If you're keen to get involved with village life, then this is a fantastic volunteer opportunity. You're able to participate in lesson planning, delivering lessons, cooking classes and going to Malay dinners. We volunteered with our two kids and the staff were fantastic at adjusting the program slightly so that we could participate in everything. Don't come for five star,... More

We had a great time at the perhentian islands! And were very sad to leave after two weeks. The people from the island are amazing, so friendly and the children are so engaged in learning from the volunteers. The programme is so diverse from mural painting to snorkel trips, teaching Eco tourism and gardening. As well as educating the village... More

“This is not just a 'tourist hotel stay'. Be prepared as a volunteer to do work. Also consider that rooms are not city hotel standard at all but rather reflecting a Malaysian small island village. These inconveniencies, from the viewpoint of the 'western tourist', are however more than compensated for by the excellent treatment by service-oriented flexible and creative Ecoteer personel, the meeitngs with the knock-out charming school kids, the fabulous island environment and a most exciting marine wildlife.”
