Where do I begin with this place and the people that make it so special.
Desert Merzouga Villa- man, from the time we walked in till we left, there was not a moment where we felt like tourists. Youssef, the owner, the manager, the mastermind, the caretaker, the chef, the story teller behind this beautiful villa is soo generous, so humble and full of positivity that you can't help but pray that he succeeds in his adventures.
He has made this villa into a peaceful sanctuary within the desert for his foreign guests to enjoy some peace and quiet time.
He is so accommodating. And just goes out of his way to ensure his guests are happy and they feel at home. I remember in the afternoon when my tour members were resting, I went downstairs into the dining room and was catching up on some work. Youssef came to check on me. I told him I was a bit hungry. He told me to give him 5 minutes. And he made a nice fresh salad with yogurt. That was the most thoughtful thing he did and I truly enjoyed that avocado tomato salad.
He's put his entire heart (which is quite big) into building this place. If you notice carefully, he's paid attention to minute details from this warm scent you walk into when you enter to split ACs behind decor to names of his family members on each guest room door to the picture of his beloved King of Morocco 😆 (I'm joking about this last one. Youssef, remember, he's always watching you).
In short, I highly recommend this place. Youssef and his family are a few of the most thoughtful people you'll come across. Book Desert Merzouga Villa without hesitation. You will not be disappointed.
Life is good, alhamdulillah. Thank you Youssef.

My husband and I arrived at Desert Villa Merzouga on the day of our camel trek to their Mirage Luxury Camp desert camp. We were warmly greeted by Youssef and Omar, and enjoyed talking with them while we sipped our mint tea and ate our snacks. Their pride in their hotel is evident, and we were really impressed by the beautiful painted-wood ceilings and gorgeous tiled floors. When it was time to leave for our camel trek, Youssef helped my husband and I put our long scarves on our heads, kidding with us about how huge the scarves we had bought were, but fortunately he was still able to find room to expertly wind all the fabric around our heads. We returned the next morning to the hotel by car, and spent the night at their hotel. We honestly felt so comfortable by that time with Youssef and Omar's hospitality, that we wished we had more time in our itinerary to stay another night. We had a wonderful corner room on the second floor, and from our room we could watch other camel riders getting ready for their trek that day. The hotel is practically brand new (Youssef said he had finished it just before having to close down during the pandemic). We are so happy that our guide booked us into Youssef and Omar's hotel, and we will always have warm memories of our time there.

Hubby and I spent the night here after spending an evening at one of the desert camps near the dunes, and it was wonderful. We were able to get into our room early when we returned from the desert, which was nice as we wanted to get settled and get the sand out of our belongings. Youssef was a wonderful host, and offered to store our luggage while we were in the desert and served us mint tea while we were waiting for our guides and our camels.

The property is relatively new and in great shape, and our room had some perks that we hadn't seen yet in Morocco including a TV and blackout shades. Bed was large and comfortable, air conditioning worked wonderfully and we had a great view of the dunes from the small balcony. Bathroom was on the small side but had all the necessary amenities, and shower pressure was great. Room had a small mini fridge and bottled water was provided throughout our stay. Youssef also offered to do our laundry, which was great as we never found public laundromats in Morocco.

Really enjoyed the dinner Youssef and his family prepared for us, which included beef Tagine and stuffed apricots along with a fresh salad and good soup. Also enjoyed mint tea after dinner on the terrace with Youssef, who has some interesting stories about growing up in Morocco and building his hotel after years of work.

We also enjoyed small and quiet Merzouga after sensory overload in Marrakech, nice to walk along the streets and through the shops without getting approached constantly. Did quite a bit of shopping here as it was a more pleasant experience.

Overall a wonderful stay, and would definitely stay here again. Can't get much closer to the dunes, a quick walk into the center of town and a wonderful host.

I would give this hotel seven stars if I could. It’s a beautiful hotel and located only a 5 minute walk to the sand dunes. There are wonderful views of two of the largest dunes in the area from the rooms and the rooftop terrace. The staff are very attentive and make sure you are comfortable at all times. The food is also excellent. The hotel can arrange camel or quad tours of the Sahara or visits with nomadic families. This is the absolute best hotel in Merzouga.

A boutique hotel with hosts that have you feeling like family and have utmost care for their guests. We felt relaxed and at ease staying with Aman and his brother. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. There is also a communal sitting room that is available to chat with other guests or relax and read. The breakfast was delicious and we were not rushed and again felt more like house guests that hotel patrons.

We stayed at the desert villa for (sadly) only one night of our 5 day tour. What an amazing gem - beautiful decor, lovely attention to detail (eg. only place we stayed with a room kettle, very comfortable bed/pillows) and absolutely delicious food for breakfast (the eggs were amazing) and dinner (avocado starter was fab) . Youssef and Omar looked after us so well - thank you. Can't recommend this hotel enough....don't miss out.

Absolutely outstanding! We spent 18 days in Morocco and this was a highlight. Youssef is the most exceptional host - the level of service and hospitality is like nothing I’ve experienced elsewhere. I felt like a Moroccan princess. The guesthouse is stunningly beautiful - with an attention to detail that is rarely seen or experienced. Every detail is like a work of art, yet at the same time Youssef makes it feel as comfortable as your own family home. I wanted to stay forever.

After a full day in the desert, a perfect spot to have tea and rest.
The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The hotel is very new and full of details on the doors, roofs, and everywhere else. We had a very good dinner with a lot of food (firstly we felt uncomfortable, but we were told that all the excessive food would feed families around). The hostess who accompanied us was very nice and told us the history of the hotel and the family who owns the hotel. Always very careful with all my family. Highly recommended!! Feels like home.

It started with a piping hot cup of mint tea that was served to us as we arrived from a long day of travelling. But that was just the start.

We were welcomed to the Desert Villa by Aamar and his team as if we were long-lost family members.
After a dip in pool, we were supplied with drinks and snacks as we played a heated game of checkers with the team at DV. When they learned that we were studying Arabic, this was followed by impromptu Arabic calligraphy lessons and some very patient instruction in our inchoate Tamazight vocabulary. Aamar even presented us with a customized fountain pen so that we could continue our calligraphy practice with the right tools.

Dinner was a multi-course feast, wherein the dishes were as thoughtful and nuanced as the service. Amongst a group of picky eaters, every plate was sent back empty.

Once we finished our meal, we were escorted upstairs to the rooftop terrace where a telescope had been expertly arranged so that we could drink in the magnificent yellow moon rising over the Erg Chebbi dunes. This transitioned nicely into star gazing in the beautifully warm and dry climate.
Before we headed off the next day, we all received expert lessons in turban wrapping before we hopped onto our dromedaries and began our magical desert trek. Peter O'Toole could not have done it any better!

Moroccan hospitality is world-renowned, but the Desert Villa is one step above. I could not imagine staying anywhere else when in Merzouga.

Beautiful and impeccably clean Riad. The host/owner was fabulous and exceptionally accommodating. He extended every curtesy when our travel plans were interrupted and saved our trip! Our room was lovely and cool and the mattress was very comfortable allowing us to catch up on much overdue sleep.
