Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel Andino is a good choice for those staying in Machu Picchu Pueblo. Once the reservation was made, they reached out to me to offer to meet me at the train station. (Either though it turns out the town is very compact, it was a nice gesture.) Diana met me at the station and led me to the hotel. The room was decent-sized, bathroom had plentiful hot water, and the wifi was free and fast. Breakfast was ample, and they start serving at 5 am, which makes it possible to have breakfast and still get to the Machu Picchu bus if you have an early time slot. Another nice touch was that they have hot water for tea/instant coffee at the lobby and on each landing. My train didn't leave until late in the afternoon, but they let me leave my luggage and then also hang out in the lobby after checking out.

The biggest drawback for the hotel is that it is right next to a local bar that starts blasting music from the afternoon on, and you can hear the "thump-thump-thump" even if you are on an upper floor. I'm not sure if this is standard for hotels in Machu Picchu, but the checkout time of 9 am was pretty early. Also, while I didn not encounter any problems, I thought the system of leaving your key at the front desk (which was often unattended) was not very secure.

The Andino was a welcome respite after a long day of hiking the Inca Trail and exploring Machu Picchu. I was traveling with my son and found the rooms comfortable, but as others have mentioned, they are on the small side. We had a double and if there'd been a 3rd person, we would have been pretty cramped.

The shower is nice, but the water didn't get very hot for us.

The outstanding things about the Andino are the staff and the location. The staff were amazing. Helpful, gracious, and very friendly. They helped us with a number of restaurant locations, helped us find our way to the train station and other spots of note in Aguas Calientes. The Andino is also centrally located to the train station and the bus stops for those traveling to MP and out of AC.

I would recommend the Andino to those looking for an ease of location and don't need a luxury hotel for the night.

It's perfectly pleasant hotel in good location, with very good hot shower.
However the rooms are very small and most don't have any windows, so it's not the best place to spend too much time in....
Breakfast was very basic as well.
If you're staying just for one night it's perfectly fine, but wouldn't stay any longer.

The girl at the front desk was very nice and helpful. We paid for a 3 bed room and got it but was extremely small to fit the beds so there was no room to place and open suitcases. After we unpacked we noticed that the toilet had no water so they gave us the key to another one bed room in another floor so we could use the bathroom. Included breakfast was bad, ugly and cold scrambled eggs, bread but no utter nor jam, etc. The sheets where clean but the covers nasty! With small brown stains that looked like blood, disgusting! Don’t do it, not even for one night.

The hotel was very comfortable! The room was small and cozy! The bed was perfect for just one person and soft! The shower had very good water pressure and lots of hot water!! Breakfast was included and had a good variety! The staff was verey friendly and held my luggage as I hike Machu Picchu. Great place to stay!

A very basic hotel mainly for backpacking. This was our base for our visit on a g adventures classic tour to Machu Picchu. The room was an inner room with no external window, what window we had was a lift shaft. The safe didn’t work in the room and it was very humid / damp. Would book a more enjoyable hotel in this town if you’re visiting the magnificent sights nearby!

Very basic hotel, mostly for backpackers, not for middle aged people. We can hear the noise of next room and the flush of the bathroom. Walls between room are like sheet of paper. Our room was so dull.
When We arrived at our breakfast 8.00 am, no one to assist you and nothing left to eat, no fruits juice left either except for the coffee. However it’s very closed to the railway station. And Joan at the reception was very kind trying his best to help.

I booked this hotel on hotels.com and received a confirmation email. I received no information before my trip to inform me of no availability. I turned up as a solo female in the evening to be told they are overbooked and have no rooms left even though I had a confirmation of my booking. They asked me to share a room with another lady in another hotel. I explained that I don't want to share and have booked my own room. After a big drama they managed to give me a room in the hotel and then I paid cash for it. After I got the key to the room they told another lady to go and share with me. This lady was very intimidated and scared. Eventually they gave her a key to another room. I felt very uncomfortable and was told that I had taken another families room! This is terrible and dangerous. Stay away!

The close proximity of the Andino Hotel to the train station was a draw when researching where to stay, but we still managed to get lost (!) as the directions found online are from the entrance of the train station rather than the exit. This was not a problem, however, as a staff member had no qualms about coming to pick us up and walk us back as it is only a few minutes.
This location is also convenient for surrounding eateries.
The other members of staff were personable and helpful, and were patient with our broken Spanish.
We had a room without windows, but this did not present a problem for just one night.
The room was a comfortable temperature and there was plentiful hot water in the shower. There did not appear to be any ventilation in the bathroom, though.
There was also a strangely placed window fronting the hallway, which I’m unused to as you expect complete privacy in a hotel room and this doesn’t suggest this.
Wanting to leave for Machu Picchu early, we requested breakfast at 5am and this was no problem. I thought we would only be getting a continental breakfast, but I was also pleased to get a lovely omelette. There was also a good range of hot drinks, as well as juice.
The wi-fi worked perfectly and when we were unable to turn on the TV and the toilet didn’t flush properly, these issues were immediately rectified.
Everything was clean and looked new, which made the low cost all the more of a bargain.
Would definitely recommend.

When first arriving, we asked for a room in the back, and could not give it to us. It was a 3 day celebration in Machu Picchu, and there was a full band playing outside our hotel window all day and night. It was extremely loud, and without any warning or consideration, the hotel would do nothing for us. We ended up going to another hotel that was very accommodating. Beds also had hair in them from the people before us. Although it was not their fault to have the band playing outside, warning or compasation should have been made. The noise was so loud we could not hear each other talk.
