We stayed here for one night after having hiked the Inca Trail and would visit Machu Picchu in the morning. Honestly, after hiking in the pouring rain, this place was a Godsend. Our clothes were soaked and we only had one other set to wear the following day - each of us with one pair of shoes that were completely soaked! The room had a fan we could control as well as a space heater and everything we had dried overnight. We were so incredibly happy as we were able to explore Machu Picchu with dry shoes!!!! The front desk staff was very helpful and held our daypacks for us while we went to Machu Picchu. I’m giving this hotel a 4/5 solely because the rooms were ok. Not awful, not amazing (great views of the mountains though if you are up high enough). The hotel was good and did what we needed it to do for one night and to recover after a long day of hiking. I would go back and stay here again for an overnight, but would not do more than two consecutive nights here.

Our guided tour to Machu Picchu had reserved a room for us at Taypikala. We got there and received a warm welcome from the reception staff. For no particular reason and without us requesting they upgraded us to one of the suites, which comes with a large bathroom, two large beds, and a jacuzzi. Unfortunately we were pretty tired and went straight to bed after a nice shower. The room was very nice, clean, and well stocked of all a travel could need. We had to be up at 4:00am the next morning but breakfast was ready. There was a large variety to food available for all tastes and diets. Overall, very impressed. We enjoyed our short stay and definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located at the end of a busy street filled with restaurants and shops. 5 minutes walking distance from the hot springs. The hotel is in reality a three star hotel, in my opinion, the rooms are small with three beds, a tiny bathroom, closet with safe, no AC, osculation fan, mini fridge and a TV. The shower/tub has great pressure and hot water. The next door roos are connected via a vent in the bathroom and can be noisy depending on you är neighbor. Walking distance to everything but still away from all the buzzel. The breakfast was sub par but that is not uncommon on Peru since they are not a big breakfast country it seems. Friendly staff and ability to leave luggage after early checkout. Electric tea kettle, ceramic cups and a variety of tea bags, no coffee. It served our purples to relax for one night after the Inka Tail hike. 10 minutes walk to the train station.

We had a great overnight stay at Taypikala before our hike. The check-in process was very smooth, and the receptionist was friendly. She had been in touch with our tour guide for the next day, and called him to meet us as soon as we got there to give us an overview of the next day.

The rooms were very comfortable with great views. It was great that the complimentary breakfast started very early (5am), so we were able to grab a bite before leaving for the hike. It was a short walk to the Machu Picchu buses. We were able to get a late checkout, so we could store our bags in our rooms before leaving.

Only slight downside is the location. If you are coming with a lot of baggage off of the train, it is a fairly long walk uphill to get to the hotel, but we really didn't have a problem at all. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting.

I have several trips to Peru and Machu Picchu. This hotel is in a great location between the hot springs and the bus station that goes up to the sacred site. It is also next to a beautiful small river that flows into the Urubamba river. Good food, clean quiet rooms. Windows oepn for fresh air. Great beds. I will stay here every time I travel back to the pueblo of Machu Picchu.

The Taypikala Hotel Machupicchu is a very cute hotel located on a small square in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo) at the base of Machu Picchu. It's centrally located to shopping and restaurants and is a short walk to the train and also the bus for going up Machu Picchu. The small dining area on the ground floor offers very nice meals and drinks and the rooms all face the lively square below. The staff is extremely accommodating and the location is perfect for a visit to the town and Machu Picchu itself.

We stayed at Taypikala Machu Picchu for three nights while visiting the sacred site. The hotel is in great location on the creek and between the hot springs and the bus station to go up the mountain. The food was very good. Rooms are very clean and staff is great. An excellent value. I’ll stay there the next time too.

The room looked amazing and had bottled water and dehumidifier, more than I could have wished for. Ideally situated next to the hot springs. It was only when the evening came that a couple of problems started. Hot water had run out already and was also unavailable in the morning plus it was very noisy until late at night because the hotel looked out over a square where people played and hung out. I had to put the TV on to drown out the noise to sleep. It’s probably one of the better hotels you’ll get in the area so I’d come again.

The service at this hotel was excellent. The amenities are nice, but budget quality. Similar to staying in a good motel in the US. It is at the high point of Aguas Calientes, so it requires walking up hill to get to it, which winded me everytime I did it. On the plus side it was quieter and it was closer to the hot springs if you are going to do them. There was also a nice billiards restaurant nearby and a yummy crepe place. It also has an elevator and the view from our room was lovely.

I highly doubt it. Those are amenities higher star rated hotels would offer rarely hotels in this category.

The plugs are the flat 2 prong--same as US. But be aware, Peru has 220w, not 110w as in US. This is usually not an issue with phones, computers since these devices are able to convert the wattage.
