I loved staying at the hotel so much! As soon as we got off our bus we were greeted by very friendly staff and walked less than 100 meters to the hotel. Their food is amazing and staying in this hotel is so relaxing, especially after a day spent in Machu Picchu. Every single one of the staff are so friendly and make sure you are as comfortable and happy as you can be. I especially loved how the hotel was just next to the river and the beautiful rooms they provided. I hope I can go back someday!

This cute boutique hotel is the perfect hub for a visit to Machu Picchu. My husband and I spent 2 nights here and we are so happy we did! I was in awe when walking into our room. The view of the river is magical and the calming, whimsical music playing was a great touch! The room was very clean and stylish and listening to the sounds of the river at night was so relaxing.

The hotel did seem a little short staffed. However, we came during a weird Covid lull and were one of the only people in the hotel… there actually weren’t many tourist around the whole city which was pretty special for us. That being said the staff was super attentive and helpful. The front desk was always attentive to all of our needs and even got us a guide for Machu Picchu last minute! I highly recommend everyone to stay here during their Machu Picchu adventures.

Luis Manuel went over and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. The hotel is conveniently located to the train and bus stations. The room and its amenities were amazing. Whirlpool bathtub (with candles and bath salts included) overlooking the Urubamba River. Other world class hotels in Aguascalientes are overpriced and do not have half the offerings and are not close to the train station.

Excellent location for a visit to machupichu. The room was comfortable with a river view and a made to order breakfast was included. They start serving breakfast at 5 am so you will have time to eat a hot breakfast and still take the bus for an early machupichu entrance.

We took the train from Cusco and walked along the track 5 minutes and were at the front door of the hotel. The friendly staff speaks English and will orient you to the town with a small map. Buy your bus ticket for machupichu in advance. The line for the bus is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel hired an English speaking guide for us and he met with us the evening before our visit just to be sure we had everything we would need. Our guide’s name was Ronald and he was outstanding. He was punctual, had lots of experience and expert knowledge and he was a great photographer who took the time to get great pictures of us enjoying machupichu. The only reason I did not award 5 stars is that the power went out in our room after we finished breakfast on the morning of our departure. My wife ended up charging her phone in the lobby which was fine but I use a cpap machine to sleep and it would have been a big problem if the power had gone out at night.

Nice hotel to stay at, it’s right by the raging river so if you don’t like that noise you may have an issue but I like the white noise because it helps me sleep. I got upgraded to the top suite which is really nice and the staff are very nice as well, I had issues with the hot tub and they came and looked at it right right away. Only issue I had is that you can’t flush toilet paper down the toilet, as a Canadian I’m not use to this and find it kinda disgusting that I have to put it in the bucket but most hotels in this town are like this do don’t let this discourage you from staying at this hotel, the rooms are still great and I would definitely stay here again.

Dear guest: Thank you for the time it took to share your experience. In reality, the contamination of the trains is clearly the responsibility of the railway company, however I comment that it is not usual for them to have this type of inconvenience, their case is totally isolated. I understand that the trains are constantly being renewed to avoid pollution in the Peruvian District with less pollution, which is Machu Picchu Pueblo. Sincerely: Alcides De La Cruz Commercial Manager

I stayed one night at this property before my trip to Machu Picchu. I had an excellent sleep in a big comfy bed, a nice hot shower and a basic but adequate carb heavy breakfast. This is everything I wanted before my trip to MP and my expectations were met.

After I checked out, the hotel kindly stored my luggage during the day and even more surprisingly allowed me access to their spa to shower after getting drenched in the rain on MP, this was a nice surprise considering I had already checked out and was sincerely appreciated.

Why not 5 stars?
There are some minor wear and tear issues in the room, such as toilet roll holder falling off the wall, loose taps etc. Cleaning could have been better as previous guests long black hair was visible on bathroom floor.

We spent a night at Casa Del Sol so we could spend two days exploring Machu Picchu. The accommodations, service, and breakfast were exceptional!

We were there during the wet season (October - March), and made the mistake of opening our riverfront room window to let in some fresh air. Apparently we also let in some mosquitoes. They bit us through the night and left the largest mosquito bite scars on our arms that we've ever had. Don't open your windows!

The town of Machu Picchu Pueblo, or Aguas Calientes, has exceptional restaurants! We had no problems finding delicious foods. The souvenir booths had the same items we saw in Cusco.

The bus which takes you to Machu Picchu, as well as the train station, are both within walking distance from the hotel.

This is actually a review for a trip to Machu Picchu in December 2019, right before the pandemic. The friendliness and dedication of the staff was unparalleled. I stayed at Casa del Sol during a solo trip to Machu Picchu. The hotel was beautiful, the room was incredibly spacious and clean. I had a room with a river view which I highly recommend. The town of Aguas Calientes is small, but the hotel is in a great location and is close to dining options, grocery, and landmarks. Special recognition goes to the manager, Alsencis, who was incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful--he even walked me through the town and helped me purchase tickets to visit Machu Picchu. The entire staff were fantastic and even helped me retrieve personal items that had accidentally fallen from my window onto an awning below (don't ask!!!). I highly recommend Casa del Sol for an incredible stay with service to match.

We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is right along the train track and river, a short walking distance from the bus station (for Machu Picchu). All the high-rated restaurants are within 2-3 minutes walk from the hotel. Since it's right next to the train track, it can be noisy if you're a light sleeper like me; my kid and husband had no issue. Pick room facing to the river, better view and less noise. The hotel has breakfast service but not lunch and dinner. Service is amazing. They went out of their way to make you happy, even though there was communication issue due to language barrier. Book a suite if you can, it's amazingly cute with jacuzzi, river view and fresh flowers.

Casa Del Sol, at the base of Machu Picchu, in Aguas Calientes, was a great place to stay over night. We arrived late by train and left early in the morning. They have a restaurant on site but we did not eat there. The rooms were clean and comfortable with air conditioning. They held our luggage while we went to Machu Picchu as well. The staff is kind and accommodating.

This is located just steps from the train and right over the river.

The breakfast was delicious with fresh juice and eggs and meat to your liking.

NOTE: The water in the shower, toilet and tub are not filtered, so when my son filled up the tub, it was yellow, just like the river, but that is to be expected in the small town.

Casa del Sol is extremely comfortable and accommodating. It's also really, really close to the train station. I would recommend you stay there as long as possible. The spa is great, try to stay an extra day to enjoy it. I don't recommend going back to Cusco right away. This is an expensive, once in a lifetime experience that you really want to enjoy to its fullest. An extra night wandering around Aqua Caliente is a treat!
