I arrived in a raining evening and was welcomed by two nice dogs, barking of course. Don't be afraid, they are friendly. The place is simple and clean, they provide filter water for drinking, this should be mandatory for any guesthouse in countries which doesn't recycle the pet. I had a good sleeping there, but I had just come from...

We spent just one night in this hostel. I booked the balcony room. The staff were really helpful and friendly and the rooms were clean. It's a hostel, not a hotel, so you do need to keep your expectations in check. You can't be any closer to the Dambulla caves unless you lived in them. Do say yes when they...

Simply GREAT! The place has everything a backpacker could desire: simple, clean, cheap. In all the rooms are present mosquito nets and fans. The owner ( Christiane ) is always present and happy to give tips about the daily trip around dabulla. Don't forget to ask for the dinner, the food is tasty and fresh and every day they cook...

Its very cheap accommodation and in this class is it rhe best. Very friendly staff, free hot water, tea of coffee, free water, very close to Dambulla cave temple and quiet location. Also possible to rent a motorbike or eat nice curry and rice.

We stayed 3 night at Oasis. The room was specious and clean, also with free wifi in the room. The owner is very friendly and helpful. And the food is absolutely amazing, it's highly recommended to eat in the guesthouse if you stay there. We would stay here again :)

It's a very friendly place with really nice people. The lady of the house was helpful and answered all our questions about the area. The room was spacious and clean, it had a small kitchen and free tea :) Definitely a good value for the money.

We had a budget room inside. Lot of moskitos. Bad smelling. Also We dont like the dogs inside the hostel, u never know what they carry on them from the streets. . We found a frog in the bathroom. There are much better options around the corner.

We started our first day at this accomondation and the hosts have been really nice and welcoming. It has been the perfect place to start our two weeks in Sri Lanka. They answered every question and had tipps for our further travel. We even half day trip to Sigiryia which is just perfect from Dambulla. The golden temple was just...

location is the best thing about Oasis. you just walk over and cross the street to check out the Rock Temple. also if you're taking public transport, you can just alight at the opposite of the Rock Temple and that's it. you wont be lost. only concern i have aside from the surrounding limited eateries is the amount of mosquitoes...

On our Trip to Trinco we stayed three nights at Dambulla Oasis Welfare Tourist Rest. It was such a pleasure meeting Christiane and Asele. The hostel is a rural place but very cosy and has the best location just in front of this huge golden Buddha. On top you'll enjoy some friendly cats and dogs around you... by thue way:...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This cosy guesthouse is the oldest one in Dambulla. It is an authentic Sri Lankan home - and right opposite the Big Golden Buddha! The Oasis Tourist Welfare Center is under new German-Sri Lankan management and makes everybody feel at home. It consists of the actual guesthouse and 2 additional comfortable rooms in our neighbors' house on the same property. The guesthouse itself has got 4 bright and colorful but basic rooms, all furnished with a fan and a mosquito net and lovely decoration with attention to detail. 3 small budget rooms share one bathroom, 1 spacious room ("Pink Room") is en-suite. Our Oasis is located in a quiet backyard and offers spacious common areas inside as well as outside in the garden for all our guests to relax or gather together and have a chat or a drink. We have a few pets around: a couple of cats, a dog and 2 rabbits at the moment. They also come inside the house, so please inform us if you are allergic. It's also the only place in town that prepares a delicious breakfast of home-made organic yoghurt, fruits and cereals (breakfast is subject to availability). Room rates start as low as LKR 900 for the single room and LKR 1300 for a small double room. The en-suite "Pink Room" costs LKR 2000. All rooms come with fresh linen, sheets, towels and toiletries as well as free tea (self service), drinking water from the water filter and free 16Mbit WiFi. But considering this price, please don't expect a king's palace - the Oasis is a basic 40-year old (!) guesthouse which also means some cracks in the walls, some old paint, a couple of ants running around the place and an occasional frog jumping around in the bathroom. Our neighbors' rooms are a totally different world. Their house is rather new and you will find spacious comfortable rooms and en-suite tiled bathrooms with hot water shower. One room comes with a little balcony and the other one with a kitchenette. Both rooms come without ants and frogs ;-) So if you like to stay with us, just pop in here or call ahead (recommended) for a room. We are looking forward to giving you a great and enjoyable time here in Dambulla. ... more   less
