Our welcome to Sri Lanka could not have been better. We stayed two nights at Burmese rest because it was really relaxing coming home from a busy sightseeing day and from entering the place you feel cool down and good. The rooms are very spacious and clean. You have to share your bathroom but that was not a problem. One...

We didn't manage to get a bed here as the extremely unpleasant and unfriendly head monk / owner told us that there was no room, despite another monk telling us there was space. Not sure what was going on, or whether he just didn't like the look of us, but we ended up having to sort alternative accommodation out instead...

I loved the Burmese Rest! It was a lovely idyll away from busy, noisy Kandy and the tortoises were the highlight. There is no electricity bar the overhead light in the bedroom and no bed sheets, but that's all part of the experience.

We had a nice, spaceful room with two single beds with their own mosquito nets. No wifi and electricty plugs only available in shared area. The shared bathrooms were clean (as long as other guests cooperate) with only cold water. The building has a retro and peaceful feeling to it. The monk and his helper are very friendly and helpful....

This resting place, is part of a monk house and the general atmosphere is quiet and serene. The rooms were spacious and sweep cleaned. Beds were simple, pilgrim style with thin foam slabs but the mosquito nets were very good. The rooms further contained two chairs and a desk. The shared bathrooms were very proper, although cleanliness is also dependent...

What a peaceful place in the middle of busy Kandy. The man who looks after the guest house was great and provided us with ample advice and information. The tortoises in the court yard were a treat. The rooms had wonderfully high ceilings so felt very specious.

My partner and I absolutely loved this place. It's cheap, so the rooms are basic, but the monastery has such a great atmosphere and we were very comfortable. Outside of your room there is a great deck to read on, a common room for meditation/exercise/whatever you feel, and a beautiful sand courthouse which is home to a few lovely tortoises...

If on a tight budget, this place is a good consideration. And if cheap, dont expect ro get all the comfort. We stayed here for one night only. The room for two is large enough, two single beds withmosquito nets, some chairs and a table. Really basic. The sheets didnt smell new/fresh. We shared bathrooms with the rest of the...
