We arrived here for one night by car, the room we were given was clean and comfortable accept smell in the bathroom..the dinner we took in pinnawala hotel just on the opposite side of the street, the breakfast in elephant hotel was not substantial but ok. The place of the hotel is really good, the elephants pass almost through it...

We found the hotel to be very upto date, clean and well maintained. We went as a large family with people between the ages of 2 - 80. They took the trouble to put the older people in a lower floor and also adding additional beds in the rooms without us asking them. The views of the river and elephants...

I had every intention of having lunch here after visiting the nearby Elephant Orphanage. However, when given the menu, I realised they only served "Western oriented" food and no local cuisine. The waiter who has worked in Saudi Arabia and, as I realised, spoke decent Arabic and Urdu/ Hindi suggested I eat next door but have a beer here as...

We did not expect much from this hotel but were surprised that it basically had everything we needed - hot water, a working restaurant (everything else was closed in the evening), credit cards accepted and a superb location so that you can see the elephants go past your balcony and watch them bathe in the lake during breakfast. Minuses include...

Great place to view the magnificent beasts and a good cup of tea. The view from the left hand corner of the dining area at the back is great . not very crowded and unimpeded views of elephants taking a dip. Friendly staff makes the place very welcoming . Toilets were clean ! That's great news ... Cheers.

They will sit you at a balcony table overlooking the river in a prime location and you can pretty much stay there as long a you want without them clearing the...

Chose this hotel based on its "prime" location to watch the elephants during their baths. We arrived close to noon feeling hungry and tired after a long car ride right after a red eye flight. We planned to have our lunch at the hotel restaurant before check in (We know that check in is at 4pm). To our horror, we...

We had an amazing lunch watching the elephants bathing in the river once the crowds had returned to the elephant orphanage to watch the babies being bottle fed. The food was tasty considering that the restaurant could have played solely on its location.

WOW! Imagine sitting on your balcony, sipping smoothies & fresh juices and watching 40-50 elephants bathing in a river just onder your room.... In Pinnawala the elephants are brought twice a day from a close-by Elephant Orphanage to the river and it's an amazing sight when these awesome animals marching the streets of the village. The rooms are very nice...

I can't say enough about this hotel, if you love elephants you won't want to leave. We were 5 girls staying and we extended our trip to fit in a extra night here. We were shocked that you can see elephants from your balcony literally ALL day. Great to have all your meals watching them play in the water. Breakfast...
