On entail entrance the place looked great! Great setting and between two towns so many places to eat and shop! The given complex had two rooms, each with own balcony, ensuites and aircon. The place looked clean and tidy. Night 1: Gave us wrong room so had to swap. Bathroom light so dim you could hardly see. Water smelt cross... More

The room was very dirty and austere. A bed, a rack and that was it. In a corner we found used condoms ... The bathroom was equally filthy. First thing we did was clean it. No joke. Nobody seems to have attended the garden for years. The cook however is very friendly and helpful and makes a decent breakfast.

The pictures may disguise you but this place is on the luxury side for cheap travellers like me. Nice and clean bathroom with the caretaker willing to help even at 11.30 pm in the night. Chose this place because of its proximity to Sigiriya rock. Also do the walk from Immanaluwa bus stop to the guest house in the night.... More

The best thing about this Guest House is the food which really is outstanding, without doubt the best we had during our three week trip around Sri Lanka. An imaginative menu which was skilfully cooked and well presented. The accommodation was of a higher than usual standard for a Sri Lankan Guest House, especially with regard to the bathroom. The... Where to even begin..... This place is absolutely awful. Forget what you've read in Lonely Planet. I booked based on their review and didn't check Trip Advisor. Big Mistake. There is no internet. The water is brown. The rooms are dirty. The toilet was broken. They're located in a swamp and don't provide mosquito nets. They're overpriced. The staff do... More

Booked this place because it was close to Sigiriya. The cottages were quite cute and we enjoyed sitting outside on the balcony. However, there was no WiFi as listed. The room itself was quite spacious and big and the we thought the beds were comfy, although it felt like it was a bit sticky. There was no hot water, only... More

The bungalows were under renovation when we stayed in Ancient Villa, so ours had some plusses and minusses. A plus was the new roof, with branch like beam structure. Minusses were the lack of a roof on the in-room bathroom and some strange wiring of the lighting, as a result of which we had to turn of the power to... More

After arriving at ancient villa to find our rooms flooded I asked the managed why this was the case, his response was "because it is raining". Following this and after finding frogs and crabs in the bathroom we decided that we did not want to stay here for a second night. We approached the manager and asked if we could... More

Ancient Villa is a great place. quiet, relaxing. The guys there have good advice in regards to activities and when the best time to do them are. The staff are all very friendly and happy to help in any way. Food is really yum and so is the welcome drink. We had a small double bed room with bathroom/toilet. We... More

I was not aware of the scam running in Sri Lanka and doubtless other countries where the driver you have hired gets a very large cut of the cost of your room for hotels he recommends. I am now. After arriving in town very late we took the driver's advice that we would get no accommodation and should stay where... More
