I loved the place very much with supportive management teams. It was great to meet and be friend with people from different parts of the world. Must say, it is a small world in Gala Time Hostel. If one is in Kolkata, I would definitely recommend this place.

Stay happy, make friends; that's their tag and it holds true.
Situated 22km from Kolkata international airport, the hostel is well connected with bus service directly from airport terminal to the location. I came here for a solo trip and I took bus no. AC50 from the airport to the hostel, it only coated me 70INR, where as private cabs were costing me 400-500INR.
The hostel have nearby attraction as Bengals only floating market nearby and popularly known as Patuli jeel park.
The hostel have in total 29beds as Male dormitory, female dormitory and mixed dormitory.
All the rooms are air conditioned.
The bathrooms are well equipped and clean and neat. The room beds are comfortable and offers lockers under the beds. Spacious and clean and it's 24*7 open reception.
They have running coffee and tea machine and also offers on demand lunch and dinner(veg and non veg).
So, if you are planning to visit Kolkata and want a budget accommodation, go visit their site and book it.
I loved my stay here at Gala Time Hostel, they were amazing with great hospitality.

Just checked out after 4 nights in the small private room in Gala Time.

The most tourist-friendly thing about Kolkata seems to be cheap flights between India and SEA. The second thing is the good public transport. Other than that, after 4 days of trying to simply enjoy the vibe of Kolkata, I declared failure. Kolkata isn't for me.

But, if you need to stay in Kolkata, Gala Time is not a bad place to go.
I warmed up to the staff, who are quite friendly in their very chill way, and can sometimes be more helpful than Google in understanding Kolkata.

For me being close to Kolkata's attractions didn't really matter (though it seems quite convenient with public transport), but the atmosphere in the neighborhood really mattered. The immediate neighborhood seems quite relaxed compared to most of Kolkata, where you can walk around a bit and feel safe (except for the many rather-peaceful street dogs, which are probably everywhere), including in the early evening. I understand there's a few cheap food stalls a few minutes away. There's a few restaurant around where if you're really trying you can have an excellent meal for 200 rupees. And there's food delivery available.

For a solo traveler who wasn't in an adventurous mood, the neighborhood required some mindful adjustments and choices to feel comfortable in. The people in the guesthouse are mostly male, many of them Indian.

Oh yeah, and there's a good cinema a 15-minute walk away!

It's not so clean but not so dirty. Not so social but not so estranged. I had a few nice, simple days here. If I find myself back in Kolkata, I'll probably be back in Gala Time.

This place is clean, very well located in a calm neighborhood and it charges a very fair price for an accommodation. Being Kolkata there is cheap food all around and the metro is not far at all. Highly recommended it!
