Picking up from the earlier/recent review, I'd like to add that one of the auspicious thing about Jonkerdee Hostel is that, if your life or world is lacking in colour or sparkle, rest assured you'll be dazzled by a Kaleidoscope effect which produces changing reflected patterns by DAY and by NIGHT like an AMBER exposed or unexposed to light. Subconsciously...

Dear jmaersing, I'm intrigued that you found Jonkerdee Hostel and her host refreshing once again and I found it great exchanging views and opinions with you, too. I hope that kaleidoscope effect you experienced at Jonkerdee didn't just stop there but rather accompanied you in your daily affairs too. Might I ask? Did you start making some changes at home...

A couple of hours after i had checked into Jonkerdee hostel, I realized that various parts of this attractive hostel represented more like a CHINESE HOME which is replete with good fortune; symbols painted on art in all kinds of media; porcelain ware, Chinese paintings, sculptures, dining plates, utensils, furniture, screens, room dividers and just about anything made for the...

We felt that Jonkerdee hostel should receive q special reference or recognition for its courageous attempt to go all out on a striking catch-line (exhibited outside), proclaiming its discount below the usual price or true value. We marvelled that this indeed was a brave spectacular step or act - a rather well-advised and well-meant prerogative which should be well received...

I've always believed that life serves up moments of opportunity. You either grab them by the throat or stand on the sidelines and watch someone else bask in the glory. It's like waiting for that perfect moment to strike and then going in without hesitation. So, when I had passed by Jonkerdee Hostel and noticed its signboard displayed (on the...

My Dear "Moments of Opportunity" Guest, It was a sure "moment of opportunity" to have you walked into Jonkerdee Hostel and all else that transpired on that day. The following three days/nights were perfect moments that complemented all three parties; Guest - Host/Owner - Establishment. How advantageous to have a guest or many guests like you who grab and strike...

Once again we were more than surprised by what this hostel has to offer and this time around we were almost thrown off guard by the "LOW BUDGET" rates the hostel was promoting. We were astonished as to the rates for rooms or dormitories offered (and so were our friends who joined us) on this trip to Melaka after we...

“The dormitories are separated by curtains and though there are no notices or signs reminding 'in-house guests' to maintain silence or speak in soft tones at appropriate hours, many of the occupants of the dormitories seem to have it ingrained in their minds to keep their voices low particularly after 10.00 pm and before 10.00am. This we found rather amazing! The Bedrooms or the Dorms both make for a good stay.”

“We took two rooms, the lovely double bedroom that resembles a hanging garden, beautifully decorated with God's creatures of the land, water and air, along with some fascinating ornaments, antiques and paintings on display, all tastefully done. The other room with 3 single beds was perfect and told stories and showed photographs of Andre's heritage and family. These rooms suited us fine for a family of five. Both rooms were side by side and along the pathway to the hall. We'd just like to add that the dormitories we're impressive and like the rooms were worthy of value and price.”

“Go for the Malacca Kampung style Dormitory. It can accommodate 4 persons and is spacious and original in its theme, decoration and atmosphere. There are interesting collectibles on display and you can unwind and relax by putting on the "sarong" if you want to experience true Kampung style "dress" comfort while sitting on a mat on the floor, sipping tea and having some local delicacies. Quite an experience, we'd say!!!. The dorm is midway between the Hall and Kitchen, on the right.”

“The Raja Parameswara Chamber held my attention as it's a dormitory with two single beds. I thought it was "cool" as it was "different" and 'held some local folklore tradition". It is one of the most fore front dorms in the hostel.”

“We would have been happy to settle in one of the dormitory, especially the one that has all the imagination of being in Egypt like being in Cleopatra's Chambers. Perhaps next time. That's the one I'd like to recommend! It is the second last room from where the kitchen is.”
