My brother and I just returned from a week-long stay at Matava--we had a fantastic time. It's a wonderful, off-the-beaten-track location, which means lots of peace and relaxation if you want it. We're not divers but there was plenty to keep us busy and happy--we did lots of kayaking and snorkeling, and it was fun to meet other guests from...

I just returned from Matava Eco Resort. It was wonderful! The diving is awesome. We did four manta dives and saw mantas each time. The resort is right on the Great Astrolabe Reef and has wonderful marine life, both big (mantas, sharks) and small (pipe fish, nudibranchs, shrimp, twin spot lion fish) and everything in between (anemone fish, clown triggers,...

Idyllic escape from the rat race. The staff, location, food, service and ambience are all top class. We had a truly wonderful time and immensely enjoyed the manta dives as well as relaxing with a local rum at the bar in the evening! We stayed in a honeymoon bure which we could not fault. The view was spectacular and the...

We had 10 wonderful days at Matava. The resort is nestled on two sides of a small creek, with well laid paths leading past bananas, hibiscus and paw paw, to private wooden and thatch bures with large decks, hot showers, magnficent views and extremely comfortable beds. A large main bure with bar, and decked area allow for plenty of space...

We went to Matava for our honeymoon as it was recommended to us by friends, and we were not disappointed. Although we had a different room to the usual bures, it was still fantastic with an amazing view and great for our honeymoon. Heaps of wildlife too, from birds, crabs, lizards and even a python, whenever we went to and...

I went to Matava for my first dive trip and got much more, with the very nice employees and great location, I had a blast. Matava has great hikes. I visited thier own eco garden where thy grow thier own vegetables and the Fijian farmer was more than kind enough to show me around and keep me entertained. My dive...

We went to Matava resort for fishing and diving and were delighted at the eco resort we found. The georgeous thatched cottages were comfortable and private and the views breathtaking. The service and food was exceptional and whether you wanted to relax, explore, party or research there was plenty to do. I loved the way I felt like part of...

Go to Matava to get away from everything. It is located on barely-inhabited Kandavu Island, a short flight from Fiji's Intl. airport in Nadi. Diving on the Astrolabe reef was what attracted me. Unfortunately, late August/Sept. is not the best time to visit this area, as the water temp never exceeded 77 degrees F. Plenty of near pristine hard coral...

35 minutes flight from Nadi to Kadavu, pick up by resort to the boat. Takes about 2 hours in total. Secluded bay with no other resorts to be seen in miles. No beach, but take a kayak to the little island 200 meters away and enjoy beautiful sandy beach at low tide. Yes, you have to take of your shoes...

Matava trip advisor I stand back in sheer amazement that so many people write good reviews about Matava. Are they blind? Or easily pleased? Is this their first trip to the tropics? I have been to 14 dive resorts in Fiji, Matava is the most expensive and by far the worst. When you pay a lot of money for a...
