The hotel was presentable, clean and tidy. In a decent location with in a few hundred metres of a metro station which made getting around town easy. Most staff were friendly and willing to help but many spoke limited English.

People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and
work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.

There's no free shuttle. The cheapest option is to take the metro, but it involves several line changes, some of which are not easy with luggage. Depends on what you're carrying. Dashije station on Blue Line 8 is the closest station to the hotel but involves a walk along the streets once you leave the Metro station at exit 1. To get to Blue Line 8 itself involves a few metro changes from the Green Line 2 which is the airport line. You have to get off at Tangzhen, walk across the platform and then continue on the same line to People's Square station, where you change to the Blue Line 8. A taxi is the most straight forward option as long as you have the hotel address written in Chinese. It's not that expensive, but a hell of a lot more than the CY7 the metro will cost you.
