Stayed a night due to distance to Pudong airport nearest. Platinum accor member but not feel expected. Had to ask for the welcome drink voucher to be issued, later found out complimentary dinner came with drinks eg wines but was not informed. Dinner buffet was cold and dried up. Not up to expectation for novotel. Room was good, but on second morning can smell some cigarette smell from room corridor even when whole hotel was suppose to be smoke free hotel. Very disappointed but this is in China.

Stayed in end December for 2 nights. Location wise nothing much just near to Disneyland and PuDong airport. Firstly booked a Family Studio room but later my son upgraded us to 2 x Junior Suite room. Reason, 1) Didn't realised that their culture is off aircon and on heater during winter, so room was hot and stuffy. 2) The family studio room we booked the windows was frosted (no view at all), only one tiny window can be slightly open but was blocked by a billboard of sort, blocking cool air from entering. 3) Upgraded to Junior Suite, big room, nice view but again no aircon. Lucky got 2 windows that can be opened slightly plus high floor so there is some cool air entering the room. But still not cool enough for me so I requested 2 fan to make the room cooler. One things good is after upgraded we got free dinner in their restaurant for the 2 nights.

We were a large group of 20 pax and I have booked 5 rooms for 2 nights stay in your hotel on 18-20 Dec 2023. We planned to visit Disneyland and the hotel location is perfect. There are shuttle bus provided to Disney, downtown shanghai and even airport and the train station.
I have to give a highly commendable praise to Ms Nancy Yu who was at the reception that night on 18 Dec for being patient with us and so very helpful. She even make extra effort to help us and make our check in smooth. Very good service attitude indeed!
I would also like to give an excellent review for Mr Cody Chang from the concierge department. We had trouble arranging for transport to downtown shanghai as we were a large group. It was last minute and late night but Mr Cody still went the extra mile to help us arrange for it. We are very thankful for his service and grateful for him.
Thoughout the stay all the staffs were friendly and accommodative. Even though the executive lounge was closed, we were allow to use the lobby for drinks and merry making. It really made the entire trip a little more enjoyable and pleasant. The rooms we had were excellent and clean. The play area has slides and pool balls. The children had a great time!
While the location is far from town, there is a convenient store just outside and some street vendor that offer some delightful snacks.

This is a good hotel to be near Disneyland with its regular shuttle to the park and also available shuttle to Pudong Airport.

Service staff were welcoming and friendly. Rooms were clean. However the only qualm was that this hotel is located in an industrial area and there are no food outlets or convenient shops outside the hotel. There are food vending machines though.

The metro is close by around 200 meters from the hotel.

Novotel Shanghai Clover Hotel is a very nice hotel to stay, especially if you plan to go to Shanghai Disneyland. There is a free shuttle bus from the hotel to Disneyland with a pre booking with the receptionist. The room are clean and spacious. The staff are very hospitable even though they speak very few English. Language is not a main problem as I speak basic Chinese, but I cherish their hospitable attitude. Without us to actively inquire, Mr.Ziqiang Wang has actively helped our family many things from carrying our luggages to the room, giving us all the information that we need and make sure we are comfortable. We truly appreciated his sincere hospitality. I will definitely stay here again if I have a chance.

Booked an executive room at the hotel for a night in order to visit Disney. Family room was spacious and had a Disney theme. Unfortunately the room was very close to a busy railway track and we found this disturbing. The other, more annoying problem was that we booked an executive room with lounge access, only to be told that the lounge was now closed. The hotel made little attempt to placate us by giving us a free meal or breakfast (which we expected as part of executive lounge access). The hotel is tired and not as the Accor website sells it as and it’s not really an international hotel which you’d expect from a Novotel. Luckily we were only staying for 1 night

Loved this hotel. Felt more like a 5 star hotel than a 4 star hotel. The reception was impressive and I do not often get impressed. The rooms were also spacious and the shower was like at a spa with rain shower. Really recommend this hotel if you want a hotel close to the airport. It took 20 mins by taxi to reach the hotel. Good value for money!

We stayed here because it was close to Disneyland (just one station away from Disneyland metro station- Line 11) and that it provided complimentary transfers between hotel and Disneyland on a daily basis. We stayed 3 nights here starting from 7 May.

Took us about 1hr 15 mins to reach the Bund via metro. Needed 3 changes of trains. 5-min walk to Kangxin Metro station

We can't offer any comments to the dining experience and facilities. We only enquired and found out that the pool has been closed but there is a gym that opens from 6.30am till 9 plus pm. Hotel has breakfast and buffet dinner.

We shall present our comments in point form.

Positive

1. New & nice design

2. Proximity to Disneyland

3. Near Metro station

4. Mini mart just outside hotel entrance, across a driveway. Very convenient.

5. Complimentary daily transfer to and fro Disneyland (7-10am, one bus every half hour, after 10am, one bus every one hour; last bus from Disneyland back to hotel was at 9.15pm, the one before 9.15pm was 8.45pm. Note that the timings may differ depending on the season and opening hours of Disneyland. Kindly email or call the hotel for updated timings)

6. Complimentary bus to Pudong airport, only 4 timings per day: 6am, 8am, 12.30pm, 2pm. We missed the timings so we did not take any. Cab fare to Pudong Airport from hotel was RMB143. The cab that the hotel booked for us was rather big, it was comfortable and driver was highly professional. The cab fare from Pudong Airport to Hotel was merely RMB71 but driver was a grouchy man who left us "stranded" outside the hotel compound. Novotel is situated in a guarded compound that comprises other offices, light industrial (my guess only) and small mini-mart. So taxi driver thought he had to pay to enter due to the gantry bar.

7. Design of hotel's main entrance and lobby reminded us of Puyu Hotel in Wuhan (now renamed as Hyatt Hotel). Exactly the same opaque entrance doors, the same library-look, serene, zen-look, triple-volume lobby with sunken reception-cum-bar and tapping on natural lighting in the lobby. We just have this feeling that both Puyu Wuhan (now Hyatt) and Novotel could have been by the same architect or interior designer. TA reviewer T0mmyBahama (4 May 2017) found Novotel reception strange, wait till he or she visits Marriott Singapore South Beach, he or she will find it even more strange, no reception counter at all. Receptionists are there and they carry an iPad each and you get to sit down on furniture at the reception area, have a chat with the receptionist while checking in or checking out. We are into the 21st century, embrace novelty and advance.

8. Special compliments to Vincent Geng Jie 耿捷 for his prompt reply to all my emails prior to our stay. Thank you for helping us to book the Disneyland tickets too. Areas to be improved, see below.

9. Receptionist who checked us in was very nice and flexible. We found the configuration of our first room odd as the bed was not facing the TV. We asked for a change and got a room with a more logical flow of things.

10. Room size was very comfortable.

11. Comfortable bed and pillows.

12. Sufficient lighting in room. TA Reviewer T0mmyBahama (4 May 2017) commented that his/her room was dark. We believed that he/she did not turn on the cluster of LED lights in the centre of the room. We were staying in a hotel, we did not need stadium-like flood lights. Note that the switches on both sides of the bed control different lights in room. X顶灯(forgot one of the Chinese characters) is for those LED lights in the centre of the room.

13. Though glass doors were used for toilet bowl and shower area, there was a brown layer on the glass making the glass doors almost opaque. When sharing the room with family members, one can still slide the two doors that separate the bathroom from room for privacy.

14. Essentials such as toiletries, body lotion, toothbrush set, shaver (have to request), hair dryer, small round glass with lighted peripheral, kettle, tea/coffee/sugar, 3 bottles of water (replenished daily), bathrobes, slippers, fridge, safe are provided for.

Areas to be improved

1. Mainly staff. Though Novotel and Puyu Wuhan (now Hyatt) share the same design concept, their service are worlds' apart. Puyu Wuhan and Puli Shanghai are all managed by Urban Resort Concept.

(a) Vincent Geng Jie was prompt in email replies, however, he did not wear a smile when we met him. When he finally got a reply from Disneyland Official website, he called us "ooi". We corresponded many times over email and he did not even remember my surname and 1 hr before the "ooi", he got my details from passport for ticket booking, he did not even notice my surname or ask if he could not understand which English word is my surname as Singapore passport is in English.

(b) On 9 May, male concierge (didn't get his name) looked annoyed when I told him that my partner would be down in 1-2 mins when bus was due to leave at 10am sharp. The time was 9.57am. He didn't write down our room number on his clipboard, looked at his watch & said, "you've got only 3 mins". Gosh! I felt as if a teacher was talking to me in school. This same guy helped us with our luggage on 10 May morning, we tipped him and his face was beaming with a smile. A stark contrast.

(c) On 9 May night, I called the reception to book us a cab to the airport. I spoke with Doris twice. I had to call her a second time to inform her of my mistake on terminal number. On 10 May, 5.30am, merely 7 hours later, when we asked her about the cab while checking out, instead of answering us with a sentence, she answered us with a question, "你们有预定出租车吗?‘’ (Did you book a cab earlier?"). We went "huh?" in our hearts. How many hotel guests would have booked a cab at unearthly hour at 5.30am?

To digress, at Puyu Wuhan (now Hyatt) which was managed under Urban Resort Concept: it was raining, lady concierge staff ran out with two umbrellas for us. When we walked towards the lady concierge to return the umbrellas, she quickly ran towards us to receive them instead. Anticipatory service was excellent. TA deleted our entire review on Puyu Wuhan when Hyatt took over, so if memory did not fail us, Puyu staff address guests by surname, or at least 先生女士 (sir/madam) even if they could not remember surname but never "ooi".

To sum it all up, Novotel's hardware is good, software needs to be improved. Staff need to be more personal, proactive, polite, cheerful & hospitable.

Will we stay in Novotel again?

Yes, if we are going to Disneyland Shanghai again.

Overall a good hotel, with good connections to Shanghai Disneyland. Hotel features complimentary transport options to Pudong Airport, Disneyland and Shanghai Shopping Village.

Was pleasantly surprised with this hotel, it’s not what I was expecting from a Novotel. Entrance to the lobby was impressive and first impressions do count.

Checking was fairly straightforward, wed arrived at the hotel just shortly after 10am, and although our room had been allocated, it wasn’t yet cleaned. Reception offered to store our bags so we could go and do some touristy things.

I had a room on the 8th floor, it was spacious and well decorated. A complimentary mini bar of water & soft drinks was supplied, with anything after that you had to buy once it had been restocked.

The hotel does have 1 minor issue relating to the location, and that’s the traffic. It’s in a in the middle of a busy traffic area, with buses, cars, bikes and trains. I found it quite difficult to sleep before 11pm.

Room had AC, but wasn’t great. We couldn’t get the room to cool down at all, it just felt warmer every day.

I can’t make any comment on hotel facilities as we didn’t use them, but the restaurant looked nice, and a good selection of items on the menus.

Overall I’d book this hotel again, but ask for a room not facing traffic.

Stayed 3 nights in family room. This hotel provides free shuttle from/to Pudong Airport and also free shuttle from/to Shanghai Disneyland. It was exactly what we need.
At Pudong Airport, we must find where the shuttle bus park. The location is on the parking area of Terminal 1. We must go down the escalator to reach to parking field. The shuttle bus parking lot is A1-01. it is an open air parking lot.
Both shuttle bus for airport and for SD were very punctual and reliable.
There is no mall, supermarket or restaurant nearby, except a mini market just few steps from the hotel lobby, which open till 10 pm.
The hotel itself is flawless. The lobby and reception area are well decorated. The room is perfectly arranged to cater 4 persons. The breakfast is adequate with some food variety each day.
The hotel location is in the eastern part of Shanghai but the Kangxi metro station is only 200 meter, merely 10 minute walk. It adds to the plus point.
Although most of the staffs speak fluent English, but they lack of smiles.

I would recommend calling or emailing the hotel directly. They can answer both questions. Airport transfers are not free so ask for the rates. The subway is a fast and inexpensive option.
