Hotel is first class first time to shanghai China . The first nights hotel was the worst I've been to near the airport. This place is close to the bund, in north bund. View of the pearl tower and financial area of Pudong, see the river as well . Nice pool, hot tub ,spa and gym. Breakfast buffet was really...

This hotel was beautiful and very clean. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They were eager to assist with whatever was needed. The exercise facility had updated equipment and the restaurant was great. The breakfast had many items to choose from ranging from western foods to traditional Chinese. It's within walking distance from a local park and also Starbucks....

This is a nice hotel and very good after chinese standard. The rooms are big and nice and the bed is not so hard to be in China. The bathroom is nice but if you like privacy there, this is not your hotel, it has glass walls all the way! The staff speak very very bad english, so do not...

We were thrilled to find ourselves upgraded to this hotel (at the expense of the tour company) due to conference bookings at the original location and had an amazing near junior suite level room. Subsequently checking the locations out, Sunrise on the Bund was much better for us, if perhaps less funky and modern. But it more than made up...

The hotel is considered 5 star but that's the only thing going for it. It's located in the Bund but it's far from everything and will require a person to walk very far to get to the main area of the Bund. The staff doesn't speak English well. The bed is very hard. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

We had an exceptional room with a huge glass wall between the bathroom and the lounge/bedroom area. Lovely leather sofa and chair and overall a beautiful room BUT it was absolutely freezing! Our heating system was pumping out freezing cold air. We reported this to reception in the morning after a chilly sleep and asked them to fix it. We...

We stayed 2N in a standard room on the 8th floor. Although a standard room, it was luxurious. Has a pillow menu for you to choose from. Our room overlooked the city, and looked down into a primary school. Saw the kids doing morning exercise before class. The surrounding area has a few constructions going on, but we didn't hear...

This is a great hotel, my somewhat small room had a comfortable bed, an amazing bathroom with a view of the Shanghai skyline, for a bath with a view, excellent restaurant, and the hotel is a very short walk from the bund. The only downside was most staff (except at reception) did not speak even the minimum amount of English,...

On the 8th floor where the room was a decent size for a big busy city. Reception staff very helpful and their English was much better than my Chinese. Easy check in and comfortable room well equipped with great bathroom with all amenities including shaving kit, toothbrush etc etc. Breakfast selection was very good for our 4 day visit. Great...

Staying in Hongkou

Neighbourhood Profile
Hongkou
History oozes out of every fiber of the city, but Hongkou is a particularly notable neighborhood. Shanghai was a safe haven for about 20,000 Jews during the Second World War, and traces of this heritage can still be found in buildings and park monuments. Historic foreign relations aside, this neighborhood throws you into traditional Shanghainese life without taking you too far away from the city center. Some of the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.
