The hotel is not bad for the price, but the area has gone downhill. You can't walk outside without being accosted by tea girls, pimps and touts. What used to be a good area for restaurants and shopping has gone to the dogs and even as an experienced traveller I didn't feel safe in the area.

I had to stay in Shanghai for one night and since I was near people's square i decided to book in this hotel. They gave me a room with a view of Nanjing road. The room was clean and comfortable and looked safe but it has 2 major problems, one is the noise that until 12.30am is penetrating the poor...

This hotel is centrally located in one of the most popular shopping streets, Nanjing East road. Underground train station is within walking distance, food is in abundance just outside the hotel and also within. The staff can speak reasonably communicable english and security is quite tight too. Guard stationed at the lifts will request for your room key card before...

This hotel is a budget hotel located in the most popular shopping street in Shanghai. Great location to get all underground lines. Direct connections to both airports. You find everything you need around and also a train ticket shop to by your train tickets without need to go to the train station. Although is in a busy and noisy area...

I stayed in 4 hotels of this Chinese branch and this was the first where staff was able to communicate in English. Which was sort of pleasant after four weeks of mostly trying to be creative without using words. Like all Jinjiang hotels its atmosphere is somewhat impersonal, but a very good base for exploring Shanghai. Perfectly located along the...

This place is right in the heart of the action. Step outside and your surrounded by neon and masses of people. Step inside and it's a clean, modern and attractive, and not as noisy as you would expect. We chose a Business A room and it was great to come back to each night.

The hotel is very good. My accommodation was excellent but the important thing is to get a room that is deep inside the hotel not facing the street and if you do that will be absolute silence day and night while at the same time being in the best possible location in all of Shanghai which is right in the...

Part of a large chain of hotels in China, this is located right on Nanjng Lu, the busy shopping street in Shanghai. 2blocks away from the People's Square subway stop, you can take the maglev and subway from the airport-saving time and money ( 30 minutes and 44yuan) . Basic hotel, tucked inside a shopping area. Room was adequate, clean,...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
