My boyfriend & I stayed 1 night due to having a super early flight the next morning. We arrived at 9:30pm Saturday night and needed to leave to go to the airport by 4:15AM Sunday morning. The 1st airport shuttle picks up at 4:10AM so we scheduled it. The 2 gentlemen working when we arrived we're very nice & helpful....

Although we informed this hostel of our airport arrival time AND they got back to us to confirm that they would be picking us up, no one was there! After a long flight and arriving in the dark in a new country this was not a good start. We ended up getting a taxi which we were overcharged for. When...

This hostel left me stranded at an airport and then charged my credit card despite never spending a night there. Before my trip, I made a reservation with them based on their advertisement that they offer a free airport shuttle to and from the San Jose airport. When I called them from the airport around noon to ask them to...

The big plus is the convenient location near the airport when leaving or arriving in costa rica, the pickup and drop-off at the airport. Otherwise the hostel is below average: towels weren't always clean, air conditioning doesn't keep the rooms cool, insects running around, even found something metallic in my towel and the rooms definitely need to be refreshed. The...

Loved the building, rooms, and the free shuttle, but double-check everything! They charge extra if you pay in colones, the national currency, but don't tell you before. Staff is not friendly at all, bordering on rude. Everything looks clean, but our tub was dirty, and there was underwear in the bathroom. WiFi was very hard to use anywhere. Good location...

At first, we wanted to stay at Alajuela backpackers because it was a convenient location where we would receive a free ride from the airport. We were being picked up for bungee jump at the hostel and going to a yoga retreat that would pick us up from the airport so we needed to be close by. Right when we...

The highlight of this hostel is the patio bar that opens in the evening. It serves food and drinks and has a great view of the city. I've always met really interesting people here and gives you the opportunity to socialize without having to walk the streets alone at night. The staff has always been extremely helpful booking shuttles to...

Fancy for its name: Backpackers hostel. About the Boutique Hostel, I don't know what does that really mean, yet it catches certain attention to people. Location is good, 3 minutes from the airport. Excellent for flying out. Service was good. Prices were a wee higher than average and nothing wrong to pay a bit extra. Not much of a backpackers...

This hostel is in many ways like a hotel: its fancy interior, the facilities (good hot-water shower, free airport shuttle, free internet access from wifi and 4 computers), the restaurant, the lobby... Also on a good location in the surprisingly nice town Alajuela (I liked it a lot more than San José). The rooms are large and have only 2...
