Very good hotel in the middle of the forest. Rooms are very big and clean. The view from the restaurant is great, the restaurant itself is very good and the staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended

We are a family of five (two adults, three kids ages 14, 12, and 6) and we stayed at the observatory lodge for four days of our month-long Costa Rica trip. The room was spacious, clean, and had a good view of the lake and part of the volcano. We had the casona with a shared bathroom. The view of...

The Villa is removed from the other facilities by a short drive or a 10 minute walk. It's suitable for groups, with two downstairs bedrooms w/ baths, and a very large upstairs main room that can sleep several people on sofas, or mattresses you can bring up from the downstairs trundle beds. Nice kitchen, deck, carport, and - assuming you...

The bad: The hotel was right at the base of the volcano and therefore in the middle of nowhere and a $30 cab ride (each way) away from La Fortuna, where everything is centered. The tours offered do not include transportation. The food was decent and ok price for a hotel. The rooms The good: The volcano view room was...

The facilities itself could have used an update, but we were fine with them considering this wasn't the spa type leg of the trip. It has everything you need for hiking trip. Staff was friendly. Location can't be beat!

Let me start by saying that this was one of the best experiences I've had at any hotel - primarily because of the property - the staff was also excellent. I stayed there after spending a day hiking around the volcano and enjoying the hot springs. My two hour hike brought me and my family to a beautiful view of...

This is an excellent hotel for anyone that wants to see the pristine rainforests up close. The entrance to the rooms faces directly into the wilderness and the patios offer amazing views of both Arenal volcano and lake. There are plenty of hiking trails in the area that are populated with all kinds of tropical birds and other wildlife, such...

A fantastic experience. Beautiful homely lodge and the best way to experience arenal volcano up close and personal. I visited just before the volcano went into resting state. We could hear it rumbling all through the night like thunder and were lucky to see it overflowing with lava on our last day. Amazing view from the hottub area. Food is...

We stayed here for two nights in a Smithsonian room with a view of the volcano. Unfortunately we only had peeks of the volcano as the fog was very prevalent, but the gardens and grounds of the hotel were a nice view regardless. The have several trails right on the grounds, one goes to a waterfall which is worth the...

We spent 4 nights here and stayed in one of the standard rooms on the second floor of the main lodge with a view of the volcano. An unexpected plus was having wireless internet available- apparently the wireless network in the lounge area downstairs from us was strong enough to cover our room. The property itself was beautiful and there...

Activities at the hotel include hikes to the waterfall or to explore Cerro Chato (an extinct volcano with a small lake in the crater), horseback riding, bicycling through the trails, enjoying a refreshing swim in our pool, or simply relaxing with a massage in our SPA. The hotel is well located to serve as a base for a variety of excursions such as: Cano Negro Nature Refuge, hot springs, Venado Caves, Canopy Tours, Arenal Hanging Bridges, Fishing, White Water Rafting, Canyoning, Biking etc. It also serves as a very interesting stop before heading on to Monteverde Cloud Forest or to the beaches of the Pacific coast.
