Our first impression was really great : the location is lovely, in the middle of the jungle, really close to the Rio Celeste. The owner was welcoming, the food was opulent and rather good. The room was simple and smelt humid, but was not repelling at this point. The nightmare began when we came back from diner : in the... More

We were the only guest couple on this day. Very homely and down to earth place. The closest I have come to nature anywhere in my Costa Rica travels. This place is not fancy if that is what you are looking for. Food was great and with generous servings. Direct access to Rio Celeste as it passes through the property.... More

Pulled up to Cabinas Piuri w/o a reservation but looking for a place to stay near the park. So glad we came upon this gem. Alexandre met us with a welcoming smile. The rooms were spacious and had a large shower with great water pressure. The best part about the hotel was the private access to the turquoise river which... More

My boyfriend and I like to travel on a budget, but this place exceeded all of our expectations. The rooms were very clean and spacious and the location is perfect. If you drive to Tenorio you have to pay for parking, but from Cabinas Piuri you can walk to the park and skip the parking fee. We ate dinner (extra)... More

We booked our stay at Cabinas Piuri from the review in Lonely Planet and were very pleased. Since we were the only guests the hosts upgraded our room to the large suite. The room was spacious, extremely clean and filled with art and very cool hand washing sinks, carved from petrified wood. We enjoyed a private swimming area on the... More

We drove past here on our way from the west coast to Arenal and stayed one night. I'd say you need a 4wd to be sure to make it here if the weather isn't nice. It was really something else! The rooms are basic but clean - and really all you need is a shower and a bed! We went... More

I wasn't prepared to go so "off the grid." While the room was basic, without internet, tv, ability to drive to it w/o a 4WD from reception--these things would have been fine had the electricity not gone out for most of the day/night. My husband had to go behind the room to check the breakers, and found that that the... More

Alexander was a very welcoming host to us during our two night stay at one of their huge double rooms. If you came the long and rough way to np Tenorio I highly recommend staying at this place. The rooms are basic but according to their price. Breakfast and dinner was fantastic, Alexander is an amazing cook - we absolutley... More

We really enjoyed our staying here. The owners were extremely helpful and let us even cook in their kitchen. A color-changing small gecko was the highlight for our kids after breakfast. The nearby river is very nice for swimming. Water is not too cold. Breakfast is simple, but enjoyable with fresh orange juice and homemade food such as gallo pinto... More

We arrived to Piuri Cabinas as part of our honey moon. We took the trip by bus (3 buses and a ride from Alexander the wonderful owner of the cabinas, who came to pick us up)- and it was beyond our dreams. Alexander and his lovely wife were the perfect hosts, they have a private piece of heaven, just few... More
